*FERAL FANGIRLING HEADPHONE WARNINGS - LOTS O' SCREAMING!*

Y'all, there is SO much to talk about with these last two episodes of the second season and I am GAGGING and FANGIRLING and yelling all over the place! The dynamics, the suspense, the ships are on the mooooove!

Plus, WHAT A TEASE for season 3! I have so many questions, but I want no answers until the show gives them to us next season!

In the meantime, there will still be more Blue Lock content to come in 2025 while we wait for Season 3, but I am SO hyped from this season finale! Viva la Blue Lock!

BLUE LOCK Season 2: Episodes 13-14 SEASON FINALE FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

Sorry it took SO long to get back to you, with the power out and all - but thank you for the comment and kind words! I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed the reactions! The fangirling, shipping, and hype of this series makes it one of my favorites to watch and react to! RyuSae was INSANE and i ship it so hard - I can’t believe how my views of Ryusei have changed so dramatically from the end of season 1 - I was waiting for the BL system to kick him out but OH, did this series have plans for him I could not have foreseen! Bachira took a little bit of a back seat, but I was proud of him this season! And ooh, the Gin Aryu ship I did NOT see coming, but I love it so much! AHAHAHAHA - the comparison of Knives to Shidou - should we compare Sae to Knives? 😛But I see what you mean! Maybe Sae is Shidou’s Legato? 😛 Not the best comparison. But any time we can compare to Trigun, I welcome it! 😀 Thank you for the links to the OST - I will have to give them some listening to! The orchestra with Rin and Sae any time they were on screen was so over the top, dramatic, and FITTING for them; I just loved the sound design of this season! Oh, I’m glad I don’t engage with fandoms most of the time, because they tend to get too uppity and whiny and just don’t sit back and enjoy the madness and fun of this series! I can’t wait to get into the dub when it comes out! I want it to be the MOST unhinged! Fingers crossed for you (and me) with it! Happy New Year! I can’t wait to get more BL content in 2025 and YES! Speaking of TRIGUN - BAROU AND PEACE! <3

Sorry it took SO long to get back to you, with the power out and all - but thank you for the comment and kind words! I’m so glad you enjoyed the reactions - I just LOVE fangirling and theorizing with this series! The fact that Rin finally calls Sae his brother again and then Sae destroys and stomps over him - DAMN. That is COLD. These brothers are SO DRAMATIC I swear, but I love it about them. That is a great reference to Dororo, though! Ooohhh, honestly, I would say Reo x Nagi and Sae x Shidou are OTP’s for me! I love RinSagi as well, but those other two are staples at this point, but I’m rooting for more Rin X Isagi moments in Season 3! As for my favorite character? Hmmm, there are SO many good ones in the show! I would say my top 5 (in no particular order are): Isagi, Rin, Reo, Hiori, and Ryusei – though I would give Sae honorable mention for how delicious the conflict with him and the other characters are. I just love the dynamic between all of them - Ryusei surprises me the most, because I left Season 1 thinking I would HATE him, and this season took all of my expectations of him and shattered them within the first episode, so…that’s fun! It makes me really excited to see what will happen with the others in the next season! Cheers to the hiatus and any BL content we can get between then! ;) <3

Sorry it took SO long to get back to you, with the power out and all - but thank you for the comment and kind words! Rin’s intensity and this episode set were INSANE! I was riveted the entire way through! I agree, while I would have been “okay” with a week in between, having the episodes back to back REALLY worked in the show’s favor! The hype, the animation, the humor - it was ALL set up and executed perfectly! I love how Isagi took something from Rin in season 1 and the lessons from Hiori in Season 2 and applied it throughout this episode! So good! Ego getting to see this match unfold and feeling his passion - loved it! Even if it was a tiny fist clenched! I definitely want to see more Ego in the future and more Aiku and Isagi as well! We need closure with them! I have a feeling maybe Season 3 will deal with the aftermath with the coaches and staff at the start? We shall see! Rin’s growth and being the maniac he is was wild! And Isagi’s name chanted?! CHILLS! I don’t know if that’s Kunigami at the end, but I have QUESTIONS! Maybe the show was moving towards Tabito and Eita being with Hiori because they wanted to free up Chigiri for his boyfriend to return, hahaha! We shall see! I mean, Isagi and Rin are playing a kinky game at this point of enemies-to-friends-to-enemies-to-lovers! 😛 Maybe Aiku as the “cop” can intervene? ;) I have so many questions for the next season but I cannot wait to see how it all plays out! Especially on the world stage as well! And ahhh, thank you so much for the comment, kind words, and support! I am SO excited to eventually get to the light novels later this spring, hopefully, and the extra content - the hiatus will hurt, but I’m overall excited!

Sorry it took SO long to get back to you, with the power out and all - but thank you for the comment and kind words! Seriously, these episodes were AMAZING! I was so thrilled with this double-set! I am obsessed with the brother act this series gives us with Rin and Sae (though I know you loathe Sae) and how their dynamic works! But yes, NOOOO power of friendship, here! This ain’t My Little Ponies, to be CERTAIN. I was not ready for the series to go full on horror anime in the final hour of this match, but it works SO WELL. And yes, Kinky Rin? We like to see it! Rin’s VA has done roles like this where he’s raspy and murderous, so it is VERY fitting they got him for Rin! But YES…the question is, can Isagi match the freak now? SEASON 3 HYPE hahahaha! I really loved the animation and direction these episodes had - the humor, the horror, the action - the hype - it all flowed so well (pun intended). I don’t mind the Sae hate, but I personally appreciate what the show uses him for - he’s an asshole, ABSOLUTELY, but he’s well-written as a character we “love to loathe.” I felt bad for Rin, honestly, but the humor was at how INSANE that scene was and how it subverted what I thought was going to happen - and honestly, it’s Blue Lock. These characters are going to be pushed to the extreme - this show has the balls to do it, and I love it for it. 😛Now the wait until I can get to the light novels!

This has been such a stellar set of reactions & discussions! Loved them! 🥰 BL continues to bring me joy like no other. All the speculation, math attempts, shipping, more shipping, coaching discussions, etc, etc, have been such a delight this season. 🥰 Some specific moments I loved throughout the season: I absolutely see the Moran-Tabito similarity; something blue to wear for each episode 💙; episode 5 was rightfully utter insanity and potentially one of the most unhinged reactions ever 😂 (I’d been waiting for that one for so long); overall RyuSae insanity is very much appreciated; even though he was not the start of the season (that goes to Shidou, in my eyes) Bestest Boi Bachira still had moments to shine; definitely on board with Gin/Aryu – they’re the kind of ship I love where the "participants" will never be having the same conversation but will still be completely in sync. 😂 I knew you’d come around when it comes to Shidou (post S1E24) – and love that it did not take very long at all! He is my 2nd absolute love of BL (after Bachira, of course) – to me they are both about joy. 🥰 Again, maybe one day I’ll stop comparing things to Trigun – but not this day! I wanted to bring in a comparison to Stampede!Knives. We’ve talked a lot about the way Knives is reframed in Stampede around domination and procreation – I think it is primarily about ‘conquest’ as opposed to Shidou’s similar visual metaphors being about ‘legacy.’ Shidou’s selfishness and desire to “leave his mark” is quite self-directed – which is why it allows him to find joy through others as well as ultimately himself. Knives’ path to his version of joy/conquest is one where oppression is a pre-requisite. It is interesting to think back to themes of S1 (which to me is about changing patterns of thinking and how difficult this is for all of us). So S2 I see as more about those internal patterns having effects externally, how they are expressed in ways which impact others around us. And I will take this Knives vs Shidou comparison to a more unhinged place briefly 🤣, and that is: colonialism (Knives) vs repatriation (Shidou) – the ultimate end points of their approaches to conquest and legacy. I think the discussion from an earlier episode – creation & destruction – is also another version of this. Also, I now consume BL on an entirely allegorical level, nothing sport-centred comes into it at all for me. Love how different the OST has been this season, Jun Murayama was back as the composer and introduced so much new instrumentation. Some highlights below (no spoiler static covers): Shidou’s Big Bang theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xw7uaSlcqlg Barou’s goal theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wC6zALmpijQ Sae vs Everyone theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cW4v57ZPv4E U-20 vs Blue Lock theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5t9dnY8hxY – this one is the funniest to me, it sounds like something you’d hear at the Olympics – pure, hopeful, inoffensive… but they are all hostile gremlins inside. Thank you also more generally for being a consistent beacon of joy for BL! 🥰 Frankly, I have had to disengage from the BL fandom entirely – it has become whiny and joyless. Now as a New Year’s treat I am going to go directly into binging the entirety of the dub for this season and probably perish from how unhinged I expect it to be! 😂 Wish me luck. Happy New Year! 🎉 Cannot wait for more BL joy to share with you in 2025. 💙 Barou and peace! 🫶

Hi Romania ! Popping in to say I thoroughly enjoyed your reactions to Blue Lock 2! Your fangirling, your theorizing, your excitement... made for a very enjoyable watch! Also, don't know if you noticed, but when Rin was little he always called Sae "nii-chan"; however, once they had their confrontation after Sae came back from overseas and told him he no longer wanted to be used as his reason for playing soccer/football, Rin started calling him "aniki", which is a more neutral way of calling someone an older brother, and doesn't necessarily entail a blood relation (since you watch Dororo, it's the way Dororo refers to Hyakkimaru, for instance)! In this last episode, when Sae approached him and started by saying he was mistaken, Rin called Sae "nii-chan" again (which I think shows that deep down he was still looking for his brother's approval, at least up to that point)... and then Sae went and destroyed, stomped on and shattered all his hopes in a single sentence :') How dramatic can you be, you Itoshi brothers?! By the way, out of curiosity, who's your favorite ship out of Nagi x Reo / Shidou x Sae / Rin x Isagi, so far ? And who's your favorite character ? Have a good day!

And that's how Rin chipped all his teeth XD This episode was amazing, and Rin's intensity was awesome to see. Having the two episode finale was such a good idea because, I'll be honest, I got so frustrated with episode 13 *lol* It was just, seeing Rin be so in his head, acting like a petty little brother but nor his own person, bringing himself down, it was frustrating! I finished that episode and took a break before watching episode 14. Episode 14, though, was everything I wanted. I felt the hype, and I, as well, had tears in my eyes after Isagi finally managed to score his goal; especially after seeing the "luck" puzzle piece being the one that defined the moment. I mentioned in the previous episode how seeing Isagi so in his head was frustrating me, I wanted him to make use of the lessons he had learned, specially the one Hiori taught him about just reacting and not thinking so much; so, seeing him use those lessons, even if it was a different one, and get out of his head was wonderful. And I do think that he just reacted, let his body do and didn't overthink the whole move, when he finally got the ball; he immediately went for the goal, didn't hesitate for even a second, even if it was luck that got him in the right spot, if he had overthought it he would have failed. It was super nice to see it all come back full-circle. Being in Ego's position is something I can't imagine. I think he was so amped up at the end of the match because he was seeing, for the first time in real time, his dream come true, Japan's soccer evolve and be something incredible. Before this match, it had all being between his calculations and under his careful control, but he couldn't control this match anymore, and that was exactly what he had been looking for since the beginning. Good for him, to be honest. Yeah, not seeing the Aiku/Isagi confrontation before the end of the game bummed me out a good deal; I hope we do get it in the future, because it will be one crazy face-off. Another thing I really wanted to see was the reaction of the U-20's coach and his boss, we see the boss stricken with the loss, but I was expecting a more murderous reaction... something more along the lines of Rin's reaction at Isagi overshadowing him. Rin was crazy once he finally entered the flow, but I'm glad he finally shed the idea that he is only Sae's little brother, and played as himself by the end of it all. He's petty as heck, but it works much better when he is not trying to imitate his brother. The whole stadium chanting Isagi's name was quite the feeling. WAS THAT KUNIGAMI AT THE END?!?!?!?! Ego, what are we doing?! I'm not over the post-credit scenes, none of them, yet. Is it just normal to threaten to kill your teammate/soulmate and not have the cops called on you? Lol. And what is this that Ego is doing? Seems like he was never playing even in the same field as the U-20 managers and like he always had an exit strategy, which is super cool but super mysterious. Rin losing to Isagi that final goal is because Rin ran out of luck when he didn't get a concussion when Ryusei kicked him in the head XD Alright, but more seriously, Sae warns Rin to not use all his luck in simple, small things, but for soccer, and while I'm not sure how Rin could have controlled that, I do think that warning wasn't there just to fill space in the episode. Rin ran out of luck right at the end of the game after wasting it, alongside his energy, in his single-minded focus on besting Sae, which he does, and not on being the best in the game; and Isagi had being working all game to create his, and be the star of the game. Overall, this season was a good way to bring together this arc. All the characters have successfully become egoists/monsters that want nothing more than to score goals, while also, somehow, being able to play together without sacrificing one or the other; the lessons have being learned, the foundation is there, now we need to make it all a reality, don't we? While this game had a lot of internal stakes and was a perfect testing ground, it was also a game that for the larger public meant little, after all it was only an exhibition game. Now, BL is recognized, and I would think respected, now it can start working on becoming the best in the world, and bringing Japan's soccer to the level of the best of the world. And that, makes me feel very satisfied with this season, even if the poor animation was hard to stomach at times. P.S. Thank you for another amazing set of reactions, I truly could never enjoy BL half as much without your passion and understanding of it. I'm really looking forward to the Light Novels and the extra content!

This two episodes are honestly peak, they really saved everything for this, they did the manga justice. Ep 13 Rin started his development and did 2 crucial saves. While I agree the mindset of he needs to keep up to Sae isn't good for him in long run, it was ideal and necessary at that point, since he was the only one that could stop leveled up Sae (also everyone else is focusing on Sae too). Rin's thought process and plays were the only thing that kept us in the game. He wanted to score but he knew that he had to defend, showing that he did prioritize team's victory overall, which I think it's a nice detail for him, he did start to get attached to the team a bit and cares about them. However, this is blue lock, we don't do power of friendship here, the switch up between "I am not alone" and "I will kill all" was so peak. I really think the anime catches Rin's horror eerie creepy vibes, he was genuinely scary. He drawing the strong point out of the enemy and destroy them with it, demonstrate pure supremacy and traumatized them, I would say it's very kinky and very Rin. The whole ost was creepy and I want to give praise to Rin's VA, Rin sounds like he was crazy and murderous and somehow aroused, it's so peak. (Isagi could match his freak before but can he now?) the second half of this episode is absolute cinema, when the ratio changed the black bar dropped I knew they were cooking, the whole animation was so peak and fluid. Isagi's goal was a perfect accumulation of what he learned in 2 seasons. Spatial awareness, direct shot, Luck, flow state, everything combined together made the last goal, the storytelling and the writing was so satisfying. The Rinsagi last convo was also sad, Isagi didn't know Sae talked to Rin and made Rin crashed out, he really thought they did it together. Im sure if Sae didnt ruin things, Rin wouldnt be that murderous towards Isagi and they might have a way better relationship, since Rin was already open up a bit... Sae hating incoming ignore if you don't like it: Nah Sae is just pure asshole and honestly a horrible human being, the night snow backstory I can give a a slight benefit of doubt that you just come back from Spain, tired and Rin wasnt that understanding so you hurt him bad. This time Rin wasnt even doing anything, and you still say stuff to him like that in match. Bro if you want Rin to play himself just fking say it what's stopping from talking properly, you expect other ppl mind reading you? Even after throwing the game (he should pass the ball bro why tf are you dribbling in front of your own goal) and losing the dual, you still come and give no acknowledgement or admit defeat, but instead giving Rin more trauma. No "he is just giving Isagi compliment and being honest" shit. First, Rin played way better the whole match and win a dual against Sae, saying Isagi played better is dishonest. Second, if Sae really wanted to compliment Isagi why would he deliberately go to Rin and tell him, instead of talking to Isagi? He is just being a grade S asshole and wanted to hurt him. Rin was way better than me if I was in that situation I would have thrown hands. I was extra sad seeing everyone laughing at Rin, my poor baby.
