DORORO: Episode 16 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

*SEA-WORTHY HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

Dororo and Hyakkimaru are separated, as Itachi returns to make Dororo help him locate her family's hidden treasure, leading to an encounter with a quite dangerous individual!

Dororo is a LITERAL saint, though, and I want to root for them so much this episode, as we see Hyakkimaru alone again for the first time...but maybe not for long?

DORORO: Episode 16 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

Yes, that makes a lot of sense - but yeah, while I can understand Itachi’s motives, that doesn’t necessarily make them morally “okay” or mean I have to like it, haha!! But yeah, the desperation definitely was present in his actions. Glad someone caught that reference! ;) And YESSSS, Shiranui looked so “functional” that when you start to hear him talk more and more, it was like red flags just popping into the air! I love how much Dororo has grown in this series! She’s such a strong character and I love seeing how she’s improved in so many ways! And LOOK, after all the rough SA I’ve had to witness this last year, that scene was the right amount of dark and violating. The ending of this episode definitely made me excited for Hyakkimaru’s reunion, but surprised we were getting a multi-part set of episodes! It was definitely the more “realistic” route, as well! Look at me completely getting the VA’s wrong, hahaha!! But that’s a great point; I jus love Dororo so much! She’s an icon! Thank you for the comment!

Seeing Itachi being suspicious of Hibukuro does help explain a bit more why he was so willing to defect from them and side with the samurai. Even if he decided he was just being paranoid, to me it's enough of a doubt to breed other thoughts in Itachi's mind that led to him making his choice back then. But yeah Itachi doesn't lend much sympathy by willingly desecrating a grave like that. Though I do think it further highlights the desperation some people have for wealth that they're willing to do distasteful and immoral things to attain it. "Where we're going we don't need oars!" 🤣 Love the Back to the Future reference! Gotta love that the moment Shiranui talks about feeding his arm to his shark family Itachi seems to realise that he's crazier than he thought. Maybe even realised that listening to Dororo would have been the better choice. Which can I say that I love how Dororo's sense of danger with normal people has developed as the series has progressed? Really shows that her intuition is growing. I'm so glad things didn't go a darker route when Itachi and his buddies discovered Dororo's sex. I do think the show portrayed the scene quite well in a tasteful manner whilst not backing off on how much of a violation it was. Once again the show giving you more than a one-parter for Hyakkimaru rescuing Dororo without warning you with the title 🤣 But yes, like you said, at least with us seeing the struggle Hyakkimaru is having with walking without a proper prosthetic leg it does make sense for it take longer for Hyakkimaru to find Dororo again. I love the realism aspect behind the reasoning for making their separation be more than one episode. Kijima's shouting and growly undertone are very reminiscent of Okamoto Nobuhiko's screams so I can definitely understand the mix-up for Shiranui's seiyuu. Dororo's mentality to never give up and persevere even in the face of death makes me love her so much but also hurts my heart. She's so young but has already faced so much that has forced her to develop such a mindset. And its also one she got from her parents' continued attempts of survival even in the face of insurmountable strength that was the samurai who drove them from their village originally.

Thank you for the comment and kind words! I am excited for the next episode as well! Sharks are So much fun and there are so many types of them; I enjoyed learning about sharks when I was younger. That is honestly kind of hilarious that the concept of “booping sharks” is a thing! And LAND SHARKS! Thank you for the links hahaha!! I too was glad that the Dororo “reveal” was handled the way that it was - I hadn’t noticed that rock piling part, just the rocks on top, so that makes much more sense! Thank you for clarifying that! I think because Hyakkimaru wasn’t there to make sure Dororo was safe, their jump into danger seemed ESPECIALLY reckless to me! Glad that they were able to get out of that safely, though!

I love sharks! Now these sharks are a bit different looking. They have some pelvic fins that sharks usually have close together. This shark has them set far apart on its side. Reminds me more of a coelacanth. It just looks weird to me from the below. And yes if you bop the shark on the nose, they will become disoriented and back off usually. I was rooting for the sharks! Land shark! https://youtu.be/p_NS2H55dxI?si=P68QfT4Z3wS_Rhsl 🤣 I like a good egg salad sandwich…. https://youtu.be/_f20pv9QBc0?si=GeHY6isr-MajVY1Q I’m glad Dororo’s reveal was handled the way it was. It’s bad enough! It looks like Dororo piled rocks over her mother’s body. That is doable for a small child, but I wouldn’t think they could do it well. In the past, Dororo has been a bit reckless, jumping into danger in order to survive. It didn’t surprise me that she went after the shark with a plan, clever girl! Oh, I can’t wait for the next episode! I can’t wait for your reaction! Till next week, great reaction and thank you!
