It's the end of Volume 2, y'all, and MXTX is not playing!
We find out who our "mystery man" is and he has QUITE a connection to our stallion protagonist! Is Shen QingQiu the target of an entire bloodline? Is he finally about to break from the "path" of the original novel?!
And as this volume wraps up and this seems a potential "tale as old as time in the making, the question remains: Is Shen QingQiu going to be given a library from this "beastly mongrel?" I guess we'll find out in Volume 3!

RIGHT?! The donghua is really missing out on SO many moments; although, reading at this point -- I do worry if the donghua wouldn't be able to "get away" with some of the scenarios like Volume 2 presents us! Ooooh, I definitely love the concept of Death of the Author with Zhuzhi-Lang, especially as he mainly has that “loyal” trait attached to him, which is what his character seems to be running with at this point in the story. The connection to the Greek myths with his origins are also really fun! And of COURSE SQH feels like a little dog (not beating the twink allegations at this point) alongside Mobei-Jun for right now! And SQQ almost seems to project that “this is how I felt about your writing” with the moment of QQQ nearly castrating poor Airplane as SQH. That SONG – and I thought the “stories” written about HC and XL were scandalous! *blushes* Ahh, that is a great point about SQQ’s thoughts on “everyday mortals” - I’m definitely going to bring that up in a future discussion! And a great callback to the Immortal Alliance Conference moment! YES! SQQ would SO approve of “Everybody” being his theme song…or maybe he’d be embarrassed by it, but either way, I think he’d get the reference! Hmmm…I’d have to think on who was Agamemnon or Menelaus in this story - the analogy maybe doesn’t “perfectly” fit all together, but SQQ as Helen of Troy seems to work! 😛For now, at least, in his mind! But of COURSE, LBH is our (at least at one time) golden boy protagonist, so he has to have the cool one-liner to end out the volume! I am SO hyped for Volume 3…y’all have no idea! Shang Qinghua in the cave when the first meet Zhuzhi-lang in his snakeman form makes me think of that scene with Gandalf in the Fellowship of the Ring; "I have no memory of this place" 😂 But considering Zhuzhi-lang never actually appeared in the original novel, to me it reads as Mo Xiang Tong Xiu having a little fun with the concept of 'death of the author', as Shen Qingqiu's actions have led to this character now getting some "screentime" as it were. Laughing at your reaction to the shipping song for our couple 😁 Definite songfic right there, right? But yes the metaphors definitely help give us a giggle and is that much-needed breather after the tension built in the previous few chapters. I do love that Shen Qingqiu's smarts has him rely on the brothel girls, but Zhuzhi-lang somewhat waived them off as being unimportant because they weren't Cultivators. It shows Shen Qingqiu doesn't have the same outlook as many other Cultivators or demons on everyday mortals. Also the fact that it was brothel girls he sought help from, who typically are considered to be on the lower rungs of the totem poll when it comes to hierarchy. It reminds me of when the other sects wanted to open the barrier of the hunting grounds to save their disciples, but Shen Qingqiu reminded them that that would pose a risk to the mortals in the nearby area. Shen Qingqiu is so brutal towards his Airplane-bro! But it does make for a humorous scene with him silently cheering on Qi Qingqi to hurt Shang Qinghua. Though the bit about her swinging her sword at his crotch does make me think of Shen Qingqiu's previous plight about how he, and many other readers, in the comments section for the original novel cried out for Shen Qingqiu to be castrated for his actions. And now everyone is aware Shen Qingqiu is alive! [Alexa, play *Everybody (Backstreets Back)*] I love him lumping the blame on Shang Qinghua though 🤣 Also likening himself to Helen of Troy never fails to make me laugh. I assume that would make Luo Binghe young Prince Paris. But who would be Agamemnon? And would Yue Qingyuan or Liu Qingge be the jilted Menelaus? 🤣 Luo Binghe with that mic drop ending to the volume 😆 Your image of Mobei-Jun picking up Shang Qinghua like he's a chihuahua made me laugh but is also what I thought of their dynamic too 😂 Honestly Zhuzhi-lang's origins (with his mother being Tianlang-Jun's sister, and his father a snake) it makes several Ancient Greek mythological stories about their gods come to mind [mostly stories about Zeus and his crazy libido] 🤣 Some interesting theories as usual 💕 Crazy though to think that Volume 2 is done. "Twink" feels like an apt description for how Shang Qinghua looks in that image at the back of Volume 2 😂

Couldn't help but think that LBH's last line in this volume ('Just try to stop me!') is something a villain in a cartoon would say (like 'Just you wait!'), I read it in a very childish tone personally. Wouldn't have been surprised if he stuck his tongue out :') LQQ would have been extremely offended I feel. In any case, super excited for you to dive into book 3! Also, I once stumbled upon fanarts of Zhuzhi-Lang in both his forms and they're super well done so I looked for them again and thought I could share them with you now that you've encountered the character! Snakes that hunt by vision and thermal imaging can ignore realgar and realgar wine, but for those who gather information by smell, with this irritating smell, they will consider it dangerous, so they will exhibit evasive behavior.
