Jinshi's status and familial connections getting to know and approve of MaoMao are all catching up to him, as he and MaoMao are invited off-grounds to a "hunt" that is certainly not an assassination attempt and CERTAINLY not nefarious in any way!

“To lift and lay them” is such a phrase! That’s wild to me that it’s happening elsewhere, too - I definitely think it’s detrimental to them being able to do anything on their own - so I feel bad that they’re being done a disservice! The MVP frog! I’m so grateful for him but show, a CLIFFHANGER there?! REALLY?! Poor Jinshi, going through all this AND Gyokuyou teasing him! She is not going to let MaoMao out of her sight that easily! 😛 The set designs this episode were beautifully illustrated! I feel for Basen - he is the audience surrogate in all this! Gaoshun’s like, “I know. I feel you all, too.” XD That makes sense with the aphrodisiacal food too – I feel for him and still wonder if it’s just coincidence all these dishes have it in them or not…I guess we’ll find out! The HEIGHT difference and just SIZE difference between MaoMao and Jinshi is a THING. The cave scene is truly soooo good for feeding the shippers! And I like that MaoMao respects (and fears) her elders, haha! But yes, Jinshi was just in a conflicting position the whole darn episode! Glad you agree too about the CPR part! 2025-03-29 15:22:17 +0000 UTCI'm really hoping that AD doesn't go THAT dark a route like Berserk did after the Cave Confession - honestly, I don't think these two will "immediately" start dating because MaoMao hasn't even processed that she likes Jinshi back (even though she gives off a lot of nonverbal and inner monologue indicators she does) - so I hope at least, this gives Jinshi a chance to tell her the truth, so she can spend probably the rest of the season processing it and figuring out what she wants to do with that -- I feel it's going to be a "gets worse before it gets better" moment, but we shall see with Episode 12!! 2025-03-28 21:40:08 +0000 UTCSadly your experience at University-level with the young men whose mothers continue to do everything for them (or as we call it: to lift and lay them) is one I've also witnessed here in the UK. Though I will say there were a couple of young women in the same boat, but definitely a much larger percentage of the men at University relied so much on their mothers. Not just for signing up for their classes, but also what buses to get to go certain places, which taxi companies to use, where to shop, where their classes were, etc. They also visited every holiday break to those living in Halls of Residence (University dorms) with frozen meals for them because they could not cook, and they'd take a day to do their son's clothes washing 😮💨 I fully admit to cackling away at your comments about the Opening and the shot of wet Maomao and Jinshi. You did ask the show not to tease you any more with that moment 😆 Also I have been highly anticipating your reaction to the MVP frog that gave us Jinshi and Maomao in such an embrace 🥰 But the show just followed up being a tease by ending the episode where they did. Consort Gyokuyou's teasing of Jinshi is definitely up there as one of my favourite interactions between those two. Woman's gotta find her fun somehow 🤣 Both in the form of them fighting over who has claim over Maomao as "theirs" but also in Jinshi's inability to refer to Maomao by name 🥰 The focus on the roof decorations is a scene I did love. In Imperial China such decorations on buildings were only allowed on official buildings, such as temples, palaces, and governmental buildings. It really highlights that that building was used by the imperial family in the past. The number of beasts before the figure on a phoenix at the end also denotes the importance of the building. Basen is us as we question Maomao's ability to ignore the puzzle pieces she already has to discover the truth about Jinshi 🤣 And I imagine some in the fandom definitely wouldn't mind Gaoshun bonking them round the head like that too 😂 Invigorating foods, in this regard, means foods considered to have aphrodisiacal properties in several Asian cultures 🤭 And that explains why Gaoshun put the restraining hand on Jinshi's shoulder. Maomao is unaware Jinshi is not a "proper" eunuch and instead is just medicated to be like one. And as such there is the possibility that such strong aphrodisiac food and drinks could have an effect on him. Damn those men with feifa for ruining the reveal moment! But on the other hand it did lead us to getting that CPR scene and both Maomao and Jinshi in only their undergarments 😆 Also every time I watch Maomao checking Jinshi's temperature, and Jinshi trying to feed Maomao, the only thought in my shipper brain is: height difference 😍😂 Suiren is truly a terrifying woman. Maomao's first thought with Jinshi's plan isn't possible freedom but the punishment she could receive for standing on someone of such standing as Suiren's Master Jinshi 😂 It is that nice little hint of added humour to a tense situation. That is a truly evil place to end the episode! I'm so glad you won't have to wait for Episode 12 😂 Romania: So the episode starts out with Jinshi in a very conflicting position Me: And ends with him in another kind of position with Maomao 😏 Completely agree on the mouth-to-mouth not being their first kiss. That was all just about saving Maomao and not anything romantic.

2025-03-28 16:58:50 +0000 UTCAnime only - I didn't expect to get "the talk" with Jinshi and Maomao this soon and I'm here for it! Love the two of them, I wonder if I'm ready for them to be dating or not hmmm we'll have to see what happens! You cover how Maomao is a bit different from other girls when it comes to her feelings on relationships, and they both fit each other well in that regard! I do wonder how Maomao will react! I also thought of Berserk when they were cornered on the cliff and jumped off, back in the good days of the show. And it was SO SO good back then! Slightly different scenario - instead of Casca with her period (and loved the discussions from Berserk, how relatively progressive they were at first!) we have Jinshi with his secret. But in Berserk it was the start of a turning point for Guts and Casca's relationship it felt like - perhaps the same will be true here of Jinshi and Maomao? Too bad it all went downhill in Berserk when Griffith's ships sank, literal end of days disaster event those sinking ships. Enjoyed the reaction and discussion!

That's why Jinshi would not eat it and why Basen had a nose bleed...it increased blood flow, including to his man parts...which is also why he was hunched over as he tried to get to his room. Jinshi is wearing a mask because some of the guests, Shishou included have seen him as "Jinshi", but he is there as the imperial brother, so he can't let them make the connection. In the novels the excuse is that the imperial brother has facial scars, which is why he wears a mask.
