Delicious in Dungeon: Episode 17 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

 **HARPED ON HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

I thought that I was prepared for what was to come this episode - I was very WRONG. This episode was WILD for so many reasons, but uhm....do not MESS with Falin....am I right? *nervous chuckle*

I made a recipe from Episode 16 as well, but this episode FLOORED ME. Delicious in Dungeon is NOT. MESSING. AROUND. Y'ALL.

Delicious in Dungeon: Episode 17 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

I knew as soon as I said any NSFW things, y’all would pick it up, haha! I will say, Ian McKellen’s Macbeth is really good! Also, agree on the Netflix logo sound! Kabru is DANGEROUS - but yeah, he is a strategist and knows from analyzing others, so it’s so smart! And can SO see the relation to the Gojo/Toji moment!! Yes!! Falin is TERRIFYING. And I hate that she probably deep down may know what is happening at the expense of her hands while being controlled by the lunatic magician…though, hopefully, she might have a mind blank if they get her back from him. SO. MUCH. SHIPPING. This week! Of course we have to focus on Shuro and Marcille with Falin, but Senshi’s over here with the ultimate grip on his meal. 😛 I really love the Laios and Shuro moments in this episode - they are bakas for sure. I definitely agree that Shuro should have been more forward with Laios, especially if you think that he’s “dense” and isn’t getting cues. And I definitely agree about Laios being neurodivergent but I love that he stands up for himself in their conversation! But yes, hair down Shuro looks great! But if Falin wasn’t having him THEN…then…welll….. Anime is CRUEL for giving us a glimpse of Kabru backstory but him forgoeing saying no to go directly to killing - NOOOO – Kabru needs some drug education videos in his life! And Laios’s hand flutter! YESSS!! Shippers unite! Peeling potatoes, yeah, not my forte! But ooohhhh, that style of sweet potatoes sound AMAZING! I do like the idea of adding Mirin to the stir fry! I’ll have to make note of that! I can see that other method of separating the egg yolks as well - but that is also a great idea about softening the sweet potatoes; I wish I’d thought of that with the broth! I actually do NOT like mayonnaise…so maybe that’s why the sauce was meh to me, haha! That egg and carbonara sauce dish sounds really interesting, though! Thank you so much for the comment and kind words! This episode was fantastic!

Shuro and Laios's conversations were just so wonderful to listen to and see go down between them! I just love how the conversation from episode 16 comes back in 17 between them! And ooohhh, I can SO see the tie to One Piece that you're talking about! That's when you know it's good writing, if we can connect it to Oda! :P Thank you for all the comments!

Romaniablack

Oh yessssss, the foil is aluminum, durable, and I am LIVING for it and wanting to cook with it! Thank you for the comment!!

Romaniablack

oooohhhh, that is a good point! Thanks for noting that!

Romaniablack

Oohhh, that’s really interesting! I hadn’t thought about that about her eyes, but that’s interesting! And ahahaha, I forgot I had mentioned Chimeras so early on – I’m glad y’all let this be a surprise! Thank you for the comment!

Romaniablack

This was SUCH a ride and you could not look away! So much shock and awe and my jaw was just on the floor! Falin proves she is a THREAT! Oohh, CAN SEE the connection to Chainsaw Man as well! And Kabru just with that assault? OOF. Don’t let Kabru near Blue Lock, that’s all I can say! ;) I just love the Laios and Shuro moments in this! It’s so sweet to have that piano accompaniment of the theme! :3 I can’t wait to see where Kabru and Laios’s relationship goes in this series but these last few episodes have been so fun! Thank you for the comment and kind words!

Romaniablack

YES, I completely agree - the show does fan service very well - it keeps it classy without being gratuitous and I appreciate it so much; love that connection to Greek Mythology, too! Thank you for the comment!

Yes, we're here!!! Absolute BONKERS in the most stop stone-cold in your steps and can't take your eyes away, way! Shock and awe, seeing this the first time, I was blindsided, not expecting Falin to make such a grand, yet horrifying entrance! It reminds me a little of the 8th episode of Chainsaw Man, which perhaps is one of the most insane rule of 8s ever! And Kabru with the deadliest, almost jump scare inducing, barrage of sneak attacks I've seen in any anime! That boy does not mess around when he commits, I bet he could fit right in in any sports anime! Alpha Laios giving the food speech to Shuro is one of my favorite scenes. You know when you have the piano version of the series' theme playing behind you, you're on fire! The characters in this show are all so good! <3 Kabru is definitely puzzling through his head what monster would be the least unappealing to permit Laios to cook and feed him at their next dinner! He's hooked after those eggs, whether he admits it or not. Really enjoyed this one and how much fun you've been having with the series!

Even with the boob jiggle, Falin comes across as horrifying and almost like a mythic creature from Ancient Greece. This show does fan service in a unique way. I wouldn’t say it deconstructs it, but the author knows how to make it work for her story while being classy.

"...and they complete each other" is a failed distraction, sorry Romania I say! The filling of holes cannot be undone by such additions, haha! I was going to mention it as well, it was great.

Here’s what I believe to be a popular fandom headcanon. Falin may be nearsighted or farsighted hence why her eyes are always closed but when she’s resurrected with the dragon her eyes are open maybe implying being merged with the dragon fixed her vision. Also you were talking about Chimera’s so early on I was just holding it in

I love these dialogue lines from this and last episode, they really feel like the story is stating (one of) it's themes as plainly as possible for the audience: ep16: - Shuro: "I don't have time for that" - Laios: "Shuro, eating isn't something you do when you have time. It's only after having sleep and food that creatures can finally do what they want." ep17: - Shuro: "Why don't you start taking things seriously for once?" *which provokes Laios to slap him!*... - Laios: "It's true I'm not the most skilled, and you're stronger than most adventurers. But here's what I do know: We've been getting proper meals three times a day and good sleep too. That makes us more serious than you!" I love when stories do stuff like that! Even though it's completely unrelated in actual content, it slightly reminds me of my favorite scene in One Piece (the bar scene in Jaya) if only in that it feels to me like "a major theme is being stated here", if that makes any sense haha.

I love how when we first meet Kabru, Rin criticizes him for being noncommittal and not telling people "Of course, we'll be the ones to defeat the magician!" and instead gives a humble/polite smile and keeps the spotlight off. Then as soon as Laios is confronted he says it without hesitation, "We'll defeat the lunatic magician!" as his proposed solution to the situation. Their foil is so good!

Gus N

At the start Kabru is playing up how awful black magic is to make a point to Shuro that he would have done the same thing in Laios' shoes. I don't think we see Kabru's real opinion on using ancient/dark magic, he's just manipulating the situation to keep Shuro from killing Laios.

Romania: They fill each other's holes. Me: [NSFW brain has awoken] 😏 Oooh, Ian McKellen's Macbeth is definitely one of my favourite retellings of that play! Hardy agree that I prefer kobolds being dog-like creatures over lizard ones 😆 I have noticed a few times that the noise that plays during the Netflix logo can be so loud but then the show itself is more muted. Reminds me a lot of how at times on our TV the shows are at a lower volume while the adverts increase in volume until it's blaring at you. Kabru's ability to strategize, even under pressure, is definitely his strong point in a fight. And its such a fitting attribute for his character to have given the careful way he watches people and analyses them. Falin is just terrifying in this form. But it's her blank stare as she kills them all that is the scariest part. This episode really popped off though with all the death and the way Kabru just appeared behind Falin to try and kill her (which immediately makes me think of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 with Toji "killing" Gojo). There really isn't a moment of breathing room with how much happens. All the shipper moments this episode though 🥰 Very meaningful for them to focus on Marcille and Shuro's reactions specifically to Falin ripping off her top 😏 I adore that throughout it all Senshi kept the tray of food safe 😆 The fight between Laios and Shuro makes me laugh but also hurts my heart. They're both such idiots. But I do think Shuro should have been more upfront about his feelings with Laios. Laios is definitely not the most intuitive at picking up people's true intentions (which we also see with him thinking Kabru is a nice guy). I feel though Shuro's perspective of Laios definitely helps explain why Laios was so clueless about Shuro's feelings for Falin. Also furthers my headcanon that Laios is somewhere on the neurodivergent spectrum. I need more hair down Shuro though 😍 Little sneak of Kabru's backstory; anime is so mean for giving us that glimpse and then nothing the rest of the episode; give me more dammit! But Kabru immediately jumping to possibly killing Laios over a monster tamagoyaki 🤣 Kabru needs to watch one of those drug education videos that have the tagline "Just say no!" 😂 The little moment of Laios twitching his hand after Kabru held it in his two definitely made my shipper's heart flutter 🥰 Definitely agree that Falin's response to Shuro's proposal reads as a rejection to me too, or at least Falin wanting time to try to find a way to reject him that didn't then mess up the dynamics within their party. Peeling sweet potatoes is one of my banes of cooking 😆 To the point I tend to avoid cooking with it unless I can keep the skins on. Hasselback sweet potatoes (with bacon, cheese and scallions) are my favourite way to have sweet potatoes. Mirin is a great addition to drizzle in at the end of stir-fry's to help give the sauce a nice sheen and a little sweetness. I also add a tablespoon of it to some stews. Mirin mixed with about a teaspoon of miso paste is also a tasty marinade for vegetables or meat (add as much mirin as you want depending on the consistency you want, some vegetables like courgettes or peppers are better marinated with a thicker marinade, whilst meat is easier to work with if the marinade is on the more liquid side). If I'm making Japanese-style omelettes I would use mirin instead of sugar to get the sweetness alongside the soy sauce in the eggs. Separating egg yolks from the whites I do the technique you use too. But if my hands are sore and I don't have the dexterity for that I break the egg on to a small plate/saucer and then use an egg cup like a cookie/biscuit cutter to cover the yolk. Then you just hold it in place and tilt your plate into your waiting bowl to drain off the white, while the yolk remains inside the egg cup and can be poured into a separate bowl/container. Easiest way I find to make sweet potato soft (and for a little added flavour) is to put a little taste of chicken stock into the pan with it. That would also help with not making the whole dish just as dry. I've made my own mayonnaise before on two occasions. First time was a complete fail. Second time worked much better. I have also tried making my own carbonara sauce before and I've decided not to try making that specific recipe again 😆 It worked great and then by the time I was ready to plate up the eggs in the sauce had caught with the heat and the end result was more like scrambled eggs than a carbonara sauce 😢
