The Apothecary Diaries Season 2: Episode 10 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

That’s an interesting relation to King Henry VIII – oh, King Henry VIII and his wivesssss! Thank you for the kind words! And yes, trying to tell the sisters apart, nooooo! Of course ABO dynamics are infiltrating Apothecary Diaries and Dungeon Meshi, hahaha! Shisui’s is definitely the creepiest of the stories! And I can SO see the relation to Dororo! I love MaoMao being able to explain the story’s ending to Shisui and Yinghua in the end! That is so true about not seeing kids all the time, so when you DO, the grow up feels more real! I love that realism in the series, too! That’s also a good point as to why Yinghua invited her! Thank you for the reminder about SuiRei from Season 1! *puts Sherlock hat slowly back on* Thank you for the comment and kind words!

For the comment in regards to Consort Lishu's reaction to Maomao's lesson in Season 1, as far as I'm aware in regards to customs, the only reason the current Emperor was able to bring Lady Lishu in as his concubine is because she remained untouched by the previous Emperor. From my British perspective it's kind of similar to King Henry VIII. His first wife, Catherine of Aragon, was previously married to his older brother, Prince Edward, but as she swore the marriage was not consummated Henry VIII was granted permission by the church to marry her shortly after his succession to the English throne. I definitely agree with you though that the books would have made her so much more aware of what could have befallen her while married to the previous emperor. I love your interpretation of the scene between Jinshi and the previous emperor as it being a way to show that it's okay for Jinshi to like and find other pursuits, and to not want to be the heir of the current Emperor (or even not want to become the next ruler). I did have a little giggle on the look of terror on your face during the introduction of the three sisters. The panic bells were visible of you trying to tell them apart 😂 Gotts love ABO dynamics are even infiltrating The Apothecary Diaries 😁 Hard agree though that Maomao would be an Alpha. Yinghua has been a lady-in-waiting under Hongniang long enough to pick up a few things, though she's definitely more devious to Hongniang's more upfront manner 😂 Really love the way she wheedled Maomao into attending the soiree with her. Romania: They look like ghosts! Our little ghosties off to tell horror stories to pass the time in the Inner Palace 🥰🥺 The jump scare for the first story was perfectly done. Technically that's one Maomao already "solved", at least to the best of her ability, back in Season 1. It references the maid of Consort Ah-Duo's who drowned (when we learned, alongside Jinshi and Gaoshun, that Luomen has banned Maomao from having any involvement with dead bodies 😅) to try to make it seem like she had been the one that tried to poison Consort Lishu. The second story, even with Maomao's explanation, is suitably creepy. There's always a couple of people at these kinds of gatherings that tend to have some truly eerie tales to impart. But I definitely think Shisui's is the creepiest of all the stories. Hats off to the subtitles for making the subtitles like that and adding another chilling factor to the way the "woman" spoke. Also with the wandering priest I can't help but think of Dororo. That story of Shisui's definitely wouldn't seem out of place in that series. You gotta adore that Maomao's story though is completely based on true events, but then she gets a little too real and graphic with the corpse desecration 😅 It definitely adds a further fright that the court lady was the twelfth story of the night. And that the thirteenth story would have been if she'd succeeded in harming any or all of those gathered. Nowadays I think more people have more common sense than to eat something that glows-in-the-dark, but I've heard some horror stories from the A&E/ER that does sadly make me think that that tale is definitely one that could still take place in modern time 😅 What I do find very interesting about Maomao's explanation of that story to Shisui and Yinghua is that she doesn't heed Luomen's teaching about conjecture and makes a suggestion of what the mother in the story was going to say to the other villagers. Lingli's growth is so much like my own niece's. I don't get to see her too often, maybe once every two weeks, but she has shot up so much recently. It's really crazy how quickly they can just leave the baby stage. But hats off to the animation crew for realistically portraying Lingli aging. I think for Yinghua inviting Maomao specifically is because she knows Maomao is likely to be completely unfazed by the "scary" stories. She loves the horror but needs a stable presence she can rely on for when she gets too scared 😂 Season 1 Episode 20 is the episode that gives us a glimpse of when Suirei entered the Imperial Palace. Jinshi reflects on what little they know about Suirei. According to the doctor (the one that didn't carry out an autopsy on Suirei's "corpse") she was backed by his teacher, who "a few years [before]...brought her in as his adopted daughter".

I adored this episode. The fact that MaoMao kept mentioning there are only twelve people there, but 13 tales. That jump scare at the end gets me every time. I adore how the relationship between the women in the rear place continue to get explored. If I remember correctly in the previous episodes Loulan’s father assisted in acquiring girls for the previous emperor harem. I am sure there are grudges still held. And Shishu is most likely connect to that Loulian’s palace regardless of who she is.
