I love that your family has…family friendly mushroom hunting! Hahaha!! And yes, the images in the OP in the hands all linking together!! I love the mirror in this story and how it’s used! Gaoshun is really toeing around the edge with it! Also, Hongmian looking for a man and protecting MaoMao - woman can multitask! Agree on her good taste! And probably good that Jinshi did NOT see MaoMao’s happy face at the Bezoar! And yessss, these royal families and their over the top rituals! Artistic liberties were TAKEN! And Gaoshun and MaoMao being on the same wavelength at the end was great! That is interesting about the 5’2” being average for height! My BFF and you are about the same height so I’ve heard similar from her as well! This series gets me into Sherlock mode, which I love! Thank you for the comment and kind words! And him drinking it all up has an entirely different meaning. Really love getting the Madam's backstory explained, I was so happy with myself for guessing correctly that it was going to happen even though it's the most obvious thing haha! Would not have minded if we saw more of her interacting with Jinshi or the Emperor, she's so blunt and vulgar, but she knows money and I'm sure could reign it in accordingly! Also really enjoyed seeing Maomao coming up with the idea to get Jinshi back in makeup again, the question of will any wars be fought over lady Jinshi to be answered next week perhaps!

2025-02-06 01:01:56 +0000 UTCI'd definitely agree that Jinshi comes across as only caring about one person having children (specifically a live male heir) and that's his brother/father the Emperor 😆 I blame my paternal Granda for me just accepting foraging for mushrooms as just that and not anything NSFW like you, or for purposes like Eatchu mentioned 😂 My Granda in the autumn would be out at least once a week in various forests and fields around our town, and bringing them home for my Nanny to cook them with dinner throughout the week. I really love that image in the Opening with all the items in the hand. It's a clever way of linking to various episodes so far without giving any spoilers for specific scenes that might be to come. It feels strange for a mirror to be considered such an expensive item, but understandable for one of such high quality at a time when mirrors of polished metal, typically bronze, would have been the more commonplace type in China in this period of time. Also we gotta love entrepreneur Maomao. Girl looks at a beautiful item and considers the financial gain you could get from such a thing. Love that part of her character. Lady Hongniang is looking out for Maomao's reputation (how scandalous to be in a room alone with a man, even if he is a "eunuch"), but she's also out here looking for a man for herself 😆 And to consider Gaoshun definitely shows she's got good taste! The way Gaoshun words his question and responses to Maomao regarding the two sisters definitely makes you squint your eyes at what he hasn't said. I do have to say though that you figured out their use of a mirror very quickly! Jinshi may have combusted in front of Maomao and Hongniang if he'd seen her react with such delight 🤣 Once again the way things are phrased can make it a little confusing. It took me a little bit to realise that the brothel owner danced for the current emperor's grandfather/Jinshi's great-grandfather. Also the suddenly deciding to make a place the capital does make me think to when they changed the capital of Japan from Kyoto to Tokyo during the Meiji Restoration. Romania: That is extremely tedious. Yeah some of the things I've read about being done for nobles and royalty is honestly nuts. Picking of insects though doesn't seem too crazy, but does make me feel for the people having to do such work in the lead up to the event. A painting created based off of someone else's memories? Oh yeah artistic liberties weren't taken with that at all 🙄🤣 I do love how quick Gaoshun was to figure out where Maomao's thoughts went as to who their dancer could be 😆 5ft 8 is probably not that tall for a woman in the US but in a lot of Asian countries it would be, especially in the past. Nowadays the average height for women in China is around 5 ft 2 (or 158 cm). Anthropological studies I believe show that height at being an inch shorter. Not as big of a jump as we've had here in Northern Ireland (average is now 5ft 5 but 100 years ago it was around 5ft), but an inch can still make a difference as I well know 🤣 (I'm one inch away from having made it to 5ft 🥲) Interesting conjectures regarding Consort Loulan and Shisui. You went full-on Sherlock mode with analysing that scene of Consort Loulan with the Emperor and Shisui and the lunar moth.
