Delicious in Dungeon: Episode 3 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

*ARMORED HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

We finally get a little crumb of backstory on our man Laios, as the crew engages in a mysterious "living armor" that Laios is convinced is edible!

The detective work in this episode combined with the humor and sweetness made for a very delectable experience! And the cooking this week worked out well, too! I hope you all enjoy!

RIGHT?! Insane that deaths just HAPPEN in this series which is wild - I get the “deaths” thing now, and I’ll definitely address it in a future episode, but thank you! Laois is so sweet in wanting to know all he can with monsters! <3 The world building and mechanisms are so awesome in how they’re explained; it makes this series so much more endearing. Also, YES, the Doctor Who vibes with the living armor is where I was, too! But yeah, thinking about Daleks reproducing? I’ll leave that to Laios to research! 😛 I definitely get the neurodivergent vibes, but I love how not only do his comrades not hold any of that against him but they accept him and he’s totally comfortable in his skin. He DEFINITELY hyper-fixates on monsters, but that also reminds me of Shen QingQiu in a lot of ways, haha! I like that we get little crumbs of Falin as well! Speaking of crumbs, yessss, I blame partially getting the bacon at a local gas station because I was in a rush and they jack up the pricing anyway, but pork is expensive in the US right now - there’s probably a shortage or something in the industry at the moment. Beef did that here a few years ago and is about to now after a draught killed off a lot of cattle earlier this year. Ooohhh egg whites! I kept thinking that would do *something* but that is good to know with making them fluffier! That is HILARIOUS about parsnips! They’re pretty good! They’re not “common” go-to’s in my area of the US. Usually for vegetables, my family always made Green beans, carrots, spinach, potatoes, black-eyed peas, corn, cauliflower and broccoli, brussel sprouts…and bacon-wrapped asparagus if we’re fancy. 😛 HOWEVER, the idea of parsnips with honey and soy sauce glaze? Now THAT sounds delicious!! I will have to try that! Also, I just need to invest in cutting scissors. XD My brother knows that when I’ve “improvised” or “altered” recipes in the past, it’s had bad results, so yeah, he was NOT having the milk in omelettes! My parents have kept back bacon grease for cooking as well for that reason! That is REALLY a neat technique with the garlic - will have to try that, too! As well as the spatula trick! Also, I’ll take the Senshi fan service all day long! Also, how the dynamic works is great between these four! I’ll be curious, if we get Falin back, how that dynamic will change or develop! Thank you for the comment and kind words! The omelette was good but I definitely will try that trick with the garlic for the future!

Oohhhh!! I'm not sure I would like it then but thank you for the link to it and the Burdock recipe! And yay! I'm so glad the Menudo came out well! :D But that is crazy!! Definitely a labor of love, and that hard work definitely translates to a more delicious plate! Happy Holidays!!

Quite a shock that introducing the Living Armour is through an immediate death 😅 I've seen other people explain what Laios meant by his first death in your comments. It is a very blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment when Marcille mentions her own first death in Episode 1. It is fitting for the way they introduce you to the story by throwing you into the deep end, but definitely does cause confusion for some people. Well done on figuring out how the Living Armour moves! I do adore Laios' disappointment when they think Living Armour is just metal and leather and so can't be eaten 🤣 But the best moment is when he thinks about how an important aspect of discovering how Living Armour works is that they're edible 🤣 Definitely showing his himbo side to me with how good he is at figuring out such a creature, and discovering its weak point, whilst also considering being able to eat it. I do have to take my hat off to them for coming up with such a creative idea! This is a great episode for not only seeing a bit more of Laios and Falin's relationship, but also being able to really see our four-man team (Laios, Marcille, Chilchuck, and Senshi) in combat and their various physical talents when fighting the Living Armour. Instead of the "typical" shounen fanservice of an upskirt shot of a female character we get one of Senshi in Dungeon Meshi this episode 😅 Marcille just regretting her life choices, Chilchuck has kinda given up on even trying with Laios, and Senshi is Laios' enabler 😆 I do have to say I'm a little like Senshi with how after tasting the new ingredient he considers how he could improve his cooking. I like that little bit of realism to his cooking efforts. Also if I cook something new, especially for my Dad, I'm the one that has to taste test it first but normally that's to check the spice level of it rather than if it'll accidentally poison someone. Laios definitely gives me neurodivergent vibes this episode with his reaction to the others wanting him to eat first. He takes it at face value that they want him to enjoy the food first, but the hidden meaning behind Senshi, Marcille, and Chilchuck's actions are for him to be their poison/food tester (like Maomao from Apothecary Diaries 😂) But I also get neurodivergent vibes from his hyperfixation on monsters. It is fun though for me that he is intrigued and wants to know about all things related to monsters including how they reproduce 😁 I don't think I've come across many fantasy stories with various creatures that goes into any detail on how the mating habits of those creatures differ to other animals or people. Laios is definitely one who doesn't mind living on the edge, as we see with his plans this episode but also with him taking the sword at the end (and hiding the presence of the creature from his companions). Your thought about the creature controlling the Living Armour inside the shell of the chest piece or helmet is similar to mine. For that I did think of the Daleks or the Cybermen in Doctor Who 😆 Though it then did make me think: Laios would not be a good Doctor's companion. He'd likely want to know how to cook Daleks, among a whole host of alien lifeforms, as well as the complete ins and outs of each creature and how they mate. I happily admit when I first started this anime I did not think to have the question "How do Daleks reproduce?" on my bingo card 🤣 When you said the bacon was like 10 bucks I almost had a heart attack. I know there is a big discrepancy in the cost of groceries in the US in comparison with the UK but that is seriously nuts. The fanciest bacon I can get in my local grocery store wouldn't even cost £4 ($5) for that amount of bacon. Even if I was to buy the bacon from my local butcher it wouldn't cost anywhere near $10, and that's with the prices having gone up a good bit this year due to the cost of living. For really fluffy omelettes I use one egg yolk and two egg whites per omelette. Beat the egg whites until they're stiff peaks (I use a hand mixer for this rather than beating by hand). In a separate bowl lightly beat the yolk (salt and pepper to taste). Gently incorporate the yolk and whites. Then you just cook your omelette as normal. I'm glad I was sitting down when you said you'd never eaten a parsnip before 🤣 They're a very common vegetable here. Especially so at Christmas time. Main vegetables of choice here are Brussel sprouts, carrots, and parsnips. Some people like the latter two mashed up together, others like them steamed, some like them boiled, but most people I know like them baked in the oven (usually in a honey and soy sauce glaze). Bacon is an annoyance to cut. Just like with the lobster for the previous video, I would recommend kitchen scissors for cutting up bacon. Makes cutting through the fat (or even removing the fat) so much more easier. Just from the look on your face I could tell your brother was completely unconvinced at the idea of adding milk to your omelettes 😂 Saving the oil/fat from cooking is a common country cooking "technique" here in NI too. It definitely helps reduce how oily some things can be, but also reduce your food waste. I believe one of my great aunts uses solidified bacon oil as a substitute for lard when baking her homemade bread. We also typically keep the oil from cooking the turkey to use to keep the meat from drying out when warming it up at Christmas time. I always have issues with my garlic not catching with the heat. A Japanese chef though once told me that the best way to not burn my garlic is to put it in the pan (or wok) when the pan is still cold and then put it on the heat. This is grand for recipes that call for cooking the herbs and spices first, but not the most helpful for a recipe like your omelette one. I'm useless at flipping things 🤣 It is not a kitchen co-ordination I am blessed with. You did far better than me! But I have learned a helpful technique to make it a little easier. As the omelette is cooking gently run your fish slice/spatula along the centre to create a line. Don't go right down to the pan, just the top "layer" of the omelette. Do this three or four times whilst your omelette cooks. Then add your filling to one half. Using your fish slice/spatula gently lift the empty half of the omelette and fold it over. I would agree with your brother to add the spices while you're whisking up your egg, or to take little pinches and sprinkle them on by hand. Pouring them in from a glass does make it much harder to evenly spread them around 😆 But your omelettes did look really tasty! I may have to try parsnip as a filling for them the next time I make omelettes for dinner.

Bitter melon is a vegetable that is very very bitter! 😖 In all these years I have eaten and cooked Chinese food, I have not acquired a taste for it. I will eat fermented tofu, jelly fish and other things that many won’t touch. But, this vegetable defeats me every single time! https://youtube.com/shorts/n35CLXAidbY?si=sHxM8n5w8r1r_EWo The menudo came out excellently! The torch as been past to me and I’m sure from now on, I have to supply the menudo every year! Hahahahah! Really, it was fun to make and I think I’m going to do another batch. It took 5 hours to cook! It was a commitment and a labor of love. And very delicious! 😋 Burdock recipe: https://youtu.be/WyKezyCTTBY?si=14KpcUoH3ilqYfZ7 I’ve made this before.

Ooohh, Thank you for the recipes for the oyster omelette and the stir fry - I LOVE a stir fry! Yay – I am saving these (and I LOVE sweet chili sauces, so absolutely would add)! I’m honestly not a huge oyster fan but if it was cooked with something else, I might be on board for it, just not by itself - I do like brussel sprouts, but calling them bitter melons! XD That’s really funny! I will have to share the omelette recipes with my brother, because he LOVES to make omelettes all the time! And roasted parsnips actually sound DELICIOUS! And thank you so much for the tidbit about the garlic - I had not considered it and yes, it did taste a little bitter - but fried burdock sounds fascinating! Thank you so much for the comment and kind words and I’m excited for your cooking journey for Menudo!

I have two dishes for today! One is an oyster omelette and the other is ginger and oyster stir fry. I’ve had both but I’ve never made them at home. I may have to make this! I tend to like the stir fry a bit better only because it’s a bit more available in our area. Recently the Taiwanese cuisine has become a bit more prevalent so the omelette is becoming easier to find. Apparently, it’s kinda easy to make. I found videos for the recipes: The oyster omelette- https://youtu.be/F_GF96ZsjWA?si=rYT-qHHRgchNBa3O Street view. A Taiwan Market: https://youtu.be/sUVDHz_62EQ?si=60i7-rUL1n02-Whr You can also put a sweet “ chili” sauce on it. The Ginger and Oyster Stir Fry: https://youtu.be/UJsTxOH6uhc?si=JCjnExLzqdplLgRf I love oysters! I have a pretty wide palette so there is very little that I dislike. I dislike a bitter Brussels sprout. We did have Brussels sprouts for thanksgiving and it was done well! I loved them! I also don’t like bitter melon….. So husband loves to try and master a skill. For a good month we had omelettes. Lots of them! He was trying to cook them like Chef Jacques Pepin. https://youtu.be/X1XoCQm5JSQ?si=4E1JOGbRex_sO1hH He has not done omelette rice though and that looks to be a more technique sensitive dish. The master himself Chef Motokichi Yukimura. https://youtube.com/shorts/0CkZ6HXmu0s?si=qaYtA4rwzo9tuFaX Oh man, burdock is available here in North Texas! Heck, I love it fried. I do like parsnips, I usually have them roasted. They are good! Yeah, the alligator I have never seen in the stores…. But I’ve seen other game meat. I believe you can get it on line. Yeah, I don’t usually have regular milk, I usually use almond milk as well. You did a great job with the omelette! Just a tip with the garlic, try not to burn it, it will make it bitter. Add it later, or reduce the temperature. 😉 can’t wait for next episode! Wonder what you will make in the kitchen next! Edit: just got back from the market. Oysters ( frozen) are 5.99 for a small pkg. I found fresh for like 16 🦌’s. The frozen looked better…. But, not this weekend! I am prepping for menudo today.
