The Inter-High Matches are building towards the SemiFinals and it's a free for all, but Smile is sorting himself to the top of his bracket...he just has to face Sanada now!
Meanwhile, Peco's reaching a realization as he climbs up towards the SemiFinal against Kazama...is he going to be able to win and potentially meet Smile in the finale!? This episode was INSANE....LY GOOD, as per usual with Ping Pong!

RIGHT?! This episode was WILD! Peco’s growth has been so wild and such a payoff, but I feel for him being injured and still choosing to play! But the REASON he calls Tsukimoto “Smile?” MY HEART. This series has been a 10/10 for me so far, but this episode was just SO GOOD. Kong and his team melt my heart and are so sweet! Yeah, the obsession with him is so real! And then there is Kazaman who YES - “morbidly obsessed” is the correct term for me and their family drama! He’s just pleasing others and not following his heart. 😢And yes, I agree only Sakuma and Yurie seem to have figured out that he’s faking it. That is a very fair point about Kazama and if he was playing for himself! I love that Sanada kept going until the end against Smile as well! And yes, the show has done us a number having them sit on opposite sides of the court…waiting to see if they are going to play one another in the Finals. Cruel move, show, cruel!! 2025-03-09 04:33:35 +0000 UTCThis episode made me so emotional, in ways that I WASN'T expecting in the least. Honestly, Peco's whole deal with why he will keep playing even though he is hurt gave me chills. He's grown so much since the beginning of the show, when he was selfish and laze, to now be thoughtful of his friend and putting so much work in for him that he blew his knee some. And why he calls Tsukimoto "Smile"? Absolutely precious, had me swallowing down my tears. I think this is my favorite episode so far. Just 10/10. Ahh, I love that! You're so right that it's not usual that we start with a character already at the fence in a show, and then see them grow from there. Peco is so interesting XD That little moment with Kong being just so dang gentle with his team had my heart melting. I did NOT expect him to be the cutest, sweetest when we were first introduced to him, but I am so obssessed with him now. I want only good things to come his way. Kazama is so interesting to me but in an almost morbid way *lol* Like, I gasped so loudly when told Sanada that he plaed "for the team" because, yeah, he is good at just knowing how to please people and becoming the person that will please them the more; and, so far, only Yurie and, funnily enough (and maybe because he was paying such close attention to him because he admired, admires?, him so much) Sakuma have seen through his facade and the roles he puts on to the unhappiness and apathy he seems to truly have settled on with Ping Pong. I think Sakuma meant that if Kazama was truly playing for himself, then he wouldn't be hiding in a bathroom stall, riddled with anxiety; but enjoying his time while playing. Sanada gain a lot of respect from me, because even though he knew that he was going to lose to Smile, he didn't resigned himself to it and still played with everything he had to win. Considering that doubts that the show puts into what Smile will do if he had to play Peco, and Smile's own presedent with Kong, it was a nice way to show just how satisfying it feels to see both parties taking the game seriously. But, even with all the amazing parts of this episode, I just keep circling back to the relationship between Smile and Peco and their bond. It might just be my favorite thing in this show, and it feels like it snuck up on me.
