PING PONG The Animation: Episode 7 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

I just cannot get over how good Ping Pong is - I will continue to sing it praises up throughout the monthly update videos, haha!! I LOVE the idea of Peco training - I can’t believe this series is making me care about Peco, hahaha!! I would not have expected that at the start of this series! I at least DO think that Smile is training hard, though, so we can’t discount him for that - but there is a hesitance there, sure – maybe because he doesn’t feel challenged? I do LOVE that expression Smile has once he realizes the coach waited on him and wants to work with him! At least Ota bought the balls? He’s passive about it, but he hasn’t given up on Smile, which is good I suppose! 😛 Kong is such a trooper! He is precious and I love him and his team. OH, the KAZAMA TEA is piping hot, isn’t it?! I at least thought that Yurie felt somewhat happy with Sanada? I’m not saying she’s going to date him (though I’d like that for them) but she was complaining about how Kazama doesn’t pay her any attention (or that anyone does) and then in walks Sanada giving her attention - and we see her do the loops at the end - so maybe she felt happier? And yeahhhh, Ryu’s son having Jo as a hero instead of his dad is SOMETHING. It’s WILD. I wonder how that will tie into all the matches we are about to have?! I just love the DRAMA this show is giving us and I can’t wait to see it unfold! Thank you for the comment!!

I'll never get tired to say just how insanely good this show is, and episodes like this one just serve as a remainder of it, and a reinforcement. Peco actually training, and Obaba making him sweet and testing his commitment was probably my favorite scene of the episode... I think I gravitate more towards Peco, well, when Peco is working and putting in the work, than I do Smile XD I know that having Peco run up the steps serve to rebuild his stamina, because without it there was no way he could ever properly train, but I love how it also doubled as a test for his resolve and to see if he would quit because it was hard and he wasn't even touching ping pong paddles. There's also the way that at the beginning of his training Peco is so resistant to accept Obaba's "love" but by the end of the episode, he's fully embraced it and is feeding the game himself. Then we have the contrast with Smile, who is still sort of reluctant to fully engage... though, that might just have been because Koizumi himself was hesitant to fully commit, as we come to realize; because once Smile saw how much he cared for him, that awed expression he has at the gym, is one that blew me away and made me feel so much for him. Oh, I hadn't catched that it was the ping pong balls that Oota was gifted and not the shoes. Gosh, I want to defend him so much, because I appreciate how committed he is to his family's business, but he's not giving me much to work with here XD At least his never being a jerk to Smile? Well, not recently, i guess. Kong being given the training robot because he doesn't have time to train himself... how is he so precious? I was low-key pissed that we only saw him for a few scenes in this episodes. Gosh, the Kazama family tea was something else entirely. Sanada shooting his shot with Yurie was a little painful to me, because he's out there, confessing to her, and she doesn't even put too much mind to what he's saying, I think. At least, to me, the way she gave him the chocolate was very dismissive and absent-minded. I might be wrong, maybe she was swayed somewhat by his show of care for her, when she's clearly being feeling neglected by Kazama. Ryu's son, Kaoi's coach, saying that Butterfly Jo was his hero over HIS OWN FATHER is quite the statement. Like, sure, he talks benevolently about him to Yurie, he is her grandfather after all, but he doesn't seem to really like him much. And the way that Kaio's founder and Koizumi are tangled together is just crazy. I was not expecting that at all.

I think what was frustrating was if you watched my discussions, you know that I did not think of Peco as the Hero at that time - I had a theory about Smile and the two robots - as a content creator, I ask that people let me discover through the SHOW, not the person commenting. I want the show to reveal those moments to me, so you can see my surprise and so I can have wonder with the series I watch. If people correct me and reveal all the surprises, especially knowing I'm not onto them yet, then what's the point of me reacting to these great series? But thank you! This series is very special to me, so I hope people take that into consideration as I finish this second half! Thanks for the comment and kind words!

I mean, it's not a huge spoiler as it is kinda predictable. But it's part of the risk of being a reactor, I guess. Thank you for your reactions, specially to a series like this that gets very few of them.

Yep, now that I've watched a few episodes ahead, I realize it was a spoiler, which bums me out. I wish folks had let me discover that for myself and I don't have a mod for this series, which has probably been a huge mistake. I can only hope people are cautious and don't spoil the rest of the series for me. But thank you for your consideration and concern; I was really frustrated when I realized that it had been a spoiler, but *sigh* it is what it is, now.

Saying that Peco is the hero is a spoiler!!!! I held myself back from mentioning it before. They do show that Smile was bullied and was locked inside the broom locker and we see that another kid, wearing a mask lets him out. We hear the line that when you need help yell "Enter the hero" 3 times. But it is all kinda unclear as to who the kid that saved Smile is. Eventually it all becomes clear, but it is a spoiler to say that. It might not be a huge spoiler, but it is one to someone who didn't catch it at first.
