Welp, it's happened again. Romania.exe is melted. Brain is mush...

Ymir...Ymir, you have had the most insane 180-degree turn from the start of this season to now, but I underestimated the impact your character would have on me. So, titan shipping? Check. More questions now that I have a few answers? Check. A Deeply unsettling feeling of dread now that we're slowly scratching through the surface of this world? CHECK CHECK CHECK!

Hey, humanity, it's been real, and it's been great...it's been really great...but I need to know more about the titans' side of the story, now! The climax of Season Two is coming, and I'M NOT READY!

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

Attack on Titan Season 2: Episode 10 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

Also, thanks for sticking up for me on YT! :) I appreciate it!

"No, this is right" - That, I feel, is Isayama to the tenth degree. Insanity. Ahhh, that makes more sense about Reiner being in "warrior mode" when Bertholdt asks him about Ymir. And wow, that's VERY intriguing of Reiner's obsession with Christa being played at from both sides, both his solder (showing more as a romantic crush) and warrior (needing her for "the mission") -- that's really cool! Interesting... And yeah, I hadn't thought about that, but Ymir isn't ACTUALLY her name, just what she was given. Definitely looking forward to talking about all of our titans in the recap! God, no joke -- I'm not sure how long the recap will be...Half the episodes, double the apv for the toasts? Heh Heh...that sounds...dangerous. We'll see. Y'all will have to remind me when we get to that point where I'm going to eat my words, hahaha! And OOOOOOH, I am very familiar with Pepe Silvia. Keeping it somewhat a surprise, but I actually thought ahead and have something for the recap planned that relates to that. ^^ We'll see how it goes -- I definitely felt like him during this discussion, though! :D And NO JOKE. You all said Season One was "so simple," and I stared at you all unsure. Nah, I get it, now.

Romaniablack

Ymir waking up a a human with the soundtrack was so gorgeous, even if it makes my brain melt with questions! And now I'm so glad I watched the OVA because that connection is WILD. Ahhh, my brain was a series of question marks this episode...with the exception of Eren and Reiner going at it...that's been one of the funniest moments in this show so far! I'm glad y'all are on board for my crazy theories...it's going to be fun looking back and seeing what all was right and wrong with them. :) Thank you for the kind words and have a great day, too!

Romaniablack

Seriously, 6 and 10 have had similar effects! The casual reveal of things SO IMPORTANT to the story -- Isayama is a fiend for just throwing this in our laps! "gives answers to questions you didn't even know you had" -- that's the thing; I was spending so much of the discussion trying to wrestle through these questions I didn't even know I had until this episode! And yesssss, the tragedy of Ymir's circumstance and all of the questions it raises...ahhhh, so much to take in. My brain melted this episode, but I feel refreshed after a week, so maybe I'll be ready for episode 11 now, heh heh heh!

Romaniablack

I'm SO excited by the very fact that stuff in my discussion is going somewhere; haha! I felt I was all over the place -- and ahhh -- the imagery is so gorgeous this episode...and I have that feeling the pieces are there...we just need to know what picture it all assembles to make, right? @_@ Thank you so much for the kind words, though! I'm refreshed after a week and ready to go with episode 11!

Romaniablack

I kept saying I wanted lore, but I wasn't ready for THAT much all at once! And yessss, more questions, but finally SOMETHING in the form of an answer -- I LOVE the callback to the OVA; I really enjoy when shows callback and connect to the "extra" material from OVA's/movies/specials. Ahhh, I definitely enjoyed this episode, but my head needed a rest after it...I'm not sure I'm ready for Episodes 11 and 12, but what can we do? :P

Romaniablack

I LOVE this metaphor of the story being two puzzles...ahhhh, going to have to reference that! And I feel like that's so accurate - thank you for the kind words. It was nice reacting ahead because I seriously needed a full week to recover from this episode! @.@

Romaniablack

OH MY GOSH...it's his dad, isn't it?! @___@ Welp. Isayama, you FIEND. So at least Sasha didn't kill him in that episode, but man.....that's insanity!

Romaniablack

No, that seriously should be the tagline for this episode!!! XD

Romaniablack

I can see why! It's definitely up there for me -- GAME CHANGER for sure -- a grenade of foreshadowing, indeed. Ahhh, I felt like my discussion was all OVER the place, but I'm glad you enjoyed it! It'll be interesting to see what comes of it in the later episodes! :)

Romaniablack

Thank you SO much for the kind words and comment! Yessss, I took a whole week off to reset my brain, and now I'll hopefully be able to watch episode 11 tonight! :D

Romaniablack

I'm glad you found that funny! I'm here with all the AOT Romantic Hot Takes...and desperate need desire for Bertholdt x Annie fan fiction. ;)

Romaniablack

I was so excited for this episode because of all the lore we got. The more information we get the wilder your theories are and I enjoy every single one of them. The dark humor in this show is too funny. Oh my god, yes the titan and the guy look similiar and they did the same things. I didn't even noticed that. The scene when Ymir wakes up as a human is definitely one of my favourite scenes, it's so beautiful. And the Soundtrack was amazing too. I don't even remember what I thought watching this episode for the first time. XD Wish you a wonderful day!!

Toni simi

"are bertholdt and annie gonna have sex??" okay idk why this made me laugh out loud, probably because a thought like that never crossed my mind when watching aot hahah

brianna a

“I’m a Titan right now, trying to eat people to get more info.” 🤣🤣🤣 I’m laughing and crying with you. Thank you for this reaction, it was amazing. I hope you brain has had a chance to reboot. Hang in there ❤️

Julie

This has to be my favorite episode of the season. What a game changer, right? Here are some answers.. Kind of.. Not designed for your compression, viewer. Just deal with it. It’s kind of like a grenade of crumbs cuz we only got bits and pieces without the context, but we get a ton of it. And the discussion! There were things I want to say so badly about your discussion. Little comments. But I can’t. Damn! They don’t seem like spoilers, but somehow they would probably be saying too much. So I’ll just say that it was an enjoyable discussion XD

Julie

This episode is everything you could want from an AoT episode, for so long they fed us scraps of information and then we get this massive lore drop, of course it also gives us tons of questions but I love that we finally get rewarded for all the emotional pain we had to endure. It's awesome that you noticed Ymir's follower meeting Ilse, the whole situation feels like such a coincidence, what are the chances that it was Ymir's titan that found Ilse and mistook her for Ymir. Nice to wrap up the ova though, sort of. Glad you enjoyed the episode as much as I did, hard to think we only have 2 episodes left but super exciting. Enjoy!

Summary of this reaction: what? What? WHATTTT????

Trung Ta

I really do wish that I could say literally anything, but even pointing out subtle details in episodes you’ve already seen can lead to spoilers, such as with the hints about Reiner and Bertholtd. The imagery and sound work is astonishing in this show, and if you pay close enough attention, you’ll find that you have most of the pieces of the puzzle already, but I wouldn’t assemble it until you have the full set. I love the reactions and theory crafting, keep it up!

ian

Or RAMB! That's a word too, I think? Oh, since now it's quite established who the Titan in Connie's village is according to that portrait, does another titan also look familiar? Like .... a certain titan from .... Season 2 Episode 2? 🤔

Nathan Hardy

The amount of times I said "yes, but no, but yes, but no" to your questions was very many. I've been waiting for this episode, because it's like we were working on a puzzle, only to find out this one picture is split over two boxes, and we're missing a whole box. Love watching the twice a week mind melt

Moth (GreenAppleSause)

Finished the reaction and working my way through the discussion. Episode 10 is like Episode 6 for me. Hits you like a truck with casual or unexpected reveals that give you answers to questions you didn’t know you had and even more questions. Ymir’s backstory still get me chills even after rewatching the series quite a few times. Lots to digest here! Looking forward to listening to the whole discussion!

Isayama: "Did somebody order a ton of bricks ?" Audience: "That already came 4 episodes ago" Isayama: "No, this is right" A slight correction to begin with: When Bertholdt says to Reiner "Do you trust Ymir as a warrior ?" he is referring to Reiner being in his "warrior"-persona. I agree, that is somewhat unclear in the translation. Essentially he wants to know if Reiner is in full possession of his faculties right now and then if the decision to trust Ymir stems from his warrior side. Reiner has this obsession with Christa, that almost certainly stems (more ?) from his "soldier" side. It kinda makes you think though - Is his obsession with Christa a rationalization of some kind ? We know she has something to do with "the mission", so Reiner was also focussed on her before he even knew her. We don't really know what role she plays and what they would have done with her, but i think it's safe to assume that Christa wouldn't just willingly take part in whatever that is. Maybe the "soldier" side of Reiner manifested his obsession with her as romantic attraction. Just some food for thought. Oh, and "Ymir" who isn't actually named Ymir or rather changed her name to Ymir. I think it is interesting that she didn't fully know how the whole Titan thing works, Bertholdt and, one has to assume, Reiner seem to know rather well, though it is clear that she knows more than the average human. Make of that what you will. I am very much looking forward to you dissecting her character in the recap. Speaking of which, this will be one hell of a recap ! Half the episodes, double the recap ? :) Also, yes, you've been infinitely quotable the last few episodes for all kinds of reasons. I guess those quotes will pop up eventually, when the time is right, unless people forget. Though it should come as no surprise that there have been some "moments" that surely got a reaction from people. On a side note, are you familiar with "It's always sunny in Philadelphia" ? Or at least the Pepe-Silva-meme ? I mean that in the utmost positive way, but this discussion section kinda reminded me of that. That is what AoT does to people, haha. Thank you for the entertainment, the season 2 content is absolutely great, loved every minute of it, and, without trying to build up pressure, i know there is more to come. "Remember when AoT was simple ?" indeed.

SpaceMonkey

Seriously, you hit it -- Ymir has gone from a "C" rank character...well....up pretty high, but I'll save it for the recap. ;) And YES -- this episode for me is the "Turning Point" or "Point of No Return" in Attack on Titan. Episode 6 was the bombshell reveal, but even then it was still "Us" vs. "Them." With THIS episode...the game just got more complicated tenfold! I definitely can't look at the show the same way after this. And thank you so much for the kind words! I'm glad y'all are enjoying my ramblings and thank you for the song title -- it's soooo beautiful! <3

Romaniablack

Oh man, I did NOT see the Faye Valentine comparison, but now it's all I see, hahahaha! So who's Spike? :P And yesss, I feel so bad for her character...uhm, I like BRAM since it's...a word...hahahaha! At least we got a name for him now!

Romaniablack

Ymir is the Faye Valentine of Attack on Titan, a survivor from an era long long past, now cynical as hell and looking out for herself. She's a "shit happens" victim of circumstance, at the wrong place at the right time, waking up right next to Reiner, Annie, Berthold, and (now his name's mentioned) Marcel. RABM. Or MARB? or BRAM? or ARMB? 🤔

Nathan Hardy

An iconic episode for all followers of Ymir, which of her episodes are not iconic though.. I just love how a character can go from C/B to S tier in 2 episodes. If there is one episode that sticks with you throughout your time watching AoT, it's this one.. her story as we know it seems so tragic and the way she acted towards others in earlier episodes makes a lot of sense now. Thanks for giving me something to look forward to when I get home and sorry for the long unorganized text (mobile Patreon). Ps. The song used in Ymir's backstory is called "Call of silence". Its so beautiful and really fits her character.
