The Apothecary Diaries: Episode 15 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

Catching up to your comments! 😀 And yesss, Gaoshun can be sly and figure out a way to handle MaoMao, which is awesome - he and Jinshi both handle the Watson and Lestrade roles in this! And Jinshi DEMANDING to be involved - he can’t be left out! :3 Suiren doesn’t hold any punches and I like that she makes sure he’s kept in line as well! She definitely feels like a fiery grandmother! But yes, that power she carries - it’s intimidating! I love how Jinshi and Gaoshun both care for MaoMao and Jinshin INSTANTLY not liking Lakan – feels like good instincts! But I would argue, yes, both like to be “stepped” on by the women they love, so it seems, so there’s that. Anytime you add “puppest” to a narrative style, it comes across creepier, and that’s definitely the case, here! But yes, it made me want to know moooooore! This series is good about teasing and giving you *just* enough! Ah, thank you for that information on Gyokuyou and hahaha MaoMao is cooler than Hannah Montana! ;) But thank you for the comment and kind words! We’ll see where these theories go!

Gaoshun, in a short period of time, truly has learned how to finagle Maomao's co-operation 😆 It was this moment with Maomao that I realised he can be pretty sly when a situation calls for it. Gaoshun in the "Watson" role though is definitely interesting, and gives us a little more of the dynamic between Gaoshun and Maomao without Jinshi's presence (but of course Jinshi, like a child, has to be involved/included too 🤣). I absolutely adore this episode that we get to see Suirin treat Jinshi the same way she's been with Maomao. Even though she works for Jinshi, she didn't let him run off after Maomao because his hair still needed drying, and didn't let him have his candied fruit (just a guess for what the red thing he was planning to eat was) so as not to spoil his appetite before meal time. Adds a much more grandmotherly air to her, but also retains the fear you get from Suirin just popping up in places with that smile on her face 😂 The "skit" of Jinshi freaking out and making Maomao vomit does make me laugh, especially the swiftness of both Jinshi's and Gaoshun's reactions (and how seamlessly they worked together). But I always laugh more at Jinshi being uncomfortable by having something in common with Lakan [both could be described as a little masochistic with them liking women who somewhat treat them as lesser than] 🤣 The puppet show-esque style of Lakan telling the tale of his metalworker friend definitely adds even more of a sinister air to his character. That alongside his overall demeanour definitely leaves you needing/wanting more. Some very intriguing/interesting theories 🧐😁 Consort Gyokuyou's family is based in the Western province. Maomao as Hannah Montana was not a comparison I ever thought of, but definitely one that made me giggle 😆

Ooohh, you had me at "jade!" And Oh! I HAVE had an oolong tea before and really enjoyed it, so I will have to look into those! And that is okay - I'd rather not ship food, personally, but yes, if you have links, please feel free to share! :D

Romaniablack

Yesssss! I am SO excited; I should be able to watch the seasons back to back which is so exciting! :D And I will be going straight from season 1 to 2, no wheel or poll needed! ;) Poor Jinshi; he's still young, naive, and hasn't paid attention like Gaoshun has to "get" MaoMao, but maybe one day he will! <3 Thank you for the comment and kind words!

Romaniablack

I would probably recommend a jade tie guan yin oolong or a Taiwanese 'bug bitten' oolong. I know most people don't like food sent to them for safety reasons, but i can send some samples or i could have the place i order mine send some samples. If you'd rather not, i can send you links to some trusted vendors.

Oohhh, I'm definitely more of a lemon/ginger/chamomile/honey tea type of person - I don't drink a LOT of varieties of tea, but I do enjoy them in the fall!

Romaniablack

ok. to narrow down what is literally thousands of specific teas. what would you enjoy/like to try?: fresh with vegetal tastes (corn/grass/flowers) that's delicate and needs a cooler steep? heavy on the aroma, but simple on the taste? plain tasting, but has stronger body effects (heightened focus/energy rush/woozy)? fermented, with a more composted, earthy/plowed fields kind of taste? dry/crunchy/fall leaves taste and mouthfeel? ... the first two (fresh vegetable or rich aroma) are more likely the ones served in the palace and court. most of the other types are more around south and west china.

Zeekutar The Immortal

Ooohhh, I have not tried this! I'm up for any recommendations! Thank you for that and the comment!

Romaniablack

Thank you for the comments! His misery is so funny in this; bless him!

Romaniablack

Not sure if you heard, as it has been discussed earlier in the series' reaction videos, but Season 2 will begin about a week after you wrap up Season 1 (January)! Pretty exciting and I hope we get to continue the series with you, though even if it comes to a vote I'm pretty sure it'll win haha. The wheel of causality though, that's a bit more up in the air! Enjoyed the reaction like always, and agree all the characters really feel well written with their own personalities and motivations and intelligence, like how you say Jinshi just doesn't get Maomao the same way Gaoshun does!

L Freya

I adore how childish Jinshi is in this episode. The faces MaoMao makes in this episode are hilarious.

LoreleiS

I am going to keep my hands under my chair…. You are so on the right path on so many things.

LoreleiS

hello fellow tea drinker! Have you tried any traditional Chinese loose leaf tea? I can recommend some if you are interested. I giggle every time I see the characters in apothecary drink from a 'gaiwan'. It's a traditional steeping/serving vessel in China.
