Isayama has given us many themes in Part 1 of season 3 to think about...and now we're challenging them! There are SO MANY character parallels in this episode -- both sides are far more similar than they realize, aren't they?
While there's a standoff with Armin and Bertholdt (which I never thought we'd get), this is definitely the latter's episode! Bertholdt...and a familiar face finally gets closure. **tears up**
So...Isayama...how we gonna fight this Colossal Titan?

You literally said everything I wanted to sayšš½Yes! This really was Bertholdt's episode too. He's coming into his own now but at the worst possible time for our scouts lol So many parallels too. This is one of my favorite episodes for the Marco reveal & Bertholdt alone. Opening up with Marco made my heart drop cuz that scream is just crushing. King Jean tryna hold it together while Sasha & Connie losin it over them attacking Reiner. That scene really hurts cuz it was them in the beginning with Reiner too. They know he's the enemy but there's confliction with who Reiner was before. I can't imagine how Connie feels either. Reiner saved him, He saved Reiner, Reiner supported him & tried to hold him together with the death of his family. There's a lot of emotions there so I appreciate them showing them cry in that moment. Jean's confliction too.

2021-12-14 18:06:03 +0000 UTCI've been so excited for this episode. Who would have thought that Marco's death would have such a big impact in the story. It seems like there can't be a season without new Marco flashbacks. He was just too smart for his own good. 'We didn't even talked this through.' This line. What would have happend if they just talked? I've seen a lot of people wonder why Marco didn't get up and try to flee. It seems like some people forget that every person reacts different in life and death situations, some get super strong others are so terrified they can't move at all. And for Marco it was the latter. Sadly. I think the agreement Zeke meant was the one they made at the end of the first half, that they wait with saving Annie if he wins. Berthold is for me with Jean the most relatable character. I'm a lot like Berthold when it comes to doing things. I'm insecure of doing something wrong so I want people to tell me what to do. This episode made me really appreciate his character. I loved the line from Berthold about the cruel world and the parallel between him and Mikasa. And Jean trying to be strong but seeing his close friends like this also made him almost cry. Wish you a wonderful day!!

Bertholdās line about the cruel world totally brought me back to Season 1 when Mikasa said the same thing to Eren when he asked her how she could go out and fight their comrade (Annie). To think that Bertholt would find Mikasa level resolve.. I wish you and your sanity luck with the 3 episodes in a row viewing plan.

Cause instead of trying to escape or get to the ODM gear that Annie conveniently threw into the window next to him, Marco decides to lay completely still, not move at all, and yell/cry/whine one final rambling soliloquy (again, while NOT moving at all) as the Titan inches up to him! LOL :D What did Humanity do to be called an Evil Race!? Perhaps they heard out about Zachary's little Human Centipede chair, could that be it?!?!? :O What you say about Zeke actually jives with his bio from the official video game. "A mysterious man who was seen emerging from the nape of the Beast Titan, about which little is known. Reiner and Bertholdt refer to him as their commander. He comes across as somewhat aloof, but otherwise unfathomable." But it does explain the context from Season 2, when Reiner and Bertholdt were completely scared shitless when they see him at Utgard Castle. Because if your commander has to personally go find out WTF you've been doing the past 5 years, that's when you know .... that you fucked up bad :P

Coffee's always a good choice. ;) UGH....Marco....also, the connections to that title to Mikasa....interesting... And YES, I'm guessing this Zeke has "issues;" I cannot read him AT ALL. But the deal you're referring to makes sense. And God, Connie and Sasha (and all of them) needed a therapist months ago...seriously, therapists in this world would make BANK, indeed. Also, your last lines...*nervous chuckle* I'm getting ready to watch Episode 16 tonight, so....wish me luck! :) Thanks for the comment!

2021-12-11 17:46:19 +0000 UTCI'm going to need to start making coffee before these drop, aren't I? RIP Marco Boldt for (I think) the last time. Our freckled angel deserved better . I still remember when that chapter came out. Chapter 77 led to a lot of emotions, and it was "The World They Saw". Name reveal for Zeke "Monke" (REDACTED). That man has... issues. As for the deal that he mentioned, it was the fight he had with Reiner in the last part, and the deal was if Zeke won, they wait to go back for Annie, but if Reiner won they would go back for her immediately. Zeke won, so they have to wait to go back for her. Connie and Sasha are going to need so much therapy. If there is one. Seriously. Everyone needs so much therapy. Being a therapist in that world would mean making serious bank... Watching these is so fun because just knowing what's coming has me waiting for your brain to melt. No one and nothing is safe, not the characters, not the timeline, not the world as its known, not your sanity.
