DORORO: Episode 8 FULL LENGTH Reaction!?

 *SACRIFICIAL HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

Hyakkimaru and Dororo are still recovering from the loss of Mio, as we run into an eccentric orphan raised in the woods - Saru - who is trying to save his sister from being sacrificed! This episode was full of twists, turns, and some olfactory fun, as per the Dororo standard!

DORORO: Episode 8 FULL LENGTH Reaction!?

Comments

That makes sense in the 1969 version to have Hyakkimaru more straight forward in his speech. I do love that we get Hyakkimaru’s first words here, though, be Dororo! Ooohhh, thank you for the recommendation for the reading! And yesss, that’s interesting for Saru - I hope he’ll be accepted, but that idea about sacrifice – oooohhh, definitely going to bring that back up in a future episode! We’ll accept anime physics this week, too! 😛 Also, yessss Episode 9 is one of my favorites in the series so far, but these lighter episodes were really needed after Mio’s death; I’ll definitely cherish them. Thank you for the comment and kind words!

Another straight forward and heart warming episode! In that 1969 episode that you watched, I think for the audience ease in understanding what is going on, had Hyakimaru talking. Just my idea and all I’ll elaborate on that subject. I agree with you though, I like how this anime deals with how he doesn’t have a voice at first. Him saying Dororo’s name is definitely a turning point! I was going to bring this up at some point and I could bring it up in any of these episodes, so an episode about sacrifice is as good as any. This anime always reminded me of the short story called “The One Who Walks Away from Omelas” by Ursula K LaGuin. I won’t spoil it for you, a very short read, maybe an hour. Hahaha! I’m adding to your tbr list! For the sister to volunteer is truly selfless, even when the village is cruel to Saru. Did they (or anyone) deserve the safety a sacrifice would secure? Kinda makes me wonder how well he will be accepted into the village. I loved your story of the bull! Funny how an animal can domesticate humans! It’s a two way street! Both of them falling from that height. “ They would have died!” Anime physics for sure! By now, you probably have seen the next episode. So, now you know! 😉 I can’t wait to see your reaction to that episode. Yes, we get back to the story, but I really enjoyed these lighter episodes! Thank you for the reaction as always!
