Word of Honor: Episode 25 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

I love an intimate scene that’s not OUTRIGHT spicy but all the implications are there! I could watch scenes like this with them all day! And that cinematography is SO GOOD! There are shots in this episode that are just soooo good! The nuts ads are also just so comical in how “subtle” they are not even though they’re trying! 😛 Gu Xiang and Cao Wei Ning have my heart! They are in messy times but I love how they’re attempting to work through it! I am so glad someone else appreciates CWN’s eyes as much as me! Haha!! GX being torn but deciding what to do by this episode in supporting and admitting her love for him was wonderful! Yeah, “no body no death” HAS been challenged in this series, so there’s no telling with him at this point, but I’m so intrigued about the Strawberry Shortcake duo and how they’ve ended up with this “conclusion” so far! And then there is Shen Shen who’s come full circle in this battle and who I appreciate more and more in this series as it goes! WKX’s monologue was raw and that simmering rage was really well portrayed by Gong Jun throughout! And ChengLing, our chatty little bean! “Ghost gossip,” hahaha!! Yeah, the torment with these two men and their pasts, their responsibilities to that past, and their future they want together? It’s so goooood! I love how these episodes have had it play out! I wasn’t mad at these last two episodes – I thought the pacing was fine in letting this character development happen - I think it was very well done and I would have wanted them to spend this time with the characters! And yesss, we need to savor this build up so we can see the pay off later on! Thanks for the comment and kind words! 😀

That rainy-night scene between Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing? So subtle, but honestly one of their most intimate moments so far. No big declarations, no melodrama—just two people sharing wine in the cold, with this peaceful, calm honesty between them, talking about the past. You can really feel how far they’ve come emotionally. Wen Kexing is clearly spiraling internally, but Zi Shu gives him space and warmth without pushing. The part where Zhou Zi Shu is like "You're always welcome here whenever you want." Loved it! And I totally agree with your view on it being him not wanting to push Wen Kexing, but rather assure him that he'll always have a home in the four seasons manor. Also can we just appreciate the cinematography of Zhou Zi Shu standing in the round window with a lantern hanging on the side and beautiful nature outside, and Wen Kexing sitting behind looking at him? Such a breathtaking view! (Sidenote: Eat his nuts, Zhou Zi Shu!! EAT THEEEEEM! Hahahaa! I'm dying over the hilarious nuts advertisements! xD) And then there’s the whole Gu Xiang and Cao Wei Ning arc. They’re adorable, but this episode also made it clear how messy things are becoming. Gu Xiang clearly wants to protect him by keeping him away from her Ghost Valley ties, but Cao Wei Ning? That man is all heart (and unbelievable gorgeous eyes like what the hell?). He jumps right into danger trying to save Gao Xiao Lian—even when Gu Xiang’s like, “Hey, maybe don’t do this?”—because he just can’t sit by and do nothing (Bro's before hoes, haha!). And the fact that she runs off to find help for him. That says everything. She's torn between her past and her feelings, and you can tell she’s scared that who she is will hurt him. But he’s just so... unshakable in his love. That moment when he wakes up and tells her he doesn't care about any of it? Ugh, feelings. In the translation I watched, he says "I'll give my life to you" rather than "I'll just die" which I think made the look between them a bit sweeter tbh xD Also the whole scene with the Strawberry Shortcake couple and Huang He... IF that really was him dying, then it's a bit funny actually. They just kill him off-screen? Not even a dramatic last word or a flying blood spray. Man gave a whole monologue, and then poof—gone. Wild. And can we talk about Shen Shen? Sir came in with the quiet rage of "I’m way too done with all this drama” , immediately dropped truth bombs and sword skills like it was nothing. Then actually decided not to kill Gu Xiang, even though she’s from the Ghost Valley. That’s a big deal because, honestly, Shen Shen used to be way more brash and so strongly against the ghost valley. But now? He’s got this whole “grumpy sword uncle who’s learning to chill” energy, and honestly, I’m kind of here for it. I don’t know when it happened, but I’m suddenly kind of into him. Like, okay grumpy sword uncle, I see you. Finally, seeing Wen Kexing visiting the graves was rough. You can feel that guilt and regret just pouring off him. He’s trying to reconcile the person he became with the disciple he once was, and it's heartbreaking. And then you’ve got Cheng Ling over here chatting way too much to the dead—like, calm down, dude! Both Wen Kexing and Zhou Zi Shu having to basically tell him to pipe down. It’s this weird but kind of hilarious contrast: intense grief mixed with Cheng Ling’s nonstop ghost gossip. What really hits is how Wen Kexing seems to have found someone —Zhou Zi Shu—who makes him actually want to live and be better. But it’s tearing him apart inside, caught between his long-standing mission to get rid of those who betrayed his parents and this unexpected, softer pull toward Zi Shu. That internal battle is what makes him so fascinating right now. It’s like he’s finally admitting how lost he really is—and you just want to reach through the screen and give him a hug. All in all, it wasn’t a flashy episode, and honestly, it’s the second slower-paced one in a row—which wasn’t really what you'd might expect. I was kinda bracing myself for more intensity and plot moving forward (same as you). But looking back, I really feel this episode was necessary. It gave us space to understand the characters better and dig into their struggles, instead of rushing past them. Plus, if they’d zoomed through all this too quickly, we might’ve missed out on some important feelings and motivations that might not be easy to incorporate at a later stage. So yeah, even if it felt slow, that tension of everyone being pulled between who they were and who they want to be? It’s real, and you can tell they’re all standing on the edge of something that's about to shift.

You’re one of the few Western creators I’ve seen who really gets Word of Honor. Thanks again for your thoughtful reaction—it made my day (again)!
