The Untamed: Episodes 17-18 FULL LENGTH Reaction!
Added 2021-12-27 18:01:01 +0000 UTCI thought maybe things would get better/happier after Episodes 15 and 16.... Ha ha ha. Yeah, sure, show. Nah, these episodes were a mixture of pain, pure sugar (with Ning), and such amazing foreshadowing for those that have seen the donghua and know what is to come...
...BUT HOLY SMOKES, ZHAN! Seriously, Zhan's performance as Wei WuXian in these episodes was SO good -- we can see the trickling evolution of the Yiling Patriarch as WuXian deals with guilt, anger, desperation, sadness -- a full gambit of emotions surrounding the loss of his home and family and the desire to protect and save his remaining family...while unknowingly developing a new family with Ning and Qing. It's crazy good stuff and I'm here for it!

Zhan in the cape is so epic, right?! All the foreshadowing, the little moments with the actors; it's all so well done! That's SUCH an interesting note about Song Lan, XingChen, and Boashan Sanren...I hadn' t thought of that! @.@ And ahahahahaha, oh, I don't know if I could not listen to him in that moment of "kneeling" either! Thank you for the clarification with the mountain and the Core transfer -- they do a great job of making us question and not for sure know what's going on, eh? And yesssssssss, next week should be fun; some of my favorite episodes so far!

Oh yes Xiao Zhan plays him very well, that paranoid-scared-trusting-aggressive mood swings are so nicely done, and makeup artists, clothing artists, they did their bit magnificently. I loved the cape! Emotional scenes with Yanli cut like the best Japanese kitchen knife does. This one, and one from 20-something episode. Nope, that actor pair doesn't let us down ever. Looking at the sky like it's his last time, oh WWX. Those 50% odds are not for success\failure, that's obviously success or death, for both of them probably. Remember, in the donghua WWX makes a small fire in his hand before talking to Jiang Cheng? Weighing his future without cultivation, just like he had thought of future without a right hand. Song Lan's story gives him a perfect narrative to dupe his siblings but also makes me think... Xingchen, honey? Was there ever a Baoshan Sanren in your eyes transfer part? Or did you spin a fake story as well since none of her disciples are allowed to return after leaving? Baby Wei Ying trying not to become a problem in any way and still very much shunned and cursed at. Those little shoes are totally wrong size but he would never complain. Yiling Laozu and Hanguang-jun, fashionable killer husbands! I guess since you went ahead with the recording, there has been the "KNEEL" scene already XD Ah, I would obey at the drop of a hat. Core transfer actually happens at the mountain in any adaptation, the show just makes us and Jiang Cheng think Wei Ying will wait at the foot of the mountain, but he goes to the top later to join them, and then goes down, looking like shit. That's another tell for those who missed the setup, along with Wen Zhuliu's reaction. Can't wait for the glorious Laozu entrance, ah.

Yesss, the clothing and symbolism have been great in this show so far; but the moments with Cheng and WuXian was so great in this set of episodes...ugh...especially when you know what's to come later down the road... And YES! Wangji is just a master of entering the room at this point! :) I'm so excited for more of his fabulous "arrivals" onto the scene. His range of emotions here is SO good! @.@ YES, that "Maybe it's all my fault" line was so hard to hear! :( And seeing Yanli so distressed, too -- these episodes were nearly as hard as the last set! :(

And it makes the upcoming revenge even more delicious... which we aren't far off now *rubs hands in glee* This show does SUCH a great job as you've noted at designing clues in clothing design choice, slowly building up character development, and juxtaposing situations that drop little subtle hints and parallels that forecast future developments or highlight key themes. I really enjoy that Wei Wuxian putting the blindfold directly on Jiang Chiang himself is such a wonderful metaphor, as Wei Wuxian hasn't just physically but also metaphorically blindfolded Jiang Chiang in this moment to the reality of how he will be getting his core back.... And we have in this same episode another character who regained his eyesight after he was taken to see Baoshen Sanren by Xiao Xingchen. Not only setting up a great cover story/connection for Wei Wuxian to make a convincing lie for Yanli and Jiang Cheng but also setting up an interesting parallel with characters experiencing miracle healing and real and metaphorical blindness. Wangji making--yet another--dramatic a** entrance like a KING. We stan. My favorite Wangji incredibly extra entrance is coming up soon as well, I think you'll know when you see it. Just discovered your Patreon account and binging your Untamed and MDZS donghua reactions (my gift to myself for the holidays, lol).

You probably know a bit since you recorded ahead. I can't wait for next week, but meanwhile I'm not ready for more pains. But at least two despicable people would be out of the picture in the next set of episodes so hooray to that!

2021-12-27 21:14:26 +0000 UTCThe transfer happens up in the mountains, Wuxian and Qing had to really sell the fake story and make him go up the mountain first. Xiao Zhan is our perfect Wei Wuxian he acts out all the stress and grief perfectly Wuxian and Yanli scene where he says “maybe it’s all my fault” absolutely breaks me. He acts tough but he really listens when being blamed by people. Yanli looks so sad and they break down together... he cries with his head on her lap... THE PAIN 😭😭
