Bungo Stray Dogs Season 3: Episode 1 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

HA! Literally -- Okay --> Port Mafia --> Trauma --> ADA for Therapy! Yeah, Randou's demeanor and design is SO COOL (no pun intended); I really am fascinated by his ability and to learn more about him. But yeah, I kind of LOVE the moments with Mori and Dazai at the beginning here. It's so realistic that after a boss falls, nothing is "perfect" -- instead it's Mori scrambling to keep the organization together as he takes power. And his humble beginnings in the doctor's office with Dazai is so fascinating -- says a lot for his character. And speaking of character, YES, Chuuya is a breath of fresh, teenage vigor into the story. What a king. I really came to like Chuuya in Dead Apple, and I have a feeling this season's going to keep me liking him! :D

This episode was A+. Idk how I feel about Randou tho <.< . I like him and my likeability in characters usually says something (see Xue Yang or Skeptic). We don't see him in present day so I worry about his safety ahh!! Mori after he killed the prev. boss is a whole vibe. Everything falling apart and he's scrambling to pick up the pieces oof. Younger Chuuya is a breath of fresh air like a previous comment said. Love to see the boys "back in the day and less traumatized". Send some kiddos to the Port Mafia to get Traumatized and then send em over to the Detective Agency to get idk counseling and therapy lol.

Ahhhh, yesssss, I've watched Episode 2 at this point, but it's good to know that it is indeed a "god" -- and ahhh, that's good to know about Akutagawa's hometown, haha! Yeah, Dazai is an enigma, and I'm sad he's caught up in the mafia from such a young age. Yeah, in comparison, Kouyou does't seem as dark or crazy, which is saying something. And Chuuya and Dazai....literally completing each other, eh? :) I love it! And yesss, Randou is so interesting! And Lovecraft? **mystery intensifies** Thanks for the comment!

Yeah, that is something really cool with this series and its flashbacks -- they all "feel" different! And yes, has Dazai always had a sense of nonexistence and wanted to end his own life? That is incredibly sad and I want to know more about his past...maybe we'll find out one day. And Mori being a shipper of Dazai and Chuuya is just wonderful! I love that this flashback reminds us they are children; again, sad, because they're surrounded by crime and death. At least they're there for each other! :3 Thanks for the kind words and have a great day, too!

As per fandom research, Arahabaki was once a famous tribal god somewhere in Hokkaido. Probably glossed over and forgotten since Yamato people came in. Also, connecting the dots from earlier seasons, it looks like Akutagawa grew up in Suribachi. I'd love to have at least some info on where Dazai has been before Mori, but alas. Oh yeah, that Mafia type of grooming looks so creepy ans strange sometimes. Luckily, Kouyou doesn't employ the same methods... probably... And yes, Chuuya is really a gust of fresh air for Dazai, very much needed for his sanity being in Mafia. Maybe vice versa in present? Ahh, Randou-kun. We'll return to his identity later, of course. One more mystery! Interesting thing you brought up Lovecraft, though...

I find it interesting that every timeline gives off another feeling. It's sad that the only time we see Dazai truly smile in the flashback is because of a comfortable way to kill himself. I really wonder how Dazai became suicidal. What happened to him that he thinks like that? Of course Mori is the no.1 Chuuya and Dazai shipper. XD "I'm fifteen. I'm still growing." But did you? XD I like that they remind us that they're still just kids. Chuuya and Dazai try to act grown up since they are in this environment that shows them death and murder all the time. They also probably need to act like that. Wish you a wonderful day!!

Oooh! That is really neat! Someone actually sent me a TON of BSD light novel and manga volume links back when I started the show, so I have an English translation of the "15" light novel! I've already recorded Episode 2 of this season, but I'll probably talk about reading the light novel before watching Episode 3! :D Thank you for that info -- that's interesting, since Dark Age is such a good adaptation from book to anime!

Romaniablack

Oh good -- I was a little confused in that moment, so that's good to get clarified!

Romaniablack

That's a great point -- in the Dark Age, Dazai was 18 and probably trying to act cooler and more grown up, but here, Dazai and Chuuya are 15-year-old teenagers and Dazai doesn't have to put on airs...and YES! I love Chuuya -- he's such a brat, but tries to pass it off as cool! We think he's cool at least! ^^

Just to clarify, Hirotsu and the previous boss are separate people in this. They just look similar with their white hair and beards.

I’ve been looking forward to this, but I have such mixed feelings about this adaptation. One one hand, I’m glad it exists to give an idea of how they met and to give Chuuya some much deserved screen time. On the other hand, this adaptation really butchers the book. It leaves out as much as it puts in (including the whole backstory of how Dazai and Mori met!) and I think it gives you a very incomplete picture of Dazai and Chuuya’s dynamic. Or at least Dazai’s side of it. Like the lines about why they hate each other when they first met. It was a much longer conversation that took place away from Hirotsu and they never said those things! In fact, one of the first things Dazai did was start teasing Chuuya about his height. While Chuuya stood on top of him kicking him 😂. I hope you will read the LN at some point. The official translation is coming out in December and is for preorder on Amazon. I also have a fan translation in the form of a kindle file that can be read on an actual kindle, or the free app, if you don’t want to wait three months. Not sure if files can be shared on here? Or maybe Discord?

I love this arc! I especially love how in the flashbacks we usually see Dazai portraying himself as this cool & dark persona BUT when he interacts with Chuuya he is more like the Dazai of the present, playful & childish. With Oda & Ango being older, Dazai probably felt like he had to act a bit more grown up to impress them, but with Chuuya he doesn’t care at all with impressing him so he’s free to be his true 100% bratty self. And Chuuya is SO cool! Or at least he thinks he is 😂 They are both so cute little psychopath killers😅💕
