Agreed! Inaction is the WORST choice, because at the very least - send her to someone that can help her if you know you can't do so yourself! *nods furiously*

I agree; it was good to get back into the “sports anime” portion of this series! I do feel so bad for Hina, though, especially when I thought the teacher would help her and that is NOT what ends up happening. But yeah, I just hate how the teacher did the exact OPPOSITE of what was right in that scenario! I feel bad for Akari as well, because of how Japanese society views the family structure and how her “position” as the sister being the mother could make the situation “worse” with the bully’s family. I agree, though, I love that Rei was there to be a support for her, especially as an “outsider” that can offer support in ways that family sometimes cannot. But YES, he’s also basically a part of the family at this point!! Nikaido’s room is so posh and bougie! “Casually loaded,” hahahaha! YES! That’s the perfect way to describe it! And YES, Rei doesn’t know the extent of Nikaido’s health issues or how he’s aware, but still wants to make sure he lets Nikaido know that he cares and is concerned for him…it definitely feels like on the edge of a glass surface before Rei figures out more on Nikaido’s personal life. But yes, this match was really funny! I know a lot of people with anxious “ticks,” my mother included, so I could VERY much relate to Rei’s frustration; it’s just funny how Smith and the old man had tuned him completely out. And yessss, them calling Rei out for being a teenager and thinking so much of himself - it’s such a common thing but Rei getting that reality check was what he needed for sure! I love all these moments of Rei growing up and how he’s strengthening his relationships with those around him. Thank you so much for the comment and kind words! NOT ready for this coming week!

See that is the thing i have with teachers who do not act. You knew you would have to deal with bullying eventually when you decided to become a teacher and i cannot let inaction go. I could understand her reacting badly or in a way that was not helpfull because bullying is hard and complex to deal with but inaction is the worst choice she could make and she should know better?

As much as the Hina storyline has me really intrigued, it was really nice to come back to our roots a bit and have some actual sports playing in this sports anime XD Poor Hina. I had a little kernel of hope that the teacher would actually do something (though not a ton, since the teacher's first reaction was to call out Hina for what was written on the board) and that was so thoroughly dashed. Blaming Hina for being bullied *because she just can't get along with everyone else* is such a nasty thing to do; and I guess it enrages me so much because I've seen people take this position before and it's just so unfair. I know Akari is nervous about being called about all this, but I honestly think that they should involve someone else because this teacher honestly has no clue how to handle it and that has become apparent; and I could feel sorry for the teacher being in way over her head, because that's not something she asked for, but I also refuse to because this is affecting children and so she should buckle up and do something and not just fret and ditter like she is. There were two very marked moments when I related completely to two different characters in this episode, and Akari worrying if she will be able to properly defend her sister was one of them. I *get* how anxiety inducing it is to know there's a confrontation coming; so, seeing her spiraling was incredibly relatable to me. I'm glad she had Rei there to help her come back to earth and support her. At this point, Rei really is a part of the family and I want someone to acknowledge it so badly XD Nikaido's room, though, that was... so insane XD I love how casually loaded he is. He even had the little dog sitting on his lap. Perfection. Rei telling Nikaido to take care of his health and go to bed early while we, the audience, can see the bag of pills sitting in Nikaido's table just to the side of his Shogi board was a very visually striking moment to me. Rei, still, has no clue of just how much Nikaido is aware of his health and the lengths he goes to take care of himself, but it's still very sweet that he worries. Makes me wonder, though, how Rei would react to learning about Nikaido's health. That whole match was hilarious, I have to be honest. See, the other time I felt very identified with a character in this episode was with Rei's opponent, I already forgot his name, sorry; because, well, I do the same *winces* I'm the kind of person that will be clicking something or tapping her foot or something to divert energy and I couldn't help but laugh at that. Rei thinking the world revolves around him is so funny to me because that's such a teenager thing to do. Thinking you're the only one going through something, that you are the first to discover something. It's such a narrow field of view by virtue of not having anything else to compare it to. So, Smith telling Rei to live some more was perfect because, yes, he needs to experience more so he can leave behind that narrow worldview as he matures. I don't know, I just like the moments when we can see so starkly just how young Rei is; especially, after an episode where he is trying to support Akari so much and be reliable, both things coexisting is really nice. Any and all Hina/Rei moments are very welcome for me, and them just being domestic in this one was so very wholesome. I love it.
