Ace of the Diamond: Episodes 38 - 40 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

It's always a good sign for a sports anime, to me, when you feel either side can win and you'll be satisfied. I've REALLY come to like Sanada, the Todorki father-son duo, and Yakushi throughout this matchup, and from the battle of the Aces to the pressure finally catching up with our sunshine boys, these episodes were the perfect conclusion to their rivalry!

I have full faith that the world is going to eventually know not only Raichi's name, but our boy Sawamura's as well.

NOTE: The Opening of this Video, I forgot to "flip," so it may look odd. The rest of the reaction's fine, though. ^^

Ace of the Diamond: Episodes 38 - 40 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Oooh, that makes sense! Yeah, all that pressure and stress and Raichi's hit exposing it all -- and then Kawakami struggling with the same afterwards; that's good to know! And yes! I love the aura building with the players alongside the music -- I'm enjoying this show so much now, it's good to know there's still a lot to go! :D Thanks!!

im not sure if anyone has clarified the markings under their eyes but just so you know its not necessarily tired, like during the game its more to show a build up of pressure being added to the pitchers on the mound and for sawamura it was more like all that concentration and tnesion broke when raichi hit the homerun so the bags under his eyes was from mental stress and pressure he faced and having to mainting focus over long period of time.... also the auras in this show are really well drawn and designed and the sound track to this show is rediculous ilove every bits of this show ive watched both seasons and act 2 aswell your in for a wild experence when you get to act 2

Hahahaha!! So much tension with those commercial breaks, though! XD I do LOVE that Sanada proves to be the experience Sawamura needs to see in person -- and that he gets a dose of what an upperclassman does in that situation. That was a great scene! I definitely agree that Todoroki's coaching philosophy is so straight-forward and "solid," that I have to say I like it more than Kataoka's. You bring up an excellent point about Kawakami's state and showing that even a second year can get just as flustered under the right stress. I like how great Kataoka is, but we still see he's a flawed coach, too. And I love that Tanba isn't perfect right off the bat (no pun intended) either! He's still recovering, but like you point out, he has the mental fortitude of an ace, and I love that he's able to carry the team through to victory even if he isn't pitching at 100% yet. And yeah, the crying scene and Raichi caving to pressure sealed the deal: I love him and his dad! I want them to succeed in the future and for Raichi and ol' Money Tree to become famous -- I really hope they get to play Seidou again! I demand a rematch!! :3 Ooooh, I did NOT catch that! I'm going to have to pay attention in a future reaction! And yes, Miyuki; you gotta love him, but can also want to throttle him, too! :) Thanks so much for the comment and support!! :D

That was SO sad! He's such a positive character, so seeing him break down from pressure and losing was heartbreaking! I really LOVED this game! I can see why it'd be your favorite! That's a good point about letting the third years take the outfield and minimize the chance of any fumbles! And man....yeah, the idea of your hands being THAT calloused. My hands have been calloused from farm work with my family but NOTHING like that...because we use gloves, hahaha! Like you said...that's crazy! And him being that young with hands like that...man. @_@ Also, thanks for confirming that about Sanada! So...basically, Yakushi could be a MONSTER team next year. That's so cool to think about! The potential, haha!

First, we'll have to agree to disagree about those commercial breaks. I, for one, love feeling that build-up to an epic moment twice. :D I'm happy that by the end of this set, Sawamura has more-or-less recovered from Raichi's home run. It seems to start right after Yuki's home run at the very beginning of Episode 38, after he witnesses how Sanada accepts it for what it is and turns around to motivate the rest of the team (like an ace) instead of the other way around. Of course, like he says, Sawamura's failure has shaken Kawakami. And part of me wonders here if it wasn't a mistake on Kataoka's part to mislead Furuya, Kawakami and Sawamura about Tanba not pitching. Kawakami doesn't seem to have much confidence at the best of times and Sawamura is a first-year, it makes sense that the pressure will overwhelm them. And while they need to overcome that pressure in the future, it could have very easily put Seido in a position where Tanba couldn't have saved them even if he pitched perfectly. Between that and how Coach Todoroki handles his team, even though I like Kataoka, I think Todoroki is the better coach. And after so many episodes (wasn't he hit in Episode 19 or 20?), Tanba comes on! He struggles a bit at first; to be expected since he hasn't played in weeks at this point; and he messes-up his early pitches. Of course, ball control has been his problem from when he was first introduced. (It's very different from Sawamura's intentionally ignoring Miyuki's call, so I can see why Miyuki doesn't get angry here). But it's Tanba's temperament here that really defines him and displays why he's the ace. He knows what he's missing, but he'll do his best to overcome it and lead the team to victory. And finally, we get to the end of the game and Raichi. As if daring us to not like him any more, he struck-out because he wants to save his team... It hurts almost as much as seeing Sawamura before. Between him and Coach Todoroki ("Take 'me' to Nationals"; "Let's get stronger, Raichi, with everone on this team") and Sanada, it's like you said: I wanted them to win as much as I did Seido. Lastly, two things: 1) I don't know if you noticed, but the new ED is sung by Sawamura's, Furuya's and Haruichi's voice actors; 2) I only said I sometimes hate to love him; but it's simply impossible to love to hate Miyuki! He's my favorite character after Sawamura, after all! :D

I can't handle Raichi crying man. He's such a pure hearted kid, seeing him cry so heartily is so sad. This game is easily one of my favourites in season 1. Also, Furuya being taken out of the game near the end was definitely partially because of his stamina but also it probably would've been done anyway. To really tighten up your defense when you're in the lead at the end of a game you want your best fielders in. Furuyas not bad in the field but compared to the third years who actually play outfield its best to have them in to minimize any possibility of fumbles. Raichis hand being rock solid is such a good concept to me but as someone who used to play ball myself, I cringe at the fact that he doesn't wear batting gloves lol. Hard balls against metal bats hurt like hell on the bare hand. It vibrates through your whole hand if you hit it too close to the handle. Even if you hit it where you're supposed to it can hurt a ton. Clearly with rock hard hands he doesn't have to worry about that but it still makes me cringe a bit 😂 (Also you're right, Sanada is in his second year. Same as Miyuki and Narumiya)
