Meanwhile, my brother and I see if our version of Senshi's "Walking Mushroom Hot Pot" will measure up to the source...erhmmm....

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

Ooohhhhh, interesting! That's wild that a tiny difference like that gets the label! :D But good to know - thank you for that info! <3

Irish pancakes are made with buttermilk, flour, eggs, and a little bit of sugar. We just call them pancakes, but if I want them over on Mainland UK they're branded as "Irish pancakes" in the grocery store 🤣 I believe they're very similar to American pancakes, but not as sweet. If we want our pancakes sweet then we add condiments like jam/jelly or Nutella to them 😁

Oh no, that sucks about food intolerances! I definitely am glad I don’t have a nut allergy or am lactose intolerant - since I love peanut butter and dairy foods, but honestly, as much as I enjoyed chocolate, it’s not been hard to live without it. But YES, Laios has drank the monster kool-aid for REAL! I love that Senshi is not a wasteful person, as well - he and Laios are on the same wavelength! I love their friendship so far! Marcille is SO much like Hermoine Granger in her attitude around things - but I like her personality, especially for being an elf that subverts tropes. And the snake egg “squishing” was just ewwwww. No, it’s over. Chilchuk is Anime DND David Tennant from now on - this is a Doctor AU and we just don’t realize it! I love how he and Senshi came to develop a friendship and comradery in this as well! Also, all the VA information! Yesssss! Ooh, the Ulster Fry! That sounds so interesting! I am always intrigued that Europe makes baked beans for breakfast! What makes “irish” pancakes different from other pancakes? But yes, that is a HEFTY breakfast! I definitely need to eat more vegetables with my breakfast. There are so many little moments and details that are in “other languages” that I wish were translated for us, but they are fun to look at regardless. I also agree that while the stories of my friend and with Laios are funny, women in the same situations have that problem with a little more dread. AHAHA, and yeah, my mother has a story about cooking a chicken I may have to tell in a future episode, but yeah, that is amazing that you’re cooking a chicken! I am terrified of cooking a bird, haha – and I agree, I’m not a turkey fan, either. Thank you for the information on your various noodle-cooking, though! 😀My brother, yes, has made some recipes from Food Wars, and they were TASTY, but did not seem any easier. And yes! My brother and I are basically Gimli and Legolas! XD I constantly turn my stove burner up too high when cooking – let’s get heat right out of the gate! Haha! I’m impatient! I am sad that you have that intolerance to seafood! That is a good note about the tongs – I’ll make note of that, thank you! And coooooornflour! That would have been a good idea as well! Thank you! I appreciate the comment and kind words, so I’m excited to see what will happen next in the series and hope you enjoy the omelette as well!

Don't have a food allergy, just a couple of food intolerances which result in me vomiting if I eat the things my stomach can't handle/doesn't like. I know with allergies (especially more severe ones) the side effects of eating something containing the allergen is way worse so definitely understand the complete avoidance, and preferring that to what the taste of said allergen is. My response though would be sadness (and empathy) for you if you eat out somewhere and there are limited options for you on the menu. My best friend is lactose intolerant which is not great in a country that likes to add butter to vegetables and potatoes after they've been cooked, so she always has to be careful on where and what she eats, and has to check with the server on if any lactose/dairy items are included in a dish (which usually has to be worded as listing off all the usual suspects because so many servers we've met haven't known that most butter or cream here in NI contain lactose unless they're lactose-free or vegan). Laios has definitely drunk the monster-eating cool aid 🤣 Love Senshi being the voice of education on a balanced diet. It's a perfect way of teaching people about the food pyramid 🥰 Whilst we get crazy Laios with his effective (yet embarrassing) techniques for fighting monsters 🤣 I love him so much! Marcille in this moment with the mandarake reminds me of Hermione Granger in The Half-Blood Prince when she was adamant that she had to follow the directions in the textbook, and not the scribbles from the Half-Blood Prince in Harry's second-hand textbook 😂 But like you I do find it refreshing to see an elf with her kind of personality, strengths, and weaknesses. Not often do I come across an elf character that doesn't follow the typical tropes. Senshi is a waste-not, want-not dwarf; my kind of man! 🥰 I giggled so hard at your disgusted "Ugh" when Senshi just squished the snake egg to break it open 😆 Now you've pointed out the similarity I can't help but see the David Tennant resemblance 😂 Especially how Chilchuck investigated the floor, reminded me a lot of The 10th Doctor. I love the way they approached Senshi and Chilchuck gaining an appreciation for each other's skills, and recognising that they each have different strengths and weaknesses. Chilchuck's blushing face with this tsundere getting a compliment definitely makes me wanna ship it too 😁 I forgot about seiyuu last episode as well 😆 So yeah bar the roles you mentioned: Laios's seiyuu, Kumagai Kentarou, was also the voice actor for Usami Aoba from Free! Senshi's voice actor, Naka Hiroshi, has also voiced Dr. Duurer from Monster; Gamabunta (big boss toad) and Enma (the Third Hokage's monkey summon) from Naruto; Shirogane from Psycho-Pass; and the Orphanage Headmaster from Bungou Stray Dogs. Marcille's seiyuu, Senbongi Sayaka, was also the voice of Olivia (the deceased daughter of the author Violet helped with that infamous parasol over the lake scene) from Violet Evergarden. For Episode 2: The Narrator is voiced by Mikami Satoshi, and he has also voiced Jerome Karlstahl from 86; and Isidor from Violet Evergarden. Marcille's mother's seiyuu, Kumagai Mirei, was also the voice actor for Sharon from Spy x Family; young Wolfwood from Trigun Stampede; and Oddny from Vinland Saga. From last week's episode: Falin's voice actor, Hayami Saori, is also a prolific seiyuu, and has voiced Tsumiki (Fushiguro's step-sister) from Jujutsu Kaisen; Anju from 86; Reo's mother from Blue Lock; Yor from Spy x Family; Shinobu from Demon Slayer/Kimetsu no Yaiba; Shouko from Koe no Katachi/A Silent Voice; and Hiiragi Shinoa from Owari no Seraph/Seraph of the End. The bacon roll/bap I'm in agreement with you, especially as a breakfast item. Give me eggs, toast, or cereal for breakfast. But the favourite breakfast dish in my country (and with several members of my family) would be an Ulster Fry. I like them, but it's too much to eat at breakfast so if I make one I always make it for dinner. Ulster Frys will differ depending on where you go. At home mine includes: beef (or pork) sausages, bacon, fried egg, fried mushrooms, fried tomato, vegetable roll (kind of like a large slice of seasoned sausage that has onion and leek in it), baked beans [only for my Dad or Mum's partner], Irish pancakes, soda bread, potato bread, and sometimes toast. It's supposed to all be fried, but I prefer my meat grilled and my breads toasted. Either way it's way too much, in my opinion, for a breakfast dish 😆 And some places don't do vegetables, but I'm all about trying to balance out some of those proteins and carbs. I agree with you that I wish they'd also translate the images for like when Senshi was explaining the food pyramid. The story you told about the guy you knew in college made me laugh so hard! I have heard some similar kinds of stories from guys that have been in "threatening" situations using strange techniques (like Laios's screaming) to thwart or scare off their attacker. They are hilarious to hear about, but on the flip side a lot of females I know were raised knowing some various techniques (like holding your keys in a way they can be used as a weapon if necessary) to use as self-defence. Within this episode Laios is able to use his own size to further make himself appear more intimidating towards the basilisk, but someone with a more slight build (like Marcille or Chilchuck) might find it harder to give off a threatening aura. I did laugh at you adamantly saying you're not cooking a whole chicken, mainly because I have a turkey currently defrosting in my fridge to cook this week, then divide and parcel up for over the Christmas holidays 🤣 So I have stuffing to make and put in it, and then cover it in bacon, and make a soup stock from the neck...all when I can't even eat turkey 😂 My way of cooking with noodles depends on what I'm making. So stir-fry I bung the noodles into the wok for the last three minutes of cooking. Ramen and hot pot I usually use noodles that need to be boiled first, then strain them and add them to my individual bowls/serving plates, and then ladle the meat, vegetables, and broth on top. This way I find the easiest to get the noodles the right texture and not overcook them. For konjac noodles though I'm not sure the best way to prep and cook them. Throwing them in with everything else would help them absorb more of the flavour from the stock, but I would find it tricky on trying to get them so as they're not rubbery. I did laugh at your brother saying he wanted you do to Shoukugeki no Soma/Food Wars first 🤣 I've made some of the recipes from Shoukugeki no Soma...they aren't any simpler than Dungeon Meshi's. Also laughing at you choosing elf and your brother choosing dwarf because with those two specific races my first thought automatically goes to Lord of the Rings and the rivalry between the two races in Middle Earth 😆 I have the same issue at times with water or stock bubbling up like that too. Mine is usually because I have the heat up a little higher than I should so as I don't have to stand as long cooking 🤣 You did much better than I could have with the lobster. I couldn't even be in the room whilst it's cooking my intolerance for fish and seafood is that bad 😅 I would suggest next time you're doing hotpot if it's made with bigger chunks like this one, tongs would be easier to grab each ingredient so as you get a bit of everything and then the big spoon that came with the hotpot to ladle the stock over it all afterwards. Also makes it easier to not put too much broth into your bowl. And honestly if you want a thicker broth without having to add more miso and potentially making it too salty, cornflour [I think in the US the equivalent to the UK's cornflour is corn starch] and water mixed together and poured in will help a lot without flavouring the stock (so long as you properly mix the water and cornflour together until there are no lumps and use a 1:2 ratio for the cornflour and water [i.e. one teaspoon of cornflour to two teaspoons of cold water). And then just mix it through your stock and leave to simmer for around two minutes. Looking forward to the omelette next week!

Honestly, Laios screaming at the monsters - I just love this Lab of a man! XD It's crazy how the episodes go - I agree, though, that the cooking segments feel like a bonus! Aw, thank you so much for the comment and kind words! I am VERY excited for the omelettes!

Romaniablack

Thank you for the comment and kind words! I agree; this episode was so fun and giving us all the shipping ideas! Ooohh, that's a solid breakfast! And oooohhhh, turkey stock! That sounds interesting! 8-10 hours of cooking sounds like a marathon! *sweats* YES! Omelettes definitely were a BETTER choice! I can't wait to see that asian-centric omelette recipe!!

Romaniablack

I too enjoy watching Laos scream at monsters to assert dominance over them 😁 I think I have the opposite feeling about the episode lengths. You said they felt like they went by really fast but every time I watch an episode and the show continues after a cooking portion I’m like ‘oh, they’re still going? Neat!’ Gives the whole thing a kind of 2-3 in one feeling Also just wanted to say I really enjoy your character analyses here. Thanks for the video! Good luck with the omelettes!

Amalia Jungclaus

Oh, this was a fun episode! I agree with you, I’d crush on Chilchuck and Laios. Really, they are all adorable in their own way! So for breakfast we had breakfast tacos, egg and potato. We usually have that on the weekend. I just got almost all the ingredients for menudo…. Just holding back on some as I want to buy them fresh. Today or tomorrow, we are making turkey stock! Probably be doing that tomorrow as it’s like 8-10 hours of cooking….. I think omelets is a great choice for next week’s cooking session! I’ve got a good recipe for you that is of course, Asian centric! Great reaction as always, looking forward to next week!
