Attack on Titan Season 2: Episode 9 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

LINK TO REACTION: https://streamable.com/og7sey
**HEADPHONE WARNING**

So, as per the Attack on Titan usual, we FINALLY get a few tiny answers, and of course...several DOZEN more questions! I have ALL the questions about the Titans, but no time for that (despite this hour-long discussion)!

Reiner's odd actions are somewhat explained, Ymir jumps up my character rankings, Eren continues to be a psychopath (jk....maybe), and the Survey Corps have caught up to our teen Titans! It's about to get crazy -- err -- CRAZIER, isn't it?

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

Attack on Titan Season 2: Episode 9 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

Eren gets an "E" for Effort, right? XD And yessss, Ymir has FLOORED me with her character this season! And yeah, Reiner is also getting VERY interesting -- I have so much to say about him in the Recap! Ooohhh, I remember someone on YouTube commented in Episode 13 that it wasn't Marco, but maybe that was to throw me off -- Annie definitely has issues, like Reiner, with what's been happening. Bertholdt seems to be the one with the most resolve -- oddly enough -- towards getting the job done. SOOOO fascinating. But seriously, #letMarcoRIP Thank you for the kind words and I hope you have a great day, too!

I feel like this episode was one of the few times we saw Eren really think about what's the best to do. Well, he still kinda failed at it. But he's trying. XD Nice to see that Ymir is getting even higher in your rank now. She's amazing. I love that they showed us that even in a fiction world like this some people get fucked up by doing all these bad things. It makes Reiner even more interesting. And the "You've been going through so much it's making you crazy." from Eren three (?) episodes ago is so good now. The show doesn't want us to get over Marco. I've been wanting to write this for so long. In episode 13 of season 1 after we saw that Marco died, there is this scene where Annie apologizes to someone who we didn't saw and Reiner says something like that it's no use anymore. I guess that it was Marco. Wish you a wonderful day!!

LMAO -- that note about anger being all Eren knows? Yupppp .. hilarious. Levi would be so proud. It'll be interesting talking about Eren and Reiner in the recap video...along with Bertholdt!

Romaniablack

I have a feeling Reiner is going to be his own point in the recap video...that and trauma in general, heh heh. And Eren, God, Eren...he....tried. I just picture Levi sneezing off-camera as he fails to reign in his emotions.

Romaniablack

Eren: I will control and smother my emotions Eren 2 seconds later: *Aggressive question asking intensifies* Anger is all I know But yeah other than that which I found very funny, I always like how Reiner was given the emotional baggage of what they've done and such. And you are very right! I think Bert was all cryptic and quiet through season 1/2 cause he was just doing damage control for any random stuff Reiner might say, poor guy.

Jordan G

Just about all of these characters are in a constant state of trauma. I appreciate the inclusion of Reiner’s mental break to remind us that this isn’t normal shit that people can be fine with just because it’s a fictional world. And Eren’s attempt at emotional self-control was hilariously shot lived 😂

Julie

HA! Yes, I feel there's so many references Isayama does with the titan designs - they're all so distinct and odd, especially the Goldfish Eye Titan! :D

Romaniablack

Oh thank you so much for the kind words!! And oh my gooossh, yes, I can see why! Ever since episode 6, I've wanted them all to talk, and this exceeded my expectations -- we were't given clear answers, but juuuuust enough to tantalize and leave a lot to be theorized about, which I love! :D :D

Romaniablack

The mook Titan variants are starting to get more diverse, now bordering on self parody. We saw Santa Claus Titan, Anime Eyes Titan, Goldfish Eye Titan, now we see Suntanning Male Model Titan and Creepy Stalker Titan!

Nathan Hardy

I have never been so excited to get home and watch one of your reactions, this is by far one of my favorite episodes in the series and I am guessing you saw why. It feels like such a long awaited conversation even though it's only been a few episodes since the reveal. I just love how the way they deliver small bits of information that can be interpreted in many different ways since we don't have much context at this point.

daragh faro

Yeah, after Episode 10, I'm REALLY thinking back to Erwin's question of who the enemy is! Please don't spoil me, though, haha! If you can, please don't let me know if a plot point is going to be revisited or brought up in a future season -- I want to go into the seasons with as little knowledge of what's to come -- if that makes sense! :) That's part of the fun, right? :) Thanks so much for the comment! :D

Romaniablack

This is one of the episodes where the plot thickens yet again. Who REALLY is the enemy? That is the burning question. Going back to what Erwin asked Eren in S1, that question will come back to haunt us until we get an answer in Season 3 :) the Marco flashback… you’ll see the full version of this scene next season - again foreshadowing as its finest this episode. The next 3 episodes are bangers so I’m looking forward to your reactions.

Paco_Stil

@____@ Oh. OH. OOOOHHHHH! I hadn't even THOUGHT about that -- I had assumed Eren knew from Armin's book he showed them as kids (the one about life "outside the walls"), but I hadn't considered that! Thank you for that translation note!!!

Romaniablack

Something that most translations don't get right is that when Eren asks Ymir what she's talking about when she brings up the Beast Titan, he's asking her WHAT a monkey is. Eren has no idea what she's talking about, yet Ymir, for some reason knows what a monkey is...hmmm....

Polygon

That's a really good way to look at Reiner's character - he's been going insane with everything happening (I've watched Episode 10 at this point but that's it) so showing a character maddened by it all, while trying to keep his cool is SO interesting! And right?! SO SIMPLE BACK THEN. @_@ And yeahhhh, I'm sure he was glad she wasn't hurt; the implications of that could have thrown a wrench in so many things! And OOH! *hype intensifies* Yes, please remind me of whatever I said later on! :D *nervous laughter* and thanks for the kind words and comment! I'm not sure I'm ready for the end of this season!

Romaniablack

And this is why Reiner is one of my favorite characters. We needed someone going insane in a non-psychotic mode haha (although I love all my psycho characters as well). Also, there is another foreshadowing to Reiner, Annie and Bertholdt back in season 1 episode 8, right when you started shipping Reiner and Annie haha ohh good old times. When Annie saved Connie and Reiner told her something like "glad you didn't get hurt" because yeah, now we know what that would have meant. And I will save something you said here (won't spoil what) and show it back to you in 2 more seasons so you can laugh :D Interesting discussion as always and can't wait for the last few episodes of the season

Pau933

Haha, thanks! Now, Episode 10 on the other hand? That discussion feels long to me, but maybe not...my brain was MUSH. I'm waiting until it's here on Patreon before watching Episode 11, I've need that long to process. @_@

Romaniablack

wow, for a long hour discussion, this video went by fast. :3

The truck

Right?! Hahaha, Eren trying to be "big brain" and not get emotional -- you just want to pat him on the shoulder and say, "Ahhhh...ya tried, hun. You really did..." XD And YES! Armin and Ymir might as well be in the Top 10! And was it Annie that Reiner had pinned down? We couldn't see, so that'll be interesting if we come back to those moments...I'm starting to see a looooooot of parallels with Reiner and Eren, especially in regards to memory at this point, so I'll need to tread back on that.

Romaniablack

Eren is indeed a bit psycho this episode despite really trying to big brain and be less emotional for a bit. He really just can’t stop himself from his psychotic “I’m going to kill every one of you” tendencies. Also, I love how the top 10 of the 104th + Armin and Ymir by association are treated like “main” characters in emotional moments. Marco comes back for a horrific flashback scene and you also see a glimpse of Annie all bound in this cruel moment in Reiner’s experiences as a soldier and warrior. They keep coming back to that main core even after they die.

Pada Lee

*Clutches Knife in Heart* Yep...he suuuuuuuure is, isn't he? #LetMarcoRIP

Romaniablack

Marco is the king of cameos
