Revolutionary Girl Utena: Episode 27 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

*METAPHORICALLY EGGY HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

Oh, it's just another Nanami episode, right? WRONG! This week, we get metaphors for women's reproduction, as Nanami's curse of being punished by animals for her sins continues!

This time, though...IS it a regular ol' animal she's messing with? And what's up with Akio? This will surely lead us to only happy and peaceful times in future episodes...

Revolutionary Girl Utena: Episode 27 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

I feel any episode involving Nanami at this point is just going to be WILD. But yeah, what a trip! And yeah, the moment the metaphors start to sink in!! But yeah, hello Sex Ed! And ahhahaha, really, AC/DC would be so welcome in this show! 😛 And yes, Blue Lock is…insane is a good word for it, but in a good way. That IS a fair point about ChuChu in that I’m not sure he’d “lower” himself to being ChuChu. That’s a fair point. I guess we’ll see where the story takes us with that! Especially Saionji kicking him…but maybe that’s why they make Saionji suffer. Hm. And oooh, the comparison of Nanami and Madoke is interesting! Honestly, though, the LAST THING we need in this world is Kyubey and Akio in the same universe. Nope. Nada. No way. NIGHTMARE UNLOCKED. Although, duelists with “witch forms” - especially Nanami, or DARE Juri’s - would be a terrifyingly cool concept! I’m just here for when we get to horses and hopefully Utena and Anthy taking those jousting rods through Akio–what? I mean…and yeah, if that OP jump scare EVER happens, I will shriek, so guard your ears! Thank you so much for the kind words and comment! This show is so fun and it makes our brains do a workout in the best way!

Touga’s lines just took me out this episode! Also, that TikTok made my MONTH. I cannot y’all…I cannot….that is TOUGA TO A “T” - I’m still not over it and I’ve watched it twice already. Oohh, and the Weeping Angels comparison with Akio is so perfect! Yes, I don’t like him on screen, but him “absent?” Not to be trusted, FOR SURE! Thank you for the comment and the really-needed laugh today!

Maybe! And what I wrote about Saionji complaining Chu Chu always gets in his way of Anthy, that fits too if Saionji knew Chu Chu was just a disguise and was saying that to Akio, who does seem to control Anthy, even beyond whoever she's engaged to from the duels.

"I wonder if Akio would ever let himself be kicked across the room by anyone, let alone Saionji" Maybe that's why Saionji keeps getting clowned on all the time, it's all Akio getting back at him, similar to the Nanami animal situation.

Coyotes showing up during a Nanami episode? That could spell trouble... Touga saying "you have to follow God's heteronormative will no matter how PSYCHOLOGICALLY FULFILLING the alternative is" is both hilarious and the least straight way to live a straight life... Also sometimes the algorithms keep too close of an eye to what we are watching; so I came across this just today, it feels very Touga appropriate: https://www.reddit.com/r/TikTokCringe/comments/1hu8ijs/my_husbands_not_gay_he_just_struggles_with_ssa/ Your description of Akio near the end made me think he's like those weeping angels or SCP-173, it's not fun having to keep an eye on them, but it's even worse if you don't... Likewise, sucks when he's on screen but sucks even worse when you don't know what he's up to.

Nanami's Egg... there's no way a title like that wasn't going to be batshit crazy. And while maybe it wasn't as bizarre as one could imagine, albeit it pretty close, it's still in the running for craziest episodes for sure! The episode went there, the discussion went there, and I'm there for it as well, I could almost see my daughter's understanding change when it she went from humans don't lay eggs, that cat killer is crazy of course she didn't lay an egg to, what are we watching?! Hahaha. At least the show is educational if nothing else! Where were AC/DC when Jury and Nanami were discussing her ball? Nanami getting absolutely pounded in the face by the soccer ball from Utena felt strangely nostalgic hahaha! So wrong, but so right. Haven't seen Blue Lock yet, but it's on the list, always nice to get to put to use what other shows teach! It is interesting to consider Chu Chu being a bigger part in the story - and why not, but I wonder if Akio would ever let himself be kicked across the room by anyone, let alone Saionji - as he does back toward the beginning when he complains Chu Chu is always getting in his way of Anthy. One interesting comparison that came to mind when you were talking about Nanami's parents missing, is in comparison to Madoka - where her parents are very much present, both her mother showing her to pursue her career goals and her father instilling in her his caring nature, and then by the end of the series we see Madoka's parents again, but this time we go from her getting advice from her mother to her asking her mother to believe in her, to trust her to handle herself in a dangerous situation, alone. Omg, just imagine Nanami meeting Kyubey, and becoming a magical girl. What a nightmare that would make! Truly, haha, Nanami's witch form would be something maybe even up to walpurgisnacht / walrus levels of crazy! Still have no clue where we're going from here, one of these episodes we are getting some flying horses from the OP though! If they ever do an OP jump scare episode I can only hope you're not mid-drink! Always enjoy hearing all the comments you highlight at the beginning and learning a little extra lore / director's commentary, I feel like I get one of the best understandings of a show here compared to what I get out of watching alone.
