Y'all....HOW?! How does this two-part season opener have JUST as much suspense and intensity as the last THREE SEASONS of the anime?!
I was not prepared for a wild ride like this week! I'm reviewing Volume 7 of the manga (covering parts of season 3) before we dive into the first two episodes, where I am FERAL. Hope y'all are ready!

Ahhh, thank you for the comment and kind words! I can’t believe we’re here with SEASON 4! Already?! Insane. I do like the way the anime is adapting the manga, it’s just so interesting to see the differences between them! But really, let’s leave Natsume alone! He’s just a kid! I do love seeing he’s growing up! We’ve definitely come a long way! Also, Hinoe and Misuzu are just a power duo! I loe them, too! And Best Boy Tanuma out here being the total opposite of Matoba! OH REALLY?! That is such a wild theory but I don’t blame you - I often have suspicions as well, so I can relate! But yes, the end of season 3 solidified that the Fujiwaras are protecting him and are 100% in for Natsume. And yesss…Natsume with the jumper from Shigure? LOVE. Cannot get over it! I absolutely get the hesitation with authority figures but I’m glad Natsume has a genuine home that’s good for him! Thanks for the comment and kind words! I cannot WAIT for Season 4 to unfold!

For Vol 7: I like the anime change of showing a fuller version of Natsume’s world and the importance of each (human and yokai) in contrast, particularly for a season finale. And agreed, everyone still keeps: trying to eat Natsume, tying him up, kidnapping him – they all need to stop! Natsume’s progression is very clear – I especially enjoy these parts of the discussions where the overarching comparisons and story progression comes in. We have come such a long way to Natsume saying: ‘Protecting yokai is important to me.’ 🥰 Hinoe and Misuzu were amazing in these episodes, love them so. And Tanuma Best Boi Always! 🥰 I also do have a funny confession to make – it was exactly at the end of Season 3 and beginning of Season 4 that I let go of my suspicions regarding the Fujiwaras. Up until that point I was EXCEEDINGLY uncharitable, knife out all the time towards them – just waiting for when they would turn on darling Natsume. But then the last set of S3 episodes happened where everyone was working to protect him, where we learn more about the beginning of their relationship, and the pinkie swears, and the cozy jumper and Toko The Angel… They finally won me over, took them 3 seasons of being the kindest and sweetest. 😂 I know I have a tendency to treat authority and parental/guardian figures with mistrust but the extent of it for Natsume was hilarious. 😂 Looking forward to next week! 💙
