Junji Ito's UZUMAKI: Episode 3 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

*BLOODTHIRSTY HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

Reaction to Episode 2 post-credit starts at 20:05, if you want to skip me venting and reviewing comments. ^^

Ho boy, this episode combines a LOT of my fears in the horror genre: Jump scares, worms, attacks to the body, parasitic fungi -- lots of creepy crawly content that spooked the daylights out of me but continues our spiral of madness down the rabbit hole that is Uzumaki! And only one episode left?!

Junji Ito's UZUMAKI: Episode 3 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Oohhhh crunchtime! I feel you - our registration at my school starts this week, so it is a busy time of year! No worries; it’s a busy time of year! That’s so fascinating about being in dental healthcare! Funny story - the ONLY time a needle hasn’t bothered me is with dental work - I’ve had fillings and they’ve never bothered me (maybe because I can’t see it?) but that’s crazy! But also, yes, planes are freaky and Mosquitos - ew - that is really bad that you’ve had that problem with West Nile - agreed, though, bats are ADORABLE and I welcome them! Haha! Yeah, I grew up with cartoons passed down from the 80’s so I get it - I just had to say that so I’m glad y’all were okay with me ranting! Haha!! One day, I definitely want to watch Berserk 16/17 on my own time and see for myself! ;) But yes, the animation industry standards need to be addressed; I agree that B movies fascinate me! I love watching Red Letter Media and how they break down B movies and how they were made! Hahaha “they tried” - at least we have that! Effort! 😛 Oh wow, I didn’t know that about Nakayama so that is interesting! I may have to one day check that out if I’m brave enough!! Haha! Thanks for the book update as well! I DID get the Uzumaki manga (there’s a deluxe edition online digitally I looked at) and it was worth it; I’ll talk about it along with Episode 4! Thank you so muccccchhh for the comment and kind words! Ahahaha well, yes, Volume 41 was…a rough time! But things did get better after that! So there’s that to look forward to! 😀

Thank you so much for the comment and kind words - you were totally okay about the post-credits moment - it made it fun this episode! 😛 And yessss, “who is infected” is interesting! You almost wonder if Shuichi is patient zero, maybe? He was the first to note that things were “crazy” in the town - Ito definitely makes one’s “head spins” and I am kind of all about it! I agree, though - VERY difficult to watch at times - it was hard to not cover my face throughout this episode, hahaa! But yessss, I ended up doing Episode 4 and the manga review together (had the afternoon off to do it haha) so I hope you all enjoy!! 😀

Loved the reaction and discussion! Sorry not sorry about noting the post-credits scene. 😂 I wonder how much of this will come together next episode. There’s an interesting progression to who is impacted when by the spiral influences/whatever “idea” or “impact” is spreading: “patient zero” first, then his family and those closest to him, then adults more widely (maybe representing workplaces and the labour market), then school children (kids of the impacted parents + the education system), then pregnant patients and babies (as particularly vulnerable within the healthcare system). I can see the effects of the spirals representing how the impacts of austerity policies spread. Another reason I love Ito works – they are fun to try to figure out but also to impose own perceptions onto. 🥰 This was definitely a tough episode in terms of the particular types of body- and pregnancy-related horror. Very much a through-the-fingers watch. 😂 Looking forward to next week! And can’t wait for manga review, as well! 💙

I have had classes all weekend! It’s the October CE crunch for me! Oh well. Just now getting to watch this and then Berserk later on. So I’m in dental healthcare so needles and teeth are my bread and butter! 😅 it’s really hard to gross me out. I will watch dental procedures on video ( sometimes it’s required) so placental mushroom babies, doesn’t bother me. What scares me is getting on a plane. And mosquitos! Ugh, we have West Nile endemic in my part of the country and I’ve seen the damage it does. Because of that, I love bats! Let those bats eat all the mosquitoes they can! I absolutely agree with you getting upset with the comments on “drop in quantity.” Like I’ve said, I started watching anime in the 70’s! Over the years I’ve heard this criticism before, then I watch and I’m like, that wasn’t that bad. What are they talking about! UNLESS ITS BERSERK 16/17! 🤬 The anime industry and animation in general have been abused by being overworked, underpaid and always behind deadlines. They first hinted that this was going to be an anime years ago! I was giving up hope it would ever get made and aired. I actually have a fascination with terrible anime and especially terrible dubbed anime. There is some gold out there! Will your eyes and ears bleed consuming these pieces of media? Yes, but it’s worth it. Including Berserk 16/17😔 😉 They tried. Masaaki Nakayama is a mangaka who is often reported to have stopped a series called PTSD Radio because it haunted him! Well, I’m not sure what the real story is, he died, he got sick, he quit, it was bad luck, don’t know. What ever the reason, we only got 6 books. I love the series and I hope he is well and alive. Personally, the art in that series is top notch! 🤩 So what has moomin been reading? Just finished Light Bringer from the Red Rising series by Pierce Brown. I finished the book A Return to Common Senses by Leigh McGowan today. Loved both books and will start something else next week. maybe I’ll reread Uzemaki! It’s been yrs! Loved the rant, loved the reaction and I know you will have words about Berserk Volume 41! Can’t wait to hear the rant! I can’t wait to hopefully contribute to the conversation! Anyway, looking forward to it!

There was a LOT of scary, peek through fingers-worthy moments in this episode! I’m glad you enjoyed me being terrified, hahaha! And yes, the vignette feel of it felt very “manga,” in a good way! And the hospital scenes?! I know that Kirie didn’t want to leave her cousin, but I was begging for her to run away, haha! I agree! Yeah, the babies aspect was 100% horrific, but I like your take on th moms feeling alien and that spiral of madness, there! That’s really well explained! And I agree, since episode 1, Shuichi has been “spiraling” because of the spiral so things for him do not look good in my book! The part with the mom? As much as I was questioning that as well, I guess since it’s a hospital they need scissors around in case of an emergency but SERIOUSLY. I could not WATCH! Yeah, the cremation and the hurricane were two confusing elements, but I’m hoping the manga explains that for us, too! Thank you for the comment and glad you enjoyed the episode! Now, just one to gooooooooo…… @_@

You know what? I was totally like you through this whole episode XD Just peeking through my fingers the whole time because it was a little too gross at times for me, or just too creepy. It was a lot of fun though! (because of all the screaming) This episode felt like we were getting little vignettes into the descent into madness of the whole town; just so we could appreciate the scope of it all. Things are now happening all over the place, affecting all kinds of people and beings, and just generally becoming overwhelming. Watching the whole hospital little arc was bone-chilling and had me gagging. *So creepy,* which is the exact feeling I'm looking from this show. And honestly? Spiraling out of control, or feeling like you have none, feels like a very accurate representation of giving birth and just how your body gets so out of whack, overflowed with hormones that can make you feel pretty terrible, and foreign to yourself that I can see where the idea of the new moms becoming puppets of the spiral is not farfetched to me. Now, the babies, on the other hand, were the most disturbing thing and I hope to never see it again, please and thank you. If I had been in Kirie's position, I would have hightailed it out of that hospital the next morning, I don't care what the doctors think or say. Suichi really looks rough, and that's not inspiring in the least. It's almost as if his rejection of the spiral IS him spiraling as well. I do hope he makes it through the end, but we'll see, I guess, you're right that he is giving some serious red flags in that department. The whole hurricane thing was... just so weird? Like, *why?* Lol. I did not understand what was happening until you mentioned it here, for one; and for another, well, I guess it shows how the spiral seems to be obsessed with Kirie, but it just feels really weird; I guess it was a good way to make Kirie's family move to the impoverish area. Oh, I did not forget about Suichi's mom, not for one second, but I do wish I could forget it because that had my heart jumping out of my chest multiple times. WHY WOULD THEY LEAVE ANYTHING SHARP IN THE ROOM OF THIS WOMAN WHO HAS ALREADY PROVED TO BE A DANGER TO HERSELF?! Sure, the glass shards were no one's fault, not really, but even if it's for her own good, needles seem like a bad idea. I'm just saying. Also, literally didn't get she was supposed to be dead until right now because they cremated her when they said they weren't doing that anymore; so I was just really confused.
