If you told me that we would have an episode with maps, bug demons, and a pair of very mysterious, bizarre ghosts all at once? I would have not believed it - but here we are! This was a crazy episode and I can't believe that it's not a one and done! Let's talk about this episode!

Biwamaru's continuing to peace out after dropping a few lines never fails to make me laugh. Honestly makes me think of the Sailor Moon meme with Tuxedo Mask 🤣 There’s definitely a lot that Dororo would have to keep track of, but if her parents were desperate, then what could they do? And yeah, if there are demons…I guess we can have magic tattoos as well! Yes, Moomin noted that with the sleeping drugs as well! And hahahaha, the Tuxedo mask meme with Biwamaru is PERFECT! It would be nice to know what Hyakkimaru is thinking and his MO; hopefully we’ll get more on that before the end of the season! The spirited away vibes this episode were THERE! And yeah, bugs that size? Nopity Nopity! I was surprised they fooled us with no “Part 1” only for it to be a two-parter as well! That’s cool about your sister having that tattoo! Hahahah, Dororo on children’s Tylenol for a while is hilarious! I don’t know if the invisible ink was around during that time, but hey - we’re in a world fo demons, so…should I be making that big a deal about it! 😛 Hahaha!! My parents both have several tattoos, but I’m too indecisive for one…well, that and phobic with needles. 😀 The baby ghost is kind of creepy but has a “Spirited Away” or “Natsume” vibe to it, so I kind of love the design! Butterflies and moths are gorgeous - that’s insanely cool that you all raised them as kids! I have always been afraid of how delicate they are once they metamorphize, but that’s so neat about having silk worms as school projects growing up! Also, uhm, the web worms? That is LEGITIMATELY terrifying!! And yes, the two parter is here! Thank you so much for the comment and kind words!

It shows that for the sake of her child she'd be willing to forget the ideals she's been fighting for alongside her husband. Feels like a bit of mirroring with Daigo, only for the sake of power and his people he willingly sacrificed his child. Completely agree with you on the elaborate nature of both Ojiya and Dororo's maps. Considering how young Dororo seems to have been when Ojiya died, I would also question how she could remember the detail of such a map. The baby (which Dororo calls a youkai) really does look like the baby from Spirited Away, just deformed. I believe it's saying "manma/まんま" which is the commonly used word for baby food in Japanese. Right there with you on the big nope with the giant caterpillar and moth. I don't mind bugs too much, but that size? And carnivorous ones? Hell no! I did like the detail though of Dororo not being able to tell if Hyakkimaru was awake or not, and Hyakkimaru using that to his advantage when attacking their attacker. This one being a two-parter was a shock for me. Especially because before when we had a two-parter the title said Part 1 😅 Dororo and Ojiya not having any complications from the marking is right up there with the demons existence on realistic aspects of this show 🤣 As you say, considering their life on the road at the time they'd have had a lack of proper nutrition and wouldn't have been able to keep the brand clean. Both things that in reality could result in any number of issues including death due to infection, but also the design not retaining the proper shape. And the design potentially changing as Dororo grows and gets bigger. I'm also unsure about the method used to create Dororo's markings (Ojiya's were visible without heat so I believe hers were done differently). Nowadays you can get invisible tattoos or thermographic tattoos that change colour and become visible under UV light or an increase in body temperature. But definitely not sure on how such a feat could be done in this time period, or by wandering peasants. As for Dororo not remembering, there is the possibility of Ojiya and Hibukuro giving Dororo some type of sleeping agent (potentially gotten from flowers, plants, or fungi along their journey) so as Dororo didn't feel them marking her and ensure she'd be completely still whilst the marking was done. I can understand, especially after him speaking about how killing a few demons isn't going to make much of a change to the world, but it shows what a grey area it is for wanting Hyakkimaru to get back what was stolen versus the everyday people such actions will affect. Also adds to how we don't know what's going on in Hyakkimaru's head on if he just wants to kill demons because he wants his body back, if there's something that pulls him to kill demons (as he killed a couple when he still lived with Jukai, and at least one while with Dororo, that didn't grant him a body part in return), or if he wants to help people in a way he can (just like Jukai wanted to help people in a way he could, and now helps the dead instead). Seiyuu this episode: Sabame is voiced by Yusa Kouji. He's also the seiyuu for Ichimaru Gin from Bleach; Kamuro Shinji from Mob Psycho; Johann from Vanitas no Karte; Kyouka's father from Bungou Stray Dogs; and Lau from Black Butler. The youkai baby's seiyuu is Ootani Ikue, and she's also voiced Konohamaru from Naruto; Müller Sausage Shop Vendor from Monster; Chopper from One Piece; and Pikachu from Pokemon.

2025-02-14 16:42:22 +0000 UTCSo I propose that the reason Dororo didn’t remember the tattoo being applied was due to drugging her. First, to anesthetize Dororo because it’s painful. Second, to not traumatize her. Third, keep it a secret from a chatty child until they could understand it. So anesthesia it is! What they gave her to put her to sleep? Who knows! I’m sure there were some mild sedatives used in Japan at that time. Does it change with temperature? I’m sure there is some kind of a reaction as well. I don’t have any tattoos. My sister on the other hand has a full back tattoo of the four elements and an Earth goddess. It’s done in the style of art nouveau. I joke with her and call it Avatar! Hahahah it’s actually really good. She likes to garden and spend lots of time out in nature hence the subject matter. She does not have any invisible tattoos. I say all this to point out that a full back tattoo takes a looooooooong time to do well! It took my sister months! Then there is the healing…. It’s not, not uncomfortable! Maybe Dororo was on children’s Tylenol for a while. Plus her back is small compared to her mother’s back. Rainbow ghosts 🌈 . I’m here for it! Yeah, that story is sus! His eyes give him away. The story doesn’t make sense at all! I love the baby ghost! Even if it’s creepy looking, it is so innocent in behavior, it just wants to be taken care of. 🥹 I actually love moths and butterflies. Both Husband and I used to take care of and raise them when we were kids. I would raise monarch butterflies and I’ve raised swallowtail butterflies as an adult. Husband would raise silk worms! I know here in the states, raising bugs is not a common childhood activity, although it is an activity. In Taiwan where he grew up, every one raised silk worms! It would be a class project. Sounds fun to do! I think meat eating caterpillars is terrifying! Occasionally we have infestations of “web worms” that denude the trees in our area.
