Yona of the Dawn: Episode 1 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

LINK TO REACTION: https://pixeldrain.com/u/13WjymgC

So, a comedic shojo fantasy? An exiled princess? Hot men that can turn into DRAGONS?! I am going 100% blind into this show, but from the OP and what I've seen so far, I can tell you that:

* Hak is my new husbando
* Glad the plot-no-jutsu is keeping the incest at bay
* I am REALLY excited to get into this show!

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

Yona of the Dawn: Episode 1 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

Hello! Thank you so much for the support and kindness! Unfortunately, my reactions were taken down by the studio - I am in the process of trying to find a way to repost them - I am sorry for the inconvenience, but I hope you find some other series to watch on the channel and the manga reactions are still available! Thank you for the comment and support! I will update folks on here and YT when I eventually get them back up!

Romaniablack

Hi, Romania. I am your Japanese fan. I became a Patreon member to watch your reaction of Yona of the Dawn. Unfortunatelly, the reaction part has been removed. Is there any way I can watch it?

M Noel

I'm so excited to get into this show! Yeah, it's hooked me right off the bat! And ahhhhh, so we're linking from Stars Align to Yona via Nao -- yay! I wouldn't have recognized his voice, so thanks for that info! And yeah, the OP surprisingly works really well, given the genre and tone of it all! And I have my suspicions of Soo-Won, but we'll see! :D Thanks for the kind words! I hope you had a great day, yesterday, too and have a good one! :D

Romaniablack

I am SO excited!! Akayona is one of my favourite manga. So it's nice to see that you seem to enjoy it already. The show just gets better and better. Soo-won is voiced by Kobayashi Yusuke who voiced Nao from Hoshiai no sora. I'm trying not to fangirl too much about Soo-won but well he is my favourite so I probably can't help it. XD I think this show is the first anime that I've seen that has an opening song without a singer. But it really fits. "Do you even like women?" Well in my head he definitely doesn't. XD Wish you a wonderful day!!

There's so many anime that are great out there; I can see how things slipped through the cracks, but I'm so happy to be watching this with you all! And your notes have me very hyped to get into this show and these characters of the "harem!" :) Thanks for the kind words! I'm excited for the journey with this show!

Romaniablack

So, I never watched this, though I always intended to. My experience with it is reading a single relatively recent (i.e. two year old) chapter in the manga on a whim. I was so impressed with the development given to the members of the "harem" and how well they worked even in a story arc where they were separated from Yona and split into little groups. A lot of times, characters are so dependent on the main character (especially in a romantic story). I felt a great deal of depth in the world, the characters, and even in the villains - all in one chapter! I immediately put Yona on my to-watch list, and then... well, we had the last two years of amazing seasonal anime! I am really looking forward to finally catching up on this with your commentary.

Y'all don't know how ready I am for hot dragon boys, hahahaha! And that's great -- I have a feeling I'm going to want to read the manga after this show! :D I'm glad you all voted for it!

Romaniablack

yesssss!! Oh my gosh I voted for this show back then and it's definitely one of my favorites! The manga is AMAZING. It's one of the more recent action shojos that has a woman as the main character. It reminded me of Inuyasha when I was a kid, but wowowie so many hot dragon boys eheheheh

momo

I am SO excited to be starting both of these shows at the same time! It's fall and time for fresh new shows! I'm so glad y'all voted for this show because I really like it already! I get the historical angle of the "cousins" thing...buuuuuuttttt....could have been neighboring countries and childhood friends without the cousin angle, right? I kid, I just had fun bringing it up the more serious Yona's pleas about him were! Yeah, at least they weren't siblings, haha! I really like that quote! And yesss, I'm ready for the shenanigans this series looks like it's going to bring! :D I can't wait! Thanks for the kind words and comment!

Romaniablack

I am soooo excited! I haven't watched/read a Shojo in a while (other than Banana Fish) but I'm all about a character-driven series, so this should be fun! :D I have a feeling I'm really going to read the manga series when this is done already -- I just have that feeling, haha! I love going into a show with no clue what to expect and I'm glad I've done it with this one, too! And yeah, the Soo-Won reveal! @_@ Hak is all of the things you mentioned and I'm soooo ready to see him and the other boys in this story! :D Thanks for the kind words! I'm very excited!

Romaniablack

Oooh, a husbando up there with Gojo level? *hype intensifies* I'm sooo ready to see all these guys and the story unfold -- and yeaaaaaah, I get the era and historical context, but I couldn't help laugh at how DEAD SET she was on getting with Soo-Won. Like, GIRL, Hak is RIGHT THERE. :D Thanks for the kind words! I'm so excited, too!

Romaniablack

I'm SO excited to start both Yona and Moriarty at the same time! A fresh new show is always fun! And yessss, I have heard there are 3 OVA's to watch when this is over, and from what I've seen so far...reading the manga is probably going to happen! :D

Romaniablack

I am SO enjoying it so far!! I can't wait to get into it more!! :D :D

Romaniablack

OMG!! Finally, Yona of the Dawn is here! I have waited so long for this and Moriarty😂 I think you will love this anime. Yona of the Dawn is one of the best anime out there that portrays good strong female leads. Remember to watch all OVAs! and if possible, read the manga after the OVAs (I sadly doubt that there will be a season 2😭 )

Moriarty yesterday and Yona today, what a treat! I'm so happy you like the first episode, I'm one of the ones who voted for the series in previous polls haha. I kinda stumbled upon this hidden gem by accident years ago and the first thing that drew me in were the non-typical japanese names and setting, which was refreshing even though I love my samurai stories. The names sound Korean to me and the country reminiscent of the Three Kingdoms period. Even the clothing Yona wears isn't the usual kimono but a hanbok. And yes, the "cousins" thing is icky to us modern people but like you said, it wasn't that strange for the time period and class status, lol. At least they weren't siblings?😅 But then the rest of the story unfolded and I was hooked! I love me some adventure tales and political intrigue, plus excellent eye candy? Sign me up! More than fruits basket, this reminded me of one of the the very first time period anime I watched called "Saiunkoku Monogatari", from which one of my favorite lines comes from: "Remember, makeup is a woman’s war paint. When you head into battle, you must wear it; that way, you definitely can’t cry. If you cry, your makeup will run. No matter how little you applied, your face will end up looking disgraceful. That’s why no matter how hard things get, you definitely can’t cry." At the time I was watching this scene between the main character and a courtesan, this line from the courtesan really stuck with me even years later. I'm really looking forward to seeing this show again with you and for you to meet all the other characters! I have a feeling you'll love ALL of them😂

Yona!!! One of my favorite anime series of all time. It’s such a shame that no one ever gives Yona a chance because it’s shoujo and a little slow-paced in the beginning, but its so well-written and with SO MUCH CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!! I love this series to pieces, and I’ve bought every single manga volume since it released officially in English (and let me tell you, we are already at 30+ volumes). I’m actually so glad that you went into this blind. Whenever I recommend this series, I usually recommend them to just go into it blind since all the plot summaries basically spoil this first episode. I always love to see the plot twist be a genuine surprise for first-time viewers! (I think it’s also funny that the whole incest-part kind of threw you in for a loop about the Soo-Won reveal XD) And yes, Hak 100% husbando material. We love a man with a whole ton of wit, humor, and bad-ass-ery. Actually, there’s so many best bois in this series, so it’s hard for me to pick a favorite >_< and I can’t wait for you to meet the rest of the cast Gosh, I feel like there’s so much to talk about, but it was only just the first episode so there’s not much revealed yet. I’m so excited to see your reactions for this whole series, and I hope you enjoy it just as much as well!

Kixkay

yes! I was waiting for this.. Hak, the perfect husbando (has been my number 1 ever since I watched it, sharing the place only recently with Gojo haha) so excited that you are already loving him. Also, the voice actors are top level, Hak being voiced by Tomoaki Maeno and later you'll meet other characters with an amazing cast as well. I understand the dislike in all the incest theme but considering this anime is based in an era where that was somehow "normal" I try to let it pass haha. Anyways, excited for your next reactions and the discussions all the developments in this show can give.

Pau933

ohhh it begins! Yona is one of my now favorite animes and I'm so excited that you started it. The episodes *chefs kiss* and it just keeps getting better as it goes ahhh
