Blue Lock Season 2: Episode 5 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

*FERAL HEADPHONE WARNINGS - I AM LOUD! YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!*

I don't think you all are ready for me this episode! We're ALREADY to the selection of the Top 11? We're ALREADY getting the reveal of Sae's Choice? We're ALREADY getting to shipping and "no heterosexual explanation" moments that are making me into a feral ball of fangirl?

I'm really loud and obnoxious in this episode, but you all have been warned!
Give me a muzzle and straight jacket, already.

Blue Lock Season 2: Episode 5 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

Ah, thank you so much for the kind words and comment! It’s my favorite episode so far, too! What an AU it would have been with Ego, eh!? This is DEFINITELY more shippy though and I like it better overall! I can’t believe that we get SatoSugu’s VA’s doing them! A match made in hell! And yesssss, the priest and the devil motif! YES! I love that! And the One-on-One Emperor, yes! I forgot that, since it’s not an animal motif! I loooove Aiku’s entrance and the HAIR! Bachira’s Uncle! AHAHAH I can see that! And YES, OMG, he DOES have the Chris vibes to him! I 100% agree - and also looks 27, but we know he’s 19. I love that he has that VA - and being Moran? Makes perfect since! There’s a bit of a typecast VA there and I love it! Ego’s Flow Speech was really good! I love how Isagi is tapping into what it represents - and YES, the spiritual successor to KNB! I’m so proud for it! And yes, it does feel more like a realistic concept than Aomine’s fantastical story about the City of Atlantis at the bottom of your subconscious! ;) Thank you so much for the comment and kind words! Excited for Episode 6!

Thank you so much for the comment and kind words! I’m soooo on board with this ship, whole-heartedly! And yesss, we get GOJO/GETOU VA’s voicing them!! YES! I can imagine you all have waited a long time to get here and the wait has been worth it to me! Their VA’s do such a good job with them so far! The scene with Sae walking in – ugh – he knows what he’s getting into! And he’s into it! And Sae x Shidou with Rin being the opposite of Shidou - you have to love it! Yeah, Ego NOT BEATING THE ALLEGATIONS! Hahaha - there’s definitely an anime element that is not realistic at all in this, but his is basically a yaoi shonen disguising as a sports anime, so…it’s fine! 😛 Ryusei is VERY much a wild card - and he just DOES NOT gel with Rin, which is hilarious, because you’d think he would be celebrating his talent - I just love it! IT works for the brother-in-law vibes and for them in a ship if you wanted! Ooohhh, Oliver has Rengoku’s VA - I love that and would not be able to tell right off, but it makes sense now! Thank you for that information! And the GLAM SQUAD - I love how adorable Niko was as well! So cute! And yes, Gin doing you proud! :D 😀 Thank you for the comment and kind words! I’m excited for Episode 6!

Hahaha, my throat was a little scratchy the day after but it’s fine now! 😀But yes, worthy reaction right?! I was convinced we would see more games, but noooo - straight to the selection! Ego is very lucky that no parents are allowed to come into Blue Lock…or any child services hahaha, even though Ryusei is practically an adult, almost…I think? I thought he was 17 but I could be wrong. The Anti-Riot gear at least explains why there’s no security guards in Blue Lock - I hadn’t thought about that but that’s a great explanation! The ONE button, though? That’s a good question…maybe it WAS just Ryusei’s? Or it was a comic ACME button…it’s BLLK, so there is no telling! I was really sad Reo didn’t make it to the top 11 either! I’m confident he’ll make the reserves, though, so we shall see! Yesssss, Sae x Ryusei all the way! And our Primary Trio! I love seeing them together again - it was a full circle moment! Oohhhh, that’s so cool about Ego’s flow speech helping you with piano! Ahhh, that’s so wonderful and I love that! As long as we get some more Reo and Nagmi moments this season, I agree; I’ll be here for it! Thank you for the comment and kind words!

Loved the reaction and discussion, it was so much fun! Definitely my fav episode of the season yet. When I watched the previous episode, I was looking forward to the anime onlies’ guesses about whom Sae was going to choose. I was not prepared for your prediction. It was hilarious and amazing to hear your theory about Sae choosing Ego. That would’ve been an even bigger plot twist than what we got haha. Never gonna get over Satosugu and Ryusae sharing voice actors, it’s so perfect. I love that you called them a match made in hell and how it’s a deal with the devil. I saw someone say in that scene, Sae’s outfit resembles a priest. I like that added layer of Sae and Shidou being the priest and devil. Btw, Yukimiya did get a nickname: the One-on-One Emperor! Aiku’s introduction was so sick! My very first impression of Aiku’s design was that I called him Bachira’s uncle lmao because of his hair. About Aiku appearing older than he is, that reminds me of my initial impression of Chris before I started Daiya, totally thought he was the team coach and in his 30s lol. Oliver Aiku is voiced by Satoshi Hino - Rengoku (Demon Slayer), Noritoshi Kamo (JJK), Sebastian Moran (Moriarty), Nao Serizawa (Free!), and Daichi Sawamura (Haikyuu). Love that Aiku and Daichi are similar in that they’re both defensive captains. Great casting as usual! Ego’s flow speech was such a nice wrap up for the episode! Loved the tranquil OST during that scene, it sounded like water dripping, which is fitting. Flow state is the scientific term for “the zone.” Blue Lock once again showing itself to be the spiritual successor of KNB! And I like that BLLK has a more realistic approach to the flow state concept in psychology.

AHAHAHAHAHA!!

I cannot believe they have the same VA's I am FANGIRLING SO HARD RIGHT NOW! I do like Rin x Shidou - they give off Brother-in-law/perpetual-rivals-forever vibes, but I can also see the ship, plus a love triangle between a guy and two brothers? Why not!? And. yeah, Kenyu is really cool in that he stands up to Ego and voices his opinion - he's *drank* the blue kool-aid, but is also reading the ingredients label! ;) Thank you for the comment and kind words!

Romaniablack

I agree! I'm glad we FINALLY saw more of the U-20 so that's good! Thank you so much for the comment and kind words! I can't wait for episode 6!

Romaniablack

Thank you for the comment! So excited by this episode!

Great reaction and discussion!! Can't believe we are already here!! My absolutely favorite blue lock ship has entered the stage!! I am such a fan of Shidou x Sae ship and with Shidou being my fave bl character i am really eating well this season!! You won't believe how high i squealed when the anime revealed that Shidou was voiced by Gojo VA bc we already knew that Sae had Geto VA. I WAS SO EXCITED WHEN EPISODE 24 OF SEASON 1 DROPPED AND I RECOGNIZED THE VOICE!! I couldn't believe it. And Nakamura is SO good at sounding unhinged and totally out of his mind which fits Shidou so perfectly!! The scene with Sae just walking in to the room Shidou was restrained in was just perfect!! I also loved how excited Shidou got afer Sae's speech, he immediately was like, I like what this dude is putting down 👀 with a wide grin. No hesitation at all. Seems like nobody taught him about stranger danger XD Also. When i first read the part where Ryusei gets electrocuted in manga i was so. WTF JUST HAPPENED?? Like, i know this is anime and realizm goes out of the window but like. If you tase someone on the spine (as it seems to be the case here with Shidou) AND its hard enough to make them unconscious it could lead to some very serious long lasting consequences like nerve damage. EGO IS REALLY NOT BEATING THOSE BLUE LOCK IS A PRISON IN DISGUISE ALLEGATIONS XD Nothing like installing a LITERAL ANTI RIOT FUNCTION on uniforms of teenagers XD None of the human rights broken there at all XD And also, another point to Rin and Shidou being literal opposites of each other, with the way they fight! With Rin attacking with his fists and Shidou only striking with his legs. (Also, translation thing! I can't really say why it bothers me so much but I find the correct translation more fitting in this instance so i thought I would mention it. When Shidou was getting ready to dropkick Rin in the head, what he said was "Get your head ready, Rin-Rin!", not whatever they translated it as!) I really love how much of a wild card Shidou is. He is like an impulse on legs. No thoughts in his head, only instincts. He has so many mood swings and extreme emotions, its always so fun to watch him on screen. And he gets genuinely excited when people are as good or better than him in football! I always loved how he isn't a sore loser and has respect for people who defeated him (like Isagi did in ep 3). Its so funny that his beef with Rin seems to be exception to that XD He is just straight up ready to throw hands with Rin at any time, an instant hatred from first sight on both Rin and Shidou sides. Also btw. Did you know that Seiji Hoichi (the manager guy who introduced Sae to the U-20 team) is voiced by Toshihiko Seki, the same guy who gives the voice to Muzan from Demon Slayer an Iruka from Naruto. This is made funnier by the fact that Oliver Aiku is voiced by Satoshi Hino, who also played Rengoku. The guy has some range XD That additional time has to be my favorite this season XD I loved how adorable Niko was!! And I laughed so much at all the ✨Glam✨ those three showed XD and my namesake, Gin is as always so adorable! A true mountains boy XD

Gin

You really made me see the vision of Ryusei's potential with the Itoshi brothers... and, who knows, maybe he's the reason Sae and Rin make up, because they both realize Ryusei has two hands O.O *lol*

Alexandra Q

Firstly, I need to know, is your throat okay? XD All the screaming was a fair reaction to it all. No, because I, too, thought we would get to see a couple of games more. Sure, maybe the other ones weren't as important, okay; still, giving one episode to see the highlight plays of our favorite characters would have been nice. Though, I suppose that with the state of the animation right now, we wouldn't have really seen anything in the interactive department My jaw was on the floor with the way Ego treated Ryusei this episode. I mean, yes, he deserved it all, he was being specially chaotic, but the straightjacket and muzzle felt like a little much *lol* And the shock anti-riot element was just insane. Look, Ego adding the electrical anti-riot switch to all the boys' uniforms makes too much sense, they are a bunch of rowdy teens that can get into all kinds of trouble and I guess Ego and Anri weren't going to be enough to keep them in line; heck, they might even have been cheaper in the long run than hiring security, as Ego surely would have had to do otherwise, and since they were made in bulk maybe they got a nice deal, who knows. All that being said, I like the idea that the only uniform who had it install was Ryusei's because we see ONE switch under Ego's desk... or did he just keep Ryusei's uniform on speed dial because he knew he, Ryusei, was too much of a wild card? Reo not making it into the Blue Lock 11 really hurt me. He's working so hard and it keeps *just not being good enough*. Thank gosh for that extra panel and the hope that he will make it as a reserve! While I did not quite ship Ryusei and Rin, though I could see the vision clearly, I have to admit that WE HAD THE WRONG ITOSHI. I have been converted to the Sae/Ryusei pairing. I'm all on board. I had a feeling that Ryusei would be the one that Sae wanted to play with. It just makes too much sense that if he couldn't gel with Rin he will gel perfectly with Sae. It's, all in all, a neat little way to keep showing in our faces just how different and at odds Rin and Sae are. Oil and water and all that. Seeing Chigiri, Bachira, and Isagi all talking together while taking a break from training made me rather emotional; it was nice seeing this trio together again and working towards the same goal. Now, I want to say something that I never thought I would say, and that is that BL is making me understand my own piano playing so much better *lol* Ego's explanation of flow and how to achieve it was like a little light bulb had light up right over my head. While most sports anime motivates me to reach for a goal and work hard towards it, as short-lived as that inspiration might be, BL really dives deep into what passion is all about and the nitty-gritty of exploiting your talent... it's really refreshing and eye-opening, to be honest. Please tell me that we'll get some Nagi/Reo next episode, and I'll be as set as the BL 11.

Alexandra Q

This episode was so intense but I really liked it, it was fun to see more of the U-20 players too :D

Iggy

Shidou/Sae with Gojo/Geto VA... the voice actors choice is so peak...they know what they are doing... Im still on team Rin x Shidou tho, my pair won't be silenced, like Shidou praises everyone but hates Rin, he also makes RinRin nickname for Rin, doesn't that make Rin special to Shidou amirite?? (Im onto anything fr). Just throw some more Yuki appreciation, he stood up for Shidou when he knew that Shidou didn't make the team. He is always so polite but not afraid to voice his opinion. I really love his personality
