Yona of the Dawn: Episode 6 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Link to Reaction: https://pixeldrain.com/u/yAszVMDW

For the record, I LOVED THIS EPISODE. It's my favorite of the series so far, and there is SO much to love with it: The action with Hak vs. the Fire Tribe, Yona going "full Mulan," Tae-Jun's anguish (that animation!), Soo-Won's lamenting (THAT ANIMATION), and a surprise thematic discussion of man vs. god...ending with the ol' priest finally popping in.

If you aren't watching this series right now, you SHOULD BE.

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

Yona of the Dawn: Episode 6 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

I agree with you! THIS episode truly sold me on the show! The animation and expressions, especially Tae-Jun's in this were CHILLING. Good to know that Soo-Won is into Hak, but who ISN'T, and that the manga is the same as the anime...how can he bathe in a robe, though? @.@ And nooo, I usually play devil's advocate for the complex antagonist, and Soo Won seems to be no exception, but I'm really interested in getting more with him! And I did NOT notice he was tearing up!! Oh wow! Hmmm.... And Hak...out here making all men look inferior. What can we do?! I am so saddened that he hurt Yona and Hak...clearly this is no simple matter...hmmm....interesting. And YES! I have a feeling I'm going to like Ik-Soo and Yun a lot! Thank you for the kind words and have a great day, too!

I liked the first 5 episodes but this was the one that sold the show for me. Yona cutting her hair was so badass. The animation on the fight with Hak was amazing. The Fire in Yona's eyes give me chills. I feel bad for Tae-jun, his expression really got me. This episode made me more interested in his character. Soo-won is definitely into Hak. XD The animators knew what they would do to me when they animated the scene with Soo-won in the water. In the manga he had the robes on too. I'm so happy that you don't hate Soo-won because everytime I see someone that says they hate him my heart stings a little. XD He's such a complex character and you want to know more about him but we only get little crumbs of him. Hak genuinely wanted Yona and Soo-won to be happy even if that means he has to see the person he loves be with his best friend. This man. I'm not sure if you noticed but when Soo-won closed his eyes and leaned against Hak you could see that he started tearing up. That ripped my heart out. From what we know Soo-won wanted revenge for his father so the happy smiles when he was young must be real since we know that at that time his father was still alive. He's my favourite character but I hate that he hurted Hak and Yona by killing King Il and betraying them. But you can see that Soo-won wants the best for the Kingdom. I really like this whole concept with the god and Priest. It's so interesting and adds new layers to the story. Yun and Ik-soo are here. Let's see how that develops. Wish you a wonderful day!!

After this episode, I am SO convinced that Soo-Won is secretly (or not so much) into Hak! But also...everyone wanting Hak is SUCH a true statement! Hahaha! I LOVED this episode -- all the things you said, including Tae-Jun's moments and the animation on him, were just wonderful! I can't wait to get into the manga with this episode, too! And yessss, Soo-won is so complex, and I love it! It's a shame people don't give this series a chance, because it really is wonderful! And seriously, Banana Fish is possibly my favorite anime/manga -- it's a shame because these are just GOOD stories. Thank you for the kind words! I'm SO excited to see where this goes!

Yessssss, all here for it! And yes! So, I've heard the OVA's happen after "certain" chapters of the manga, so I think I'm going to pick up with the manga where the anime leaves off and when we get to the part of the manga that has an OVA based off of it, I'll do the manga review and the OVA together, if that makes sense! I'm so excited!

Romaniablack

Bisexual Soo-won? here for it haha. i heard you're reacting to the manga (wooo!) but will you be doing the 3 OVAs after the anime and before the manga? They just hit different and are canon.

Exactly. Hak doesn't have a dragon behind him...he's the "thunder beast" for a reason.

My long-standing theory of this whole entire series is that…. Soo-Won is SUPREMELY in love with Hak 😂😂😂 then again, everyone wants Hak so 🤣🤣🤣 This is also my favorite episode! The cutting of the hair, the Hak badassery, the intro to our pretty boy genius Yoon! You know, rewatching this episode with you, I actually teared up when Tae-Jun brought Yona’s hair back to Soo-Won. The voice acting on Tae-Jun’s part was just so well done. I truly felt how devastated he was in that moment. I can’t wait for you to get into the manga bc, well, let’s just say that some characters come back and get their own development. I also agree that Soo-won is such a complex character, and at this point, we only have pieces of the different narratives being told. I’m caught up to where the manga is currently, and I still feel like we don’t have all the piece yet. Which is fine with me Bc I don’t want Yona’s journey to end yet! I’m so glad you’re enjoying it so far! Not many ppl give this series a chance Bc they think it’s just another one note shoujo (this also happens with BL - and esp Banana Fish which can be deemed as both - which I think is just so dumb - no matter the genre, a good story is a good story!). Anyways, I look forward to the rest of your reactions for this series (especially when you meet the rest of the team)!

I really loved this episode as well. Also, the talk about gods is very intriguing. As I personally am always very interested in any form of religion in any type of story. Things like those seem to always get my attention, (kinda like the priest in aot got me VEERY interested from the time I first saw in hin the background of ep 1) IN this case, the religion seems quite interesting, I won't be able to tell fully why (bc obviously you haven't seen enough) But ever since So Woon's "I have no interest in heaven that only watches" (or smt like that too lazy to go back for the exact wording) I really love that idea, because if they only watch, what will they do? do they just need entrainment or are they just disinterested in their own creation? And from So Woon's side of things, if the gods do not approve of what you do, then what? If they're gods "who only watch" it's not like they would do anything about it, wherever they disapprove or approve. Yet, we're talking about gods who don't openly interact with humans or don't even interact at all, so it's a whole question of belief, do you believe that gods might be involved in something after all? So Woon doesn't or he doesn't care. In that case, even if the gods DID interact with humans, it would make So Woon's case any different, since its a question of belief, if a person does or doesn't believe in something without any proof. I kinda wondered what it would be like if So Woon, the villain, ended up being the one in the right, at least by the stuff about gods. BUT we have a priest? A man of gods. And that alone kinda gives the vibes at least about gods being on our side? maybe? because if they weren't then I don't think the priest would be so... "with" them (Idk how to word this, English ain't my 1st language.) ALSO, I'm really in love with So Woon as a king for no reason at all? I kinda want him to be in the right at least somewhat because I just want to see what So Woon will do as a king, I want to see what he does, and I kinda want him to succeed, despite not knowing his goals for more than something about "making a great nation" (I'm not caught up with the anime, I saw it a LOONG time ago but forgot everything, except the major plot and a few charas, so when I saw this becoming a series you started to react, I just binged so I'm a few eps ahead of you only. JUST so you know that I'm not spoiling by saying "I don't know", it's because I neither, know how this goes and not because the anime might not answer to it. ) I don't really even know what I was trying to say with this comment. (I don't really have many people to talk with these things, so I usually end with a word vomit, sorry about that) BUT I loved this episode a lot. and that for some reason I just kinda want to see So Woon succeed. p.s. the way this ep kinda made me want to see a lil more of Tae-Jun, something about the way he reacted to "yona's death" p.p.s. don't know if someone else mentioned it (or if I just missed you saying that you noticed it) but has doesn't have a dragon behind him in the opening, he has a wolf. ▼・ᴥ・▼ p.p.p.s. about the love cirle, it's kinda cute how hak and So Woon would be kinda cute together. of course, yona x hak is supreme to So Woon x Hak, but in any other show So Woon x hak would be just something so precious. For some reason almost all the ships in this show is hak x someone. Not telling much, BUT there. is. a. lot. of. people. who. fit. in. with. hak.
