RUN WITH THE WIND: Novel Reaction! PART THREE!

*PRACTICED HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

NOTE: The mic did not pick up this episode, so it's just my camera audio, so I apologize in advance for this week! At least you CAN hear me!

This story kicks into gear as we start the practice routines and regimens to build up to the Hakone Ekiden! Unlike the anime, there's more focus with Kakeru, more COOPERATION with Kakeru and Haiji, and more insight into our crew! I'm LOVING THIS!

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

RUN WITH THE WIND: Novel Reaction! PART THREE!

Comments

We really were with Kakeru and Nira in the anime! It is sad to see Kakeru talk about his loneliness in this series. But agreed on him not being alone! Yeah, Prince in the novel does seem a little different than the anime; same with Yuki! 🙂 The series getting into Kakeru’s perspective is maybe one of my favorite parts of this novel! And the shipper views with Nico’s descriptions! And yes, NicoYuki shipping! I also love the realism with the smoking as well – my dad chewed tobacco, but he finally was forced to quit for health reasons; he couldn’t quit cold turkey so he uses placebos with corn silks and that helps him to not chew real tobacco now. I do love Yuki holding Haiji accountable - as the law student! And HONEY BUNNY - WOULD HAVE DIED, AGREED! Shindo and Musa are so sweet! But yeah, there are parts of the anime that work a little more “fun” than the novel - I’m glad there are differences between them! And Kakeru and Musa being so close so soon is really interesting, I agree. The training in this novel is so well explained! And the realism of the training sessions! It does make me feel more for Kakeru learning this backstory on him and his home life. 🙁 And his worry of Haiji!! The red flags are definitely there, though, on Haiji’s darn leg already. 😢 And I can see some jealousy there with Kakeru and Haiji! 😛We shall seeee! I would like to think that, though! I think the changed order definitely make this like apples and oranges! I really am wondering about the twins and if we’ll find out as well! 😛Thank you for the comment!

We were so robbed of Kakeru playing with Nira in the anime 🥺 Kakeru finding himself alone again pains my heart a little. It doesn't seem any different to how it was for him back in high school. Looking forward to seeing him slowly realise that even if he isn't surrounded by the others, and much faster than him, he's not alone. In the anime I kin Prince a lot; in the novel with Yuki falling asleep standing up, and taking his chance to catch a little nap as they wait for the others, I feel like I may relate to him more 😂 I really do love getting a peek into Kakeru's mind. With how the anime is I definitely wouldn't have said that at this point in the story Kakeru was considering how there are other people in the world who don't or can't run. It's definitely an interesting aspect of his character, and I feel really helps flesh out his character more from being a moody student. Shindo and Musa really are the teacher's pets of the group 😆 For that I do think I prefer how the anime had Shindo being the first to buy the proper gear. But it also does really show how Shindo and Musa jumped into the whole idea of running the ekiden and were all-in from pretty much the get-go. I think that, at least in the anime, is why Shindo's part of the race is all the more emotional. Haiji wishing Nira could use the stopwatch to time them made me giggle and just imagine them trying to train Nira to participate in their club activities like that 😂 Nico-senpai's view of Kakeru and Haiji (the one born to run versus the one unable to run) definitely had my shipper's heart in a hold 🥺🥰 Its also really interesting getting Nico-senpai's "outsider's" perspective considering how he did run back in high school. Also do love that as abrasive as their relationship can be, Yuki does truly care for Nico-senpai and wants the best for him 🥺 But I will admit that my NicoYuki shipper heart did focus more on the "at Chikuseisou" rather than the beginning of the sentence ("last year they spend together") 😆 Also, with multiple smokers in my family, the depiction of Nico-senpai trying to break his smoking habit is very realistically portrayed. Though none of my family have managed to quit cold turkey and instead had to slowly wean themselves off of their choice of nicotine (i.e. cigarettes, cigars, pipes, etc.). I really love in both the novel and anime how there are abbreviations used for their training regime that not everyone understands. It completely makes sense given different sports require different kinds of training and so some parts the others would not have come across before, at least not how its typically written down in short form for training regimes. I also like them splitting up like they have. Not everyone would find it helpful or be able to train to their best ability if they're constantly required to train together as a group. It's really interesting that Musa and Kakeru have this moment in the tub so early on in the novel. If I remember correctly it isn't until closer to the New Year that they have a similar conversation, or at least it's implied that it is around that time of year. I love that it's our law student Yuki who reprimands Haiji about his habit of touching other people's body parts without first gaining permission 🤣 No, not the teasing of Kakeru by both Nico-senpai and Yuki!!! Oh I would have died if Yuki had called Kakeru "honey-bunny" in the anime 🤣 I don't think we got in the anime that Kakeru didn't live at home during his senior years of high school. Honestly that makes it all the more understanding for why he ended up snapping like he did. There was no escape for him 🥺 Kakeru being worried over the amount of distance Haiji is actually covering by going back and forth to check on their teammates...I really love how sweet he is. But from a novel's perspective it definitely feels like a warning flag that Haiji's overdoing things, and could hurt his leg more 🥺 I feel it might be my shipper goggles, but Kakeru's question (ahem, interrogation) of how Haiji knows Hana etc. definitely feels like he's got a little jealousy monster brewing 😆 There are definitely bits and pieces that the order has been changed up. Like Hana was brought in for their training sessions and that's how Kakeru met her, but then in the anime they weren't doing individual training until a bit later on after they'd already gone to a couple of track meets. Musa never told us in the show which twin it was (or if it was both) that Hana liked...will the novel be different?? 👀
