Romania & Bro - ARCANE Season 2: Episode 2 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

 *SMOLDERING HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

Y'all, this season already has my brother and I in LOVE - and I am IN LOVE with a certain scientist that just had a MAJOR GLOW UP for me as a possible Middle-Man Mage Messiah!

Meanwhile, we catch up with Jinx as the underworld is plunged into chaos without Silco to keep it all together and Jinx is confronted with the worst development: Mentoring a CHILD? Oh no...this does not bode well.

Romania & Bro - ARCANE Season 2: Episode 2 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

I could see you being closer with Sevika based on the comment hahaha, I probably am, too, in that respect! But yeah, I need to tell myself to not be so easily charmed by Victor's glow up! :D

Romaniablack

Haha no it wasn't you and i like Victor, but perhaps not as much as you do after his... glow up? :) but i just felt he tried to dodge a bit of responsibility there, that's all. It was very much "Jinx", i just guess i'm closer to Sevika than Jinx in my sensibilities. :P

Ahhh, okay, I was wondering what others thought and I can see them thinking it was Vi, too! Especially because of that reaction, so thank you! And yes, it makes sense that her seeing Vi with the Enforcers would elicit that reaction, too! I agree, that Vi doesn’t necessarily agree or *want* to be an Enforcer, but she really hasn’t been left much choice, and the sad thing about is that it’s kind of because of Jinx herself that she doesn’t have a choice; Jinx is caught up in a very sad paradox and loop of trauma that she can’t seem to get out of or realize that she’s stuck in. And yes, it’s interesting that both sides - Piltover and Zaun - see each other as monsters from their perspectives. That is a good point about Mel being the one who said they shouldn’t be used in weapons - I’m thinking mainly of Ambessa and the others, though. But that is good to point out Mel was against it in Season 1 - thanks for that and the comment!

Jinx is here, yes! The idea of the cycles at work here is crazy and I agree, the idea of themes like this IS very interesting and I can’t wait to see what the show does with it! Heimmerdinger sneaking around was adorable! Ekko is just along for the ride! I want more with Ekko, Heimmer, and Jayce and possibly Victor if we ever get it! Speaking of JayVik – I agree that I was NOT expecting Victor to be so dispassionate, but there’s a Hexcore in him now that I’m sure has altered his being, and he’s disappointed in himself, in Jayce, and how they were so wrong and it’s showing now, which is something that’s revelationary for Victor. It was definitely a gut punch, though! Show, don’t sink my ship! And yesss, the idea of Caitlyn’s team being the”monster” in Zaun is crazy and a great contrast. I LOVED Sevika and Jinx in the mourning of Silco moment with their backs turned to each other - SUCH good symbolism! And yes, any time they were mourning Silco, the expressions, the music, the animation - *chef’s kiss!* I looove the OP and yes, that fluidity with Ekko is really good! I like that he seems balanced, which makes for a good comparison alongside Heimmerdinger. The Robin Hood tie in is great! And yes, refreshing is a good way to describe it! Thank you for the comment and kind words!

Hahahaha, was I on your back? I hadn’t remembered but yeah, Victor separating “himself” from the Hexcore - that must have made him feel even more frustrated when Jayce was like, “So yeah, that thing you wanted to disassociate from? It’s now PART OF YOU. Sorry, bro.” I do think that’s a good point that Victor just disposed of Sky’s remains without giving them to her family…*tugs on shirt collar* Yeah….that might be good to bring that up! I’ll have to ask my brother his thoughts on that with Episode 3 when we get to it! I do agree with you that the Sevika (HER NAME. THANK YOU. I kept drawing a blank in the episode) and her fight looked cool but was very Shrek/Music Video – whimsical, YES, but that seems to fly alongside Jinx’s branding of chaos and slight dark whimsy and Sevika seems just as glum about it, so that adds a nice balance! Thank you for the comment and kind words - you’re keeping my fangirling in check so I don’t let things slide past Victor, while I’m condemning Jinx as well! ;)

Romaniablack

He really is, but I'm not opposed to this! Things will surely get interesting! Thank you for the comment!

"It" killed Sky? I remember someone being on my back for being harsh on Victor last season but i think taking a little bit more responsibility here might be in order. You did experiment on something far beyond your understanding, using an illegal drug/bioweapon you got from a disgraced scientist that was working for the biggest kingpin around, all while having been warned about the dangers of it all by the guy that has been around for 300 years. Also she died trying to save you from your own creation and afterwards you cleaned up her remains and made them disappear, i'm sure she have loved ones that would like to know what happend to her. I'd say atleast involuntary manslaughter and the disposing of the reamains should probably get you some other charge as well Victor, am i being to harsh again? :P Yeah, getting a giant weaponized gauntlet, that can crush rock boulders, squeezing your shoulder might not be as comforting as you think Vi. I'm probably in a very small minority here but that Sevika fight didn't quite work for me, sure it looked cool and was well done in every way if it had been a "animated music video" i came across on youtube or something i would praise it. But here in this story right now, it felt a bit to whimsical to me... atleast it seems Sevika agrees with me.

And we've got Jinx! The way that history is repeating itself with this little kid and Jinx, just as it did with Jinx and Silco is certainly something. I love it when stories do this cyclical themes, they're just so interesting. Heimmendinger sneaking into his old lab was so funny and adorable. I loved that he was doing all the stealth things, and Ekko is just casually walking behind him *lol*. And then they scared the heck out of Jayce. Also, Ekko trying tea and *not liking it* is so fair of him. But the contrast of Heimmendinger loving it right at his side makes it even funnier. While I was expecting the Jayvik breakup, considering how much Viktor didn't want this for himself, I was not expecting it to be so... dispassionate. Like, Jayce is over here having a heartbreaking moment, and Viktor just casually strolls out. I swear, this season is not supposed to be as funny as I've found it. That being said, the whole "it was only affection that held us together" was not a punch I saw coming. Caytlin's little team seeming so distorted and monstrous is such a chilling and cool visual. Down here, they are the monsters. Sevika and Jinx mourning Silco was a very powerful scene, I agree. Actually, all scenes with Silco in them were done absolutely beautifully, but what else is new with this show? There's something I wanted to say about the Opening, and that is how much I love that moment of Ekko jumping over the light, and then going back to his place; it feels so free and fluid compared to all the other characters who barely move, and that feels very fitting to me. Ekko seems, for the most part, to have a more balanced view of things, he wants the best for his people but without the corruption that Silco lead, much more like a bandit, like a Robin Hood than anything else; and in a show with so much political intrigue that feels refreshing. It's just a little visual on that Opening that I love.

I really like Jinx's reaction to seeing Vi, the scene is all "show, don't tell" like you said. She was distraught, crying and screaming afterwards. Not just because it was Vi, but because Vi was in an enforcer uniform. Enforcers, the group that people in Zaun hate, the group that killed their parents. This scene is a direct parallel to a scene in season 1 when Vi and Jinx (they were still kids) returned home after stealing from Piltover. They were hunted by a bunch of enforcers in the exact same place, and they had to hide in the exact same way. Jinx also immediately hates Caitlyn in season 1 because she is an enforcer. Even Vi was horrified when Caitlyn brought up the idea in the first episode. (Now we, the audience, know Vi doesn't want to do it; she just thinks that's the best option she has right now to defeat Jinx and stop the chaos. Her enforcer outfit looks weird and doesn't fit her like the rest of the squad. Still, that can bring up a lot of trauma for Jinx and explain her extreme reaction.) The first episode was from Piltover's perspective, and we were introduced to our loveable enforcer squad. But in this episode, the framing of them is mysterious and scary, like a big bad monster in the smoke, moving as one. That's how people Zaun see enforcers. "Viktor left because Mel and the others may want to use him as a weapon". Well, I agree the others in the council definitely would. But in the first episode this season, Mel was the only one in the council who voice her opinion that hextech should not be used as weapons. She told Jayce she would not let them do that. The one who is pushing for that is Mel's mother, Ambessa, who Mel has been actively against since the end of season 1.
