ARCANE: Episode 2 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

So Jayce and Viktor, eh? I may love them already and the chemistry they share.

This episode is a big set up to the end of "Act I" as we have our main players all lined out, we have a clear conflict set up, and now the chips are about to fall...I love the worldbuilding we're getting and the VISUALS in this episode, both just animation-wise but with the symbolism as well were well done. Nothing bad could come of all this setup though, right?

Thank you for watching with my brother and I, and thanks for the support!

ARCANE: Episode 2 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Yesssssssss, everything you said about them is why I am loving Vitkor and Jayce as a ship so far! They're just so wholesome together; science boyfriends and I'm 100% here for it! I'm a sucker for the opposite physicality in a couple as well. And Jayce as the slightly more snarky, bratty one and Viktor the sweet and charming one? *chef's kiss* Yesss, Powder is definitely giving off "inventor" vibes and I can't wait to see where that leads! And the design/animation of this show is SO good -- I definitely will want to re-watch this series later on! Thank you for the kind words and comment! Bring on episode 3, eh?

Yep, I'm fully on board the Viktor/Jayce ship as well! Besides the instant chemistry between them and the harmony of their goals and interests, I was also just drawn in by the complementary contrast in their physicality and presence. Jayce is designed with this muscular, broad-shouldered, and straight frame (which totally makes sense, given his family's hammer/blacksmithing-type business)--and he just looks healthy and vibrant with well-tanned skin, and takes up a center space on the screen and with the audience. Viktor, on the other hand, especially when compared next to Jayce, is obviously weaker, with a sickly pallor and bent/twisted frame. He is also shown here on the margins and never really in the limelight (literally in that trial scene and again when we see Jayce about to commit suicide with Viktor stepping partially out of the shadows). It's just a cool, somehow complementary juxtaposition between the two and I like it. Murder child indeed... Love your observations both on Powder's genius and the implications of the kind of trinkets and weapons she makes. Put in a pin on that, you'll probably want to circle back to that soon! This is my second time watching this and it's fun to pick up new details each time, and to also just step back and appreciate again the beautiful design of this show. So glad you're watching this one, your commentary helps me appreciate some of the animation choices even more.

Ooooooohhhhhh, that makes a lot of sense! Thank you for that information! I'll be sure in a future reaction to mention that to my brother and we can talk about it before starting the next "act." :) I really appreciate that information -- it does add to the reasons why there is the toxins/fumes in Zon versus Piltover and the division between them. Thank you for that and the comment! :)

Ahhh, gotcha! I read early 90's Justice League comics and I remember bits and pieces of the original Superman movies from the 70's; that's a neat reference!

The lights from above and the ultimate punishment being banishment just reminded me of the 1978 Superman. Otherwise i do prefer Batman, he certainly has the better movies, games and animated shows.

Some things I thought you would find interesting (no spoilers included!) from the lore of Runeterra (that's the name of the world Arcane takes place on). According to what I know (this is entirely from memory, so don't blame me if I get something wrong!) the history of Piltover goes like this: On a thin land bridge between two large continents a group of entrepreneurs decided they could establish a major shipping lane if they were to trench a canal from one ocean to the other. They accomplished this primarily by blasting the canal through the unoccupied side of a mountain with explosives, which resulted in a new river running down the middle of the colony. They named the river the Pilt, and the higher half of the city residing on the mountain became known as Piltover (literally built over the pilt river). However, continued excavations with explosives breached deep and previously unknown pockets of gasses (later referred to as the fissures) causing a tremendous series of explosions beneath the lower half of the city, sinking it into the ground, and filling it with noxious fumes. The wealthy of the city fled to Piltover, and the working class of Piltover were displaced to the lower half city, which due to it's new elevation became referred to as the undercity. The fissures were found to contain more than just gasses, also unearthing great wealth of minerals, and the undercity grew as essentially a de-facto workers colony for the miners sent into the poisonous fissures to mine wealth for Piltovers gentry. I think this context is important to understanding the uprising that starts the story, where Powder and Vi's parents die, and the motivations and/or culpability of all those involved.

Ooohhh, interesting! I was more of a Batman person growing up than Superman, so that's maybe why it didn't click! :D

Piltovers judicial system seems overly dramatic and is seemingly based on the one on Krypton.
