BERSERK: Manga Volume 41 Reaction!

**MOONLIT MADNESS HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

Excuse me -- *SCREAMS* -- but this volume was...what else can I say?!

The twist makes sense, the twist makes me want to puke, and I was hit HARD by not only the fact that this was Miura's last volume he personally did, but how much is left unsaid, how much is left of the story unfinished, and how much of it makes me want to flip ALL the tables.

Thank goodness we have a volume to go to start Mori's journey with the series...I think. *dark and nervous laughter*

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

Oh wow, thank you SO MUCH for sending me a link to that post! That will be SO HELPFUL to me in my video essay (when I get to it) so I really appreciate it! But yes, I totally get that about parts being “lost in translation” for sure! I appreciate Mori’s transparency that “Yeah, this is going to be me remembering what was told to me by Miura” and that it was going to be what you were going to get - but at least it’s SOMETHING and possible for the story to have a conclusion - I have infinite respect for Mori to choose to finish Miura’s story for him, knowing all that was at risk! Thank you for this information!

I think I read this post and this is why I thought about Mori knowing about the basic story arc all those years ago. https://www.skullknight.net/forum/index.php?threads/young-animal-announces-a-continuation-of-berserk-by-studio-gaga-supervised-by-kouji-mori.16210/ One thing that is hard when you are an English speaker and having to rely on translations of sparse interviews is that you are not sure the information is correct. As per the poster on your wall, sometimes things can be “Lost in Translation.” I would take my off the cuff hearsay comment with a grain of salt. After Miura’s death, we were grabbing at straws and roomers flew around the internet with abandon! To this day, I’m not sure where I picked up any of the post Miura news. It might have been my wishful thoughts and a bit of sadness with not knowing how the story will end. I like you are a completionist ! They did know each other since childhood and I’m sure they talked about what they were working on during that time. How much Mori knows is a mystery.

It’s kind of insane that you all have had YEARS to theorize about all this and I’m just waltzing into the fray! Basically, I agree that the fetus has fused with the body Griffith was taking, which I may talk more about with the guidebook/volume 42 reaction ( I can’t remember if I said it here or there) – and that yeah, the baby is his “flaw” to keep him from becoming a literal god that’s unstoppable. And I agree with the “roommate” analogy – and the “egg” granting the wish to the child to be able to be with his parents; I can see that, too. I think my frustration and sadness was that the baby, by being held hostage, made me realize that unless they are “separated,” which I don’t think is possible or likely, that Griffith cannot be killed. I’ve had this pit in my stomach feeling and fear that Miura doesn’t view Casca’s assault as worth making Griffith suffer in the end, or worse, makes it where the baby “redeems” him…but I’ll talk more about that in Volume 42. But this volume really made me literally sick at the idea that if Guts wants to get revenge he’d have to hurt his child, and I honestly can’t see him in the overall story actually doing that in the end, even if tempted to. HE FOUND OUT FROM MORI 20 YEARS PRIOR DURING THE ECLIPSE?! WHAT. Do you have a source on this? I’d love to see it because no one mentioned THAT detail! Honestly, for me, there is no way I could accept this last chapter as “the ending” – too many loose threads and while it is an “eerie” chapter to sadly be Miura’s last, I can’t view it as an “ambiguous” end. I’m definitely curious how Mori will take what Miura gave him to finish the story, though! Thank you for the info on the godhand! Interestinggggg that Void was possibly the old Griffith…I want to know more about his and SK’s relationship! I need answers, darn it! But their designs were so neat! RIP Miura…we’ll see where the story goes to from here! Thank you for the comment and the kind words!

OH MY GOD NO WAY. SERIZAWA DOES IT?! He's one of my favorites so....I....may need to go watch this ASAP.

So we have had years to sit with the idea of the moonlight boy. We have had this idea since the conviction arc and the Egg of the Perfect World. When the reveal happened, people were saying,” It was Griffith the whole time” No it wasn’t, it’s both of them. I had written this one thought on another video about MLB and the Egg. “My take on the Egg of the Perfect World transformation of the demon fetus is that instead of the fetus morphing into Griffith, the two are fused. Yes, the fetus was there, but I believe that Griffith would have materialized in the EotPW regardless. I would say that Casca and Guts’s child is more of a flaw to Griffith than something that was needed for him to exist in the real world. I view the moonlight boy as another leaping fish, just like his parents. Someone Griffith cannot necessarily control. Just my take on the little guy.” So do I still feel this way? Yes. It’s like the baby owns the dwelling and they are roommates, except one roommate is holding the other hostage. Every once in a while, the hostage roommate escapes when the moon is full. This is Berserk after all. I would add to the above about the wish granting in Berserk. The Egg did grant the baby’s wish so to speak. The egg granted the almost dead fetus its desire to be a normal child and be with its parents. That Egg made it happen. I’m ok with that. So now what? This child is definitely a flaw for Griffith. This baby, once a month, just traipses off to find his mom and dad. It gives me a small pleasure that Griffith wakes up somewhere, naked and vaguely hung over crying like the bitch he is. Well, we can’t have that now can we! I feel like Griffith used the kid to his advantage against the child’s will. That baby is still innocent regardless of him being held hostage by Griffith. Another black mark against Griffith! Does this mean that to take down Griffith, Guts has to kill the kid? By now you have read Volume 42. So, is that the way it is supposed to go? We may never know for sure. I don’t know how much information Mori has going forward. From what I know is that Mori was told how the story goes and ends and that is what he is going on. When did this happen? During the first eclipse! 😭 so it’s been like 20 years! Hell, I can’t remember what I did last week! I’m sure that others have touched on this and what we know. (I haven’t read what comments have covered) I will probably note this next episode. How do I feel about the ending? I’m fine with it. We waited about a year before we got this last chapter. You are kinda getting this all at once, we did have time to digest it. At the time, we didn’t know what would happen. Honestly, I was hoping that someday we would see the end. Now we will never know if this is truly the proper ending or what had to be made in order to make some kind of sense. So, as of today, Oct. 25, 2024, I have not read chapter 377. I will do this later today. It’s amazing that I have stayed away from spoilers this time! I do love a good spoiler! I am soooooooo curious as to how this story will end! Ok, let’s talk about the new Godhand! I believe that what we are seeing is the newly installed Godhand Void! This is his coronation day! Remember, this took place thousands of years ago (or a thousand years ago?) 🤔 So what happened to these Godhand members? Did SK take ‘em out? Who were they? I absolutely love the design of this bunch. The little guy with the wide open mouth is designed like a Green Man. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Man it also reminds me of this: https://youtu.be/xe95sn0cN3k?si=GPVBFAcvYeEVhVUG mummenschanz, I actually saw them live when I was a child. They were fantastic! Now, I’ve seen pictures of the next one, but of course, I can’t find them now. The Godhand with all the boobs, is an Italian water fountain I think? I swear I saw a photo of it! It wasn’t a fever dream I had! 😅 if I find it, I’ll post it here. Edit: ok, found it! I googled Italian booby fountains 😭 https://pin.it/2Y1JCSQyb and this one https://pin.it/4RRTpKBqL For now, Tally Ho to Volume 42! Holy cats! I can’t believe it either, we made it to the end! Kind of….. 👁️👁️👁️FEB Spoilers⬇️👁️👁️👁️ RIP Miura Volume 41: 0!

You also get to see Serizawa murder "Griffith" with a business card, so that's pretty cool.

Ahhhh, WOW! You know, NOW that you say it, that's so true!! I am glad you didn't say anything at the time but have brought it up, now! Now I want to go and rewatch that! That is so amazing and I love the reference - thank you for the comment and pointing that out! <3

If you re-watch Mob Psycho Season 3 episode 2, the Yokai king and his 4 generals are clear references to Berserk. I didn't want to say anything at the time due to spoilers. Mob looks at them and says "I don't think I could come up with designs that creative." when trying to decide what to do for the haunted house at the cultural festival. I assume that is a reference/memorial to Mirua who had recently passed away.
