All roads lead to here! Dororo is tied up, Itachi and his crew are looking for buried treasure, Hyakkimaru is working to rescue Dororo, a boy and his shark demon attacking, and then Tahomaru has shown up...to kill them all!?
There was SO MUCH happening this week but somehow it all worked out -- so let's talk about this reunion!

2025-03-13 15:50:20 +0000 UTCWellll…I think we know where the majority of the budget went to, if that was the case! ;) It’s wild to think the Banana Fish anime was ONLY put out in 2018…wild. Even though that’s been a while ago, now. I definitely think it makes sense with one shark being split into two! And then it recombines! I think both possibilities with the tail swatting could definitely be true as well! Hyakkimaru and Dororo’s reunion is ADORABLE! It was so sweet! And ugh, the head rub?! MY HEART!!! This episode was wild in terms of people dying left and right and all the tension, but then Hyakkimaru and Dororo having this adorable reunion!? SHOW! Haha!! Thank you for the comment!

2025-03-13 13:49:35 +0000 UTCBanana Fish ended airing end of December 2018 and this started airing the beginning of January 2019, so yeah Mappa possibly was animating them around a similar time. You wondered last episode about only one of the sharks being a demon? Technically I think both are meant to be one demon, just Jiromaru takes on his true form after eating his brother, and so in a way the two melding as one become a demonic shark creature. Rewatching with your reaction I thought of two possibilities when Jiromaru swats Shiranui away with his tail: 1) It was just the movement from Jiromaru trying to shake Hyakkimaru off of him and Shiranui just got too close, or 2) Jiromaru knew he was no match for Hyakkimaru and so he didn't want Shiranui to come closer and potentially end up in the line of fire too. The reunion between Hyakkimaru and Dororo is too adorable 🥺 Hyakkimaru telling Dororo that he came for her verbally confirms how much Dororo means to Hyakkimaru. Before this it's possible Dororo could have thought Hyakkimaru didn't care for Dororo as much as she cares for him. And for Hyakkimaru to do the same gesture as he did with Jukai fully cements how Dororo is his family 🥲 This is definitely the episode of jump scares in the form of multiple deaths 😆 The Babe reference for Dororo accidentally knocking down all the Buddha markers made me laugh...also made me want to re-watch Babe 😂 Like I said in the Discord it doesn't absolve him of the bad things he's done, but Itachi using his body to shield Dororo definitely gets him some points. Same for him physically hauling Dororo away when Hyakkimaru and Tahomaru first started fighting. But yeah tears always prick my eyes at Dororo's prayer over Itachi's body for him not to fight Hibukuro when they reunite in the afterlife 😢
