Delicious in Dungeon: Episode 4 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

*STEWED HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

This episode we really went "down to earth" with gardening, golems, and...interpersonal relations? Well, why not?!

Senshi proves he has a lot of stake in the dungeons, friends in low places, and our crew finds that to survive in the dungeon, it's going to take more than just cooking skills!

Ahhh, I might have to consider Falin for a cosplay but I’m glad my hair isn’t the only one that “waves” in moisture haha! Hahaha, I SO see your logic on “adding legs” but agreed, the walking mushrooms are an exception. I also love the world-building and how we establish this “ecosystem” in this world - it’s so clever and creative! And the fact that they do the little detail about Marcille’s hair changing - it’s those little touches that are so cute and intricate and gets you tied more to the show. I love Senshi’s demeanor – I say this in a future episode, but he’s basically the Ron Swanson of Dungeon Meshi…just more concerned about the ecosystem. 😛 But the lessons from Senshi on gardening were really nice. BUT YES, I weed around my home during the spring and summer and it is a TASK and very tiring, which you wouldn’t think it would be. The carrots in Laios’s belt are what got me! And ahhh, yes, I can see the Smeagol connection! XD Honestly, I hadn’t thought of a bread maker! I just kept thinking of the “proving drawer” in Great British Bake Off and was like, “Well I don’t have that!” haha!! That’s at least good to know in case I want to invest in that to make bread for the show in the future! The baby orc was CUTE. The argument with Marcille and the orc’s dad was really well done, too! And how they manipulated the dad to get that bread…literally! That’s interesting about the Kobold lore, there! I’m glad the onion chopping hack worked! But the turnip, hahaha, I had to literally stand on the counter and put all my weight into that one…probably would not do it again, though, for the cutter’s sake! Carving a TURNIP?! That is so wild (I will have to look up what a swede is!) - pumpkins are really common here in the fall, so I can’t imagine not having one for Halloween lying around! Having Laios at a bar would be great, but like you said, I’d have to watch for spoilers around him, hahaha!! And yesss, I’ve recommended Apothecary Diaries about six times to him already! 😛 I would have to eat cow tongue under the caveat that it didn’t look like a cow tongue and that it was HEAVILY cooked or Barbequed, haha! The idea that they could be “chewy?” Ehhhhhhhhh The bread joke we both had and I’m so glad he filmed it perfectly. It definitely is hard for me to keep bread eating for one, but that is a good hack, there! Thank you for the info and the comment! 😀

Ahhh, thank you so much for the comment and kind words! And thank you for the compliment on the Corgi sweater! :D I love that this series has such a VARIETY of character and character types -- some for everyone to like and grab onto! :P

I appreciate your thoughts on Marcille as a character, and agree that the guys are all attractive in various ways ;) Also, your shirt either all the doggies on it is super cute! Thanks for the video!

I totally agree with you, Romania is so great for putting so much into the reactions and going beyond! I've been around for a little under a year and I've seen other content creators suffer from mental health / fatigue and fall off the wagon for months, but Romania is so organized with everything and puts out content more reliably than anyone! I think you'll really love supporting her, and I agree the attention to comments is one of a kind. If you need more content of hers to watch, I've seen both Chainsaw Man and Berserk and highly recommend her reactions and discussions. She discusses Chainsaw Man very well with its NGE influences and Berserk really introduced me to seeing the characters in a new light, which I loved! I'm sure there's a ton of other series that are incredible to see reactions on as well - there's so many I still want to see!

My hair goes the same way with the rain which, considering where I live, is pretty much a constant 🤣 Falin though would definitely be a character you could cosplay without really needing a wig 💖 Usually adding legs to things that should not have legs I typically find creepy, but the walking mushrooms in this anime are adorable 😆 I adore the genius of the creatures in this show. Like how the Living Armour moves around in the previous episode and then in this one with Senshi using the golems as gardens 🥰 Waste not, want not. Perfectly acceptable use of things lying around and surviving off the land. One of my favourite parts of the design of this show is them giving Marcille different hairstyles depending on what she's doing. No magic long hair that won't get in her way or dirty when trying to garden 🤣 Yet another piece of realism. As is the discussion about the toilets 😂 Senshi's reasoning behind why he does what he does makes him my favourite character 🥺 He's all about maintaining the circle of life within the dungeon. The way they carry the produce around is humorous but so realistic too. They don't have an inventory space like in a game, and it would be strange for them to have enough bags to put all the vegetables in. The short merchant with straggly hair always makes me think of Smeagol/Gollum from The Lord of the Rings 🤣 Senshi seems like such a serious character but not when it comes to bread 🤣 Bread is *a lot* to do, unless you have a bread maker to help the process. I have made my own focaccia before that turned out pretty well, but it felt like I'd done a workout for a couple of hours 🤣 A bread maker or stand mixer definitely helps make the kneading much easier on your muscles. Baby orc is truly adorable. And I definitely think they got it very realistic for how a child that age would behave like when he wanted to touch the dough, but also his lack of prejudice towards Marcille as an elf. I love that the worldbuilding and explanation of the history between differing races is well executed through the argument Marcille and the baby orc's Dad. Reiterated complaints and differing perspectives on their shared history is very realistic. Gotta love that Marcille and Senshi use the father's love for his child to be able to get a meal out of their stay 😆 I do know of several parents that get called out by their kids for not acting the way they've told their kids to act (mostly that "sharing is caring") 😂 Yes! I love the little lesson on gardening we get from Senshi with needing to sow different crops each year. For example, we grow our own potatoes for during the summer but we have to rotate which bedding we plant them each year, and can plant other vegetables instead. I feel the fertiliser aspect is one more widely known, but I do love that this little gardening segment touched on both parts of growing crops. And I definitely feel Marcille finding the act of de-weeding the golems and gathering the grown crops more tiring that actually fighting a creature. It is a tiring job and definitely not enough respect is given to crop farmers (at least in the west) for the work they do. But it also requires using different muscles or moving your body in ways it's not used to which will increase the tiredness you feel too. Kobolds looking like wolves/dogs in Japanese media I believe is down to Dungeons & Dragons. When it was imported into Japan kobolds had dog-like faces. And from there that's how they tend to look in Japanese media now, whereas western media tend to portray them as more reptilian. Using the apple cutter seems like a very smart choice for cutting your onions. My eyes are *very* sensitive to onions. The only way I won't cry when cutting or cooking them is if I pop them in the freezer for twenty minutes or so after peeling off the skin. Recipes that don't give me exact measurements for herbs and spices is always a bit of a challenge 😆 But at the same time after cooking something two or three times I don't tend to do exact measurements for those ingredients and just judge by sight on what's enough 😂 That is honestly one industrial-type apple cutter you have for it to be able to cut through a turnip! I was definitely prepared to giggle a little as it failed miserably for you. Glad though that it did work. Turnip can be a hardy vegetable to cut through so anything that makes that easier is always good. Turnip is a very common vegetable here. Especially mashed up with some carrots. But don't think I've ever had it as a salad. Also when I was a kid at Halloween our grocery stores didn't sell pumpkins. If you wanted to carve something to make a jack-o-lantern then you'd either use a turnip or a swede 😆 Senshi would definitely be my go-to as a camping buddy too 😂 Definitely agree with you and your brother's thoughts on how each of them would be going for a drink. Personally I'd put Laios on my maybe list because I can imagine him geeking out even more about monsters when drinking and may try to impart knowledge that I'm unsure I'd want to know 🤣 (And yes I do see the irony in *me* saying that, but when I talk about certain things some people may wish to never know [and some of which I wish I never knew] I at least put it behind spoiler tags to read if you dare 😂) I loved you *immediately* recommending The Apothecary Diaries to your brother when he mentioned pufferfish 😂 Cow tongue isn't too bad if it's nice thin slivers for you to BBQ at some yakiniku places in Tokyo, but I have tried thicker pieces and they were just a bit too chewy for me. Hurt my jaw trying to chew it enough that I could then swallow. The slow pan to those bread rolls and your brother's laughter 🤣 After making focaccia once the closest I'll go to making bread is buying half-cooked bread from the grocery store. The directions say you just need to sprinkle them with a taste of water and then bake for fifteen minutes but I usually rub a little taste of butter around the rolls or baguette as well to help them have a nice golden colour and a more crispy outside layer.

When I discovered your channel, through the bungou stray dogs react, I really liked how you commented on the work and looked for curiosities, in the recent reacts I see that you have been bringing something more, like in apothecary diares you are reading the eunuch's book and in dungeon meshi you are cooking some of the dishes, you are the first person I wanted to accompany you (first time with a plan on patreon), so far I haven't regretted it, I just hope it doesn't overwhelm the Your comments in themselves are worth the price, I even wanted to praise you more but I'm not very good with words, have a great weekend Oh and I'm looking forward to the next episodes, I watched it dubbed in my language, it's really cool to see the development, the worldbuilding and my friends and I tried to make the dungeon meshi characters in Baldurs Gate 3, it was interesting

Let’s talk about food! So our cabbage recipe is of course a stir fry! I do make it at home. We usually buy Taiwanese cabbage, but Napa or any other cabbage will work. Ingredients: Cabbage- use half a head, it will cook down. Hand tear or cut in bite sized pieces. 2-3 cloves garlic minced 1 tsp (or to taste) Rice vinegar or if you can get it, Black Vinegar! ( a bit different taste) 1 tsp sugar and salt to taste (optional: also a pinch of MSG) Optional ingredients: Chinese sausage or….. bacon! (Cut up in bite sized pieces) In large hot pan or wok, add oil and either cook sausage or bacon and remove when fully cooked. If vegan, you can skip the sausage or bacon. Add garlic ( be careful not to burn it). Add cut up cabbage to hot oil with garlic and stir fry on high, try not to crowd pan. Add vinegar, salt and sugar then add back sausage or bacon. Done! This should be done fast! Cabbage should be wilted. It should be sweet and sour and smoky from the sausage. Enjoy! If you want a kick, add chili flakes when you add garlic to oil. We just can’t get the stove top hot enough to get a good wok hei which adds to the flavor of stir fry and you need a super hot wok to achieve this. First, we have a very old electric stove, and we don’t own a wok! 😅 Sometimes people will get a special gas stove to use with a wok that will help achieve wok hei. This is one reason stir fry in a restaurant tastes sooooo much better. They can get the wok hot enough to do this! My stir fry tends to be a bit flat. But it’s still good! Wok hei and how to! https://youtu.be/X6JE7W8Z6Hs?si=ng5cGevE1JgHkyfR Bread, I have made bread by hand. I usually do it the long way around with a non knead method that takes about a day or better to do. Since then, my mom has given me a bread machine and in the past few weeks, I have been making sooooo much bread! It’s a lot easier to do with this machine! So mine was free.. I would definitely try to find a used one. Google the manual that will go with your new bread machine and start baking! It’s soooooo fun! Also watch a lot of videos on YouTube about different recipes. I can make pizza dough as well, I haven’t yet but I will! Colonizers: I just recently watched a documentary about Nutmeg and its dark history. I watched this during lunch at work and, well, I was a mess! It’s such a good documentary! It’s a long, at almost 2 hours so, make time for it! Our food is messy business to be sure. So here is the link: https://youtu.be/9mqerkFWjKU?si=Ws_FnYKiWMk6lMdz Enjoyed the reaction, yes, baby orc is adorbs! I want to put them in my pocket! Honestly, that onion trick was genius! Omg! Cow tongue is wonderful! We are having it tomorrow as a matter of fact. Husband is going to the local tortilla factory tomorrow for tamales and lengua!
