Episode 7 was amazing and the flashback was flawless, but THIS episode? This is my favorite of the season so far!
COMMUNICATION. CHARACTER GROWTH. HUMOR. WORLD BUILDING. This episode had it all and THEN a reveal at the end that has me instantly wanting to watch the next episode!

HAHAHAHA just…more shapes, eh? 😛 Man, there are so many questions with Queen Sensei and a part of me is glad they just showed us literally a MINUTE of her - I will likely have many questions when we (hopefully) get more of her in the future in the show! Instant favorite side character for the mystery and vibes alone! HAHAHA – I love confirmation Momo didn’t murder Aira’s friends! I don’t know about Momo’s childhood, but the grandmother is literally female Gojo, so the shit stirring allegations are for real. I imagine Ken’s parents are fine - but I wonder if she offered to buy the uniforms so Ken wouldn’t have to explain *every day* why his uniforms were torn up? Maybe she feels somewhat guilty that Ken’s involvement has caused this to happen, so she’s taking some accountability for it? These are all good questions, though! Hahaha, it’s totally fine to love a character from the start! I feel that they at least are helping us to get on board with her character early – I’m sure she’s still going to have a lot of chaos around her…especially now that this new…fellow has shown up! ;) Thank you for the comment!!

I’ll stay over here in the west and we can work it out. 😛 That reference to 21 jump street is HILARIOUS! You know, that movie came out in 2012 *feeling old intensifies* so maybe DandaDan drew inspiration from it? GEN Z SHADOW GIRLS! I’m here for it! I think that it’s super cute that Momo loves old school actors - and that reference drawing inspiration for L is amazing! Thank you for that inspiration and the comment!

I definitely think that Okarun’s theory is going to come back later, if not be the actual plot of the show – but hey, it was urgent times, so I don’t blame them for brushing past him at first! The school nurse is just BONKERS. I have no clue what they’re going to do with her character but if they hired HER here, then maybe all the mayhem going on really is just the “norm?” We’ll have to see! But I do appreciate she at least seemed to care about the students! I’m imagining if HER character was in the March Comes in Like a Lion universe - she’d probably smack Hina’s OG homeroom teacher around! The deadpan SERIOUSNESS of the alien’s story definitely made the whole thing even more bonkers! And yes, I loved the translation bit too! Yeah, the LOGISTICS of what’s going to happen to that cow afterwards? You could definitely go down a rabbit hole of…how would this work past day one? I sure did! But yeah, maybe we’ll see the cow down the road and it will have thrived on the alien planet, hahaha! Who knows!! THE FACE MELTING EMOJI - oh my god, that is my absolute thoughts with Jiji! And yes, same with you - can we just have Momo and Ken run off to develop their relationship without any of them getting in the way! XD Thank you for the comment and kind words!

2025-03-30 16:35:55 +0000 UTCHey the show heard that you don't like love triangles, so now it's a square instead, all fixed. ;) So that teacher knew exactly what he was doing when he opened the door without knocking right, right? And can we acknowledge that Queen Sensei turned the lights on first after she left the room, meaning it was her choice to have them off... when interrogating the kids about if they where bullied, for the ambience i guess? Oh good, we see that Aira's friends are still alive, so Momo didn't murder them in that abandoned warehouse, that's nice. Why are Grandma Seiko buying uniforms for all them? Infact where are Ken's parents? we haven't seen them at all or even heard them spoken about, shouldn't they be the ones buying uniforms for Ken? And speaking of grandma, she is such a shit stirrer, i hope Momo was a real handfull growing up to warrant this level of trolling. :P As an Aira "defender" i'll say i loved her from the start (well first full episode she was in, that very first introduction didn't enamor anyone) and if she was someone i at first didn't like i wouldn't have said anything (i think, i hope). I might even dread they are going through her redemption a bit quick, would hate to lose her brand of chaos to early... although in fairness, with that episode 7 she went through she have had the experiences to speedrun that personal growth arc, good for her.

Sending him a cease and desist letter might be in order. This is an odd one but The ID card in the Dominatrix school nurse scene reminded me of Nick Offerman's scene in 21 Jump Street where he was chewing out the two protagonists and had a portrait of himself looking exactly the same as he was in the scene. I take no credit for knowing this, I was just curious enough to look up what the reference was: their 'Columbo' skit was referencing a similar japanese show called 'Furuhata Ninzaburo' in particular an actor called Masakasu Tamura, so similar to her grandma forcing her to do a Hiroshi Abe impression, everyone likes teasing Momo for her love of old school actors: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-a_hYP3OTY Come to think of it Death Note's L awkward hunch posture might also be referencing this actor.

2025-03-26 18:23:48 +0000 UTCOne thing I really like about Dandadan is that they balance their comedy and action, serious moments and downright ridiculous scenes so well and it never feels like it's too much of one or the other. Which I'm pretty sure I've already said, but it bears repeating. Okarun giving his explanation of why the creepy aliens might be targeting only him and Aira, and not just attacking the yokai is SO interesting (it reminds me of this one Haikyuu fanfic I ADORE with a very similar premise, which is completely unrelated, but that fic is pure gold and seeing something that reminded me of it here was unexpected), but I LOVE that neither Momo nor Aira got anything of what he said *lol* Like, they sort of got the urgency of what he was explaining to them, but that was it. As much as their wacky characters make me laugh and I generally like them, the dominatrix-school-nurse was a little too much for me XD I did appreacite that despite her general dispositon, she seem to genuinely care about what was going on with these three kids that acted so weirdly all of a sudden. The whole alien's story with his son needed the blood transfusions went way harder that it needed to, but that only made it funnier. I particularly liked how they made him speak words in his own alien language because he didn't know the words the direct translation, and we only get the sound of it but not the meaning of it. It's a little touch of realism that works really well and I just generally really liked. While them somehow getting a cow to give to the alien was super nice, I can never stop thinking about how that cow is going to be fed... I mean, for one, they just shipped that cow to an alien planet, who knows if the atmosphere is even going to be good for it; and for another, isn't it a war-torn planet? How will they find anything that the cow will be able to eat? It just seems like a not very sustainable plan in the long run to me XD Of course, I also think that I'm overthinking it and this anime will just make it work, because it's fiction and all, but, well, I just keep thinking about that, is all. I do agree with you, though, that the whole "I'll help you whenever you need help" feels very much like foreshadowing. Not that I mind, as that will be hype and cool. So... Jiji showed up *insert face melting emoji* I'm sure that won't cause any problems for Okarun, seeing as he might just be his love rival T_T I just want Momo and Okarun to be able to develop their relationship without any obstacles anymore T_T

Hearing you compare Momo's two school friends to the shadow girls from Utena - now I can't not see it, just perfect! Some really random side notes, I finally blindly stumbled upon the infamous "Hey bitches and bros and non-binary hoes" in my first watch of the show it's from, the INSANITY I tell you! And to add more to the plate I recently started up Blue Lock with my daughter and those reactions - I have this compelling urge to ask you about Ace of the Diamond, would you care to elaborate? Haha! Love it! But seriously, I might check back in for a sports reaction recommendation after Blue Lock!
