Bloom Into You: Episode 6 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

*NON-REPRESSED HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

This series has been a fantastic experience so far, but Y'ALL -- this episode has me snared in its clutches!

The complexity of the relationship between Yuu and Nanami is so fascinating and while this episode feels slightly hopeful -- I can't help but seeing the distinct ominous feeling of foreshadowing just across the train tracks...

Right - yes, that's definitely what (if I didn't touch on it in this episode) will be discussing in future episodes (since I've recorded a bit ahead) so you'll get to see me talk about it then! :) The writing of them as a couple is so good - I love how complex it is! It's going to be a lot of fun to discuss and analyze, as you'll see me go wild with for the next several episodes. ^^ Thanks for the comment!

I think Nanami wants to become her sister and forgo who she really is. She doesn't think her old self is worth anything, and wants to be the great person her sister was instead. That's why she doesn't want Yuu to fall in love with her. Because she would be either falling in love with someone who isn't her or falling in love with someone she is trying to get rid off. I really love the writing and the direction of this episode. The moment when Nanami refutes Yuu's seemingly perfect sentiment of acceptance is one of the greatest single moments in anime, from a direction/production aspect. That whole scene is perfection. Then when before the ED Nanami tells Yuu that she loves her it seems kinda cute and heartwarming, but after the credits we hear her internal monologue and she says that the word love is a shackle, and by telling Yuu that she loves her she is in fact trying to shackle her in the moment to make her no fall in love with her. Brilliant writing.
