Land of the Lustrous: Episode 4 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

 *PHYSIOLOGICAL HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

The last two weeks, I was like, "Well that was weird, but at least nothing is too complex." Then the show said, "Hold my beer."

We get a LOT of "evolution" in terms of the lore, the questions within the story, the mystery, AND more puzzle pieces are emerging on the board -- now, if only we can keep Phos out of life-threatening shenanigans in the meantime!

Land of the Lustrous: Episode 4 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

Yeahhh, I’m not sure if I remember what I expected from this series when I started, but at this point - this was NOT what I expected!! Yesss, I love the tower of babel-esque element of it all – and that idea of them being “Unchanging,” yes! That’s a great point about them to bring up! And humanity repeating mistakes and messing up? *NERVOUS LAUGHTER* And yeah, poor Phos being lured in by Veri *sobs* What can we do?! Thank you for the comment and kind words! So excited for the episodes to come!

Ahhhh, yes, THAT is the title! Thank you! 😀That was driving me crazy! And yesss, it became Blade Runner, which I LOVE to such a high degree! Poor Phos falling into the trap, though! And thank you for looking up the name Admirabilis for me! I appreciate that! I’ll definitely mention it in a future episode! And yessss, all the new information answers questions while also creating new ones! That is a neat notion about the pearls too - I wonder if we will see any in the series? That could generate some INTERESTING discussions if we do; we shall see! Thank you for the comment! I can’t wait for the episodes to come!

Ahhh, yes, I am going to touch on that theory with the gloves and so he doesn’t hurt them in a future episode, but I’m so glad you mention it here! 😀That’s a great connection to them handling the other elements with gloves on – thank you for the comment and pointing that out! I love the show giving us little details like that!

Oh, this episode brings a lot of things into play that, at first, you definitely don't expect from this gemstone anime. And it's wonderful. The whole idea that humanity perished and all that remains of it is these separate parts of it is fascinating. And the representations of them just make them more interesting. Considering that the gemstones are the bones of humanity, I think it makes a lot of sense with the way they seem to be almost unchanging. Bones grow a lot in the first years of life, but after that initial exponential growth they don't change for a long time. The gemstones seem to have undergone an initial exponential change, gaining bodies and sentience, but have stopped with their change for a long time... until now that we see Cinnabar and Dia questioning their place in this society. The Lunarians being the soul, though. Them, being the soul and carrying the very human need of being one again, of repeating the mistakes of the past, if you can call it a mistake, and wanting to defy nature - as I'm gonna assume it's nature who separated humans into three beings - to achieve their goals. Humanity doing foolish things? What are you talking about XD It is pretty messed up that Vel (is that the snail's name? I can't remember right now XD) lured Phos into the ocean and set a trap for them.

Might wanna edit that very last section about the series length. She doesn’t like knowing that stuff

Kongo/Adamant wears the gloves any time he’s touching any of the gems. Probably because he’s so much harder than them. We see all the gems put on gloves when handling certain items or pieces of others, likely to avoid cracking or scraping themselves or each other. Bort and Dia also seem to wear them at all times on their arms and legs for presumably the same reason. Rutile is the same, being the doctor and all.

So the story you almost got the title correct for is a sci fi story by PK Dick, “ Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep” one word summary of the story is: empathy. Great story that they of course made into a movie called Blade Runner. https://youtu.be/piVnArp9ZE0?si=X0AxUw-zOwKA_e-q But still, I was rooting for Admirabilis! 😅 Yes, Phos, oh trusting gem that they are, walked right into it! So I looked up the name Admirabilis so you didn’t have to get spoiled! It has a Latin root which means admirable, to admire and to wonder! It’s quite nice actually. We do get the explanation of Bone, Body and Spirit in this episode and it answers some questions and raises others! So I looked up the shell that is depicted and it’s called a Murex shell. I remember seeing it in an article about rare shells and thinking it was beautiful looking. It’s very delicate and lacy looking so it fits right in with these creatures. This is just a reminder, pearls are considered gems and the only ones made by a living thing, organic gems! Love your reaction as always. Anyway, can’t wait for the next episode!
