Bungo Stray Dogs Season 4: Episode 8 Early Access Reaction!

**WEB OF HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

Oh, y'all, Whiteboard-kun was DEFINITELY needed for this discussion because this episode was PACKED with set up, a web of characters going in different directions, allegiances, possible traps, lies, agendas -- the "Rule of 8" did not let us down and the stage isn't even fully SET for what's about to go down, I feel, as we move deeper into this season!

We're just one dark-clothed man away from having all my favorites in one episode! Let's see if next week hits the mark! ;)

Bungo Stray Dogs Season 4: Episode 8 Early Access Reaction!

Comments

You don’t have to apologize for later comments! NO need for “sorry!” HAHAHA, I do think that Fukuzawa is like, “Dazai can handle himself, but YOSANO.” Atsushi is such a sweet bean, but he can just be so idealistic sometimes, it makes him appear naive. I love that optimism he has, and he DOES think up the plan with Fitzgerald, so there is that! Yes, I’ll mention your note about Ango in the next episode! I feel for him! Ahhh, I like that idea that Dazai has somewhat “healed” thanks to the found family he’s gained and Fyodor has not at all. That’s a great observation with them. And yessss, I love that “old sport” Fitzgerald! :) I love how much we’ve gotten with him so far in this series and the arc his character has been through. And yes, I want him to know about that book as wellllll – bless Atsushi – maybe he can get that information related to to him somehow. Thank you for the comment! I’m excited for what else is to come!

(late comments once again, lets goooooooooooooo, I am so sorry -_-) What you said about Fukuzawa throwing all the other members under the bus by default when he specifically ruled out Yosano is so true cause like, when I first read this I was thinking "but what about Dazai; he used to be under Mori too and also has trauma with him" 😭😭😭 but Fukuzawa said nah screw Dazai LMAO, damn kinda cold (I'm joking, I love Fukuzawa dearly and I know he didn't have much of a choice here, beggars can't be choosers in a dire situation like this, but it still feels wrong sdfjkslaksdlf) Atsushi hallucinating Dazai in order to motivate himself is really touching; his negative inner voice in the form of the orphanage headmaster is slowly being replaced by Dazai, the light in his life and the person he now looks to for hope and guidance. :' ) It just makes me a little sad though because Atsushi IS very smart, he CAN think up plans on his own, he came up with the idea to go to Francis to find Mushitarou to help them all on his own, it's just that he doesn't have confidence in himself, he can't take initiative on his own, so any ideas he /does/ come up with he has to pretend he got from an imaginary Dazai in his head, instead of from his own mind. Still, this is a huge step forward for him on his path towards healing, and a very important one at that. We talked about this in the discord, but Ango is someone who really values life, because while he was in the mafia he made many detailed reports of deceased mafiosi just for the sake of keeping their memory alive; he definitely would have hated Oda being sacrificed, and Mori and Taneda's philosophies in general. He really was and is stuck in two organizations that he isn't fit for at all; he would probably be much happier in a place like the agency, under Fukuzawa. 💔 Ango hurts meeeeee Yes, Dazai and Fyodor are similar in a lot of ways, but also different, and the advice they both give (in the world's worst advice column ever lmao) are very telling of these differences, as you said. Dazai in the past was very much more nihilistic, but he was always /searching/ for a reason to live, a meaning to life -- and like you said, thanks to Oda and his own growth, and the bonds he's formed with the agency, he's reached a point where he's begun to accept in the inherent flaws of humanity, has accepted his /own/ humanity, and even finds it beautiful, in a way. He's still struggling, no doubt, but he's changed from when he was younger, and I think the advice he gives about letting Fyodor's subordinates take initiative of their own, while still not great advice in the way he says it lmao, is very telling of how he tries to mentor Atsushi now. Fyodor, on the other hand, is rooted in that nihilistic view of humanity, and chooses to isolate himself, has no bonds of his own like Dazai does, and only knows how to manipulate and destroy, based on that kind of God complex he has. They're both incredibly isolated from others due to their supreme intelligence (which is why them interacting is so enriching for the both of them and kinda feels like two kids doing the "finally, a worthy opponent; our battle will be legendary!" meme lmao), but Dazai has grown and learned to somewhat cope with that due to the new family he's formed, and Fyodor hasn't. They're similar, but different. And yeah definitely a toxic hateship if there ever was one smh. Seeing Francis again made me so happy, I love him so much. 🥹 The old sport may try to act like he's still a hardass, and just wants Margaret revived so she and Hawthorne can kill each other, but we know he cares :' ) we know he's softtttt; his motives were soft to begin with, doing everything for his wife and daughter; he was just so desperate 💔 but then he had a fantastic redemption arc last season, so. 😤 He definitely needs to learn that the Book is involved in all of this asap, since not only does he want it so bad, but he was the one who somehow originally knew that Atsushi is the key to finding it, as he mentioned in the Guild arc. I'd LIKE to think that if Atsushi had only known about its involvement in their current predicament, he would have mentioned it as an incentive to Francis, but, well, considering how slow on the uptake he is here about remembering "OH THAT'S RIGHT, YOU TRIED TO KILL US AND ALL OF YOKOHAMA, DIDN'T YOU" only at the tail end of their negotiations, I don't think he would remember as small a detail as Francis' motives back then re: the Book 😭 bless Atsushi, I love him but he is so stupid sometimes lmaooooo

Thanks for the comments! Yeah, back and back we go, right? I like it!

It's funny how the further season we watch, the far back we get in backstory timeline. First it's 4 years ago, then it's 8 years ago, then it's 12 years ago.

Stace

Oda vs Gide, Akutagawa vs Hawthorne, Kyouka vs Kouyou, and now Dazai vs Fyodor.
