She is telling her that she made Sayaka gay and that she should go back to normal because she herself isn't and is trying to convince herself that she is straight. I loved how in this episode Nanami asks Sayaka which hydrangea she likes, then Sayaka asks Yuu and finally Yuu asks Nanami. But we never hear any of the answers. To me they are indirectly asking who they love, but the only one who we know does not actually answer is Nanami when Yuu asks, but she doesn't care because she knows already.

2024-10-18 20:50:34 +0000 UTCWOO! I've been waiting for this one and it did not disappoint! Your reaction to Sayaka shutting down her ex-girlfriend was chef's kiss. I'm here with dessert! Japanese time. Both the language and the culture is very indirect. Instead of giving what we would call a direct answer—Japanese leans a little more non-confrontational. You'll see it when a character says they have something else to do instead of saying "No" or when a character gets hugged, they give a playful "It's too hot today!" instead of telling them to let go. Likewise, goodbyes are rarely ever truly "goodbye". You have "jaa ne" "Later", or "Mata ne" "[We'll do this] Again". "Bye bye". Even "Kiotsukete" for when you expect to see someone after a few days or weeks. Sayounara has a sense of finality to it. It's directly addressing that a parting is happening with the acknowledgement that barring circumstances, you might never see that person again. "Sore jaa... Sayounara." is what Sayaka said. "Sore jaa" is a transitional phrase like "Well, then..." indicating that a person is either changing the subject or wrapping the conversation. Sayaka was cold af right there.
