Violet visits a widowed woman and her daughter, whose situation parallels the loss that Violet has just had to come to grips with...sometimes it's the simplest things, and this stand alone story -- allowing Violet to express as much emotion as we've seen her in this series -- left me an absolute mess.

But yesss, since Episode 6, I feel each episode could impact someone in a unique way -- I think this episode also hit hard because my cousin lost her father when she was 9 (around Ann's age) and I could instantly recall Ann's reactions being some of my cousin's. I am sorry that your mother is going through that right now -- I can definitely see why this episode would be so impactful. And oh, oh wow...see, I didn't get that connection...welp, that was a detail KyoAni, that you didn't have to give us, but here we are...getting misty-eyed again.

One thing I really like about this show is that different people are impacted by different episodes depending on their own circumstances. You mentioned in episode 7 that the reason Oscar's story struck you was because you knew someone who lost a child. In my case, episode 10 hit hard because I could relate to Ann somewhat, as my mother has cancer and so our remaining time is also quite limited. Cool easter egg I only realized when watching your reaction: the book Violet reads for Ann is exactly the same one Gilbert had her read in episode 8 during one of the flashbacks.
