BLOOM INTO YOU: Episode 7 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

 *CAFFEINATED HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

I was waiting for us to get an episode centered around Sayaka and boy, did we get some discussion around her character! I love the introduction of new characters, their interactions, and how her storyline is connecting back to Yuu and Nanami! Let's talk about this episode!

BLOOM INTO YOU: Episode 7 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Oh awesome! Thank you so much for the explanation of the "welcome home" line! That is really neat and since - I'm assuming - their apartment might be connected to the business, that could explain that phrasing and why Sayaka was surprised by it! Aw, I didn't realize the wiping of the tears part, either! I appreciate that! This was so cool to learn, so thank you for taking the time to explain that for me! I really appreciate it and the comment! :)

Fun times with Japanese! The scene where Hakozaki-sensei came to Cafe Echo. What immediately threw Sayaka off is that in such cases, an employee would welcome a customer with "irasshaimase" (Please come in). It's one of those things that's so ubiquitous that it's background noise. What Miyako (the cafe owner) said was "okaeri" or "Welcome home". It CAN and IS used informally, sometimes even casually, but there's always the implication that the place the recipient is somewhere they belong. We're given pretext to this being an important point back when Touko is surprised when Yuu gets an "okaeri" from her grandmother at the book store. This is really cute, but the way Miyako just gently prods Sayaka to say out loude the things the older woman knows the teenager needs to get off her chest absolutely kills me. Because as you watch her listen to Sayaka, she's wiping the counter free of Sayaka's tears. It's too much! But to continue on the Japanese... After everything is said and done and Sayaka starts her second cup of coffee, she gives the "itadakimasu". Which feels a little late, right? Taking into context it's most comonly translated as "I humbly recieve", it's a pretty big sign that Sayaka isn't talking about the coffee.

I LOVE that Sayaka finally found someone to listen to her and that not only respects but helps her understand that her sexuality is valid and not unique - she's not alone. It's great she gets to talk to an adult who is comfortable with that part of themselves and can be a support to her - I love it and how it's depicted in this episode! Thank you for the comment!

Ahhh, there's definitely BL where boys have "experiences" with each other and then one says that it was just a phase and do what happens with Sayaka in the opening flashback - I've also had a male friend that had the exact same happen to him that happened to Sayaka, so I felt for her this episode! And yessss, I really empathized a lot with her - she was in love with a fake persona and doesn't want to confront the real Nanami because it could lead to her being left by her too. This show really does a great job exploring the complicated relationships between them all! Thank you for the comment!

Baby gay Sayaka actually got to hear an adult woman openly admit their relationship made me want to tear up. Especially when you was told that your identity is a phase. It give people hope for a happy future that can exist for them πŸ₯Ί

I'm the opposite, I've read a lot of yuri and no BL and I always thought that girls dating other girls during middle school and then stop once they start high school was a yuri exclusive trope. It seems to make more sense that way to me, but if I think about it it makes sense both ways I guess! lol. This episode really changes the perspective we have of Sayaka and makes you feel bad for her too. But she is in love with the fake persona and not the real Nanami.
