Vinland Saga Season 2: Episode 8 Early Access Reaction!

**ANGST-RIDDEN HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

NOTE: I forgot to watch the Episode 6.5 short for this episode, but I've made a note to react and watch and talk about it before Episode 9 next week! ^^

I have been LOVING the development Thorfinn has received this season, and this episode adds a LOT in terms of what our dude has been dealing with and where his inner struggles lie. In addition to a surprising connection to Sverkel, our poor fellow Einar is GOING THROUGH IT, as he not only loses one connection of hope, but another for the future and THORFINN has to be the one to calm him down! What a crazy episode...and cliffhanger!

Ahahahaha, "When not chronically angry, he is a damn fine man" -- That is a LINE! And sooooo true! And yesss, Snake can pick up on Thorfinn's status, but isn't too noticeable otherwise. And yesssss, that is the most frustrating part -- the entire soil is wasted and they can't just regrow it -- it's so heartbreaking to be back at square one; it makes Einar's anguish all the more palpable. Thank you for the kind words and comment! I agree; an amazing episode!

OOOOHHHH!! The idea of breaking with one punch and it connecting back to Thorkell and Thors -- I LOVE that! And this time it having meaning?! I LOVE that! Thanks for reminding me about that moment from Season 1! I'll have to bring that up in the next discussion!

I was just rewatching the episode before I commented and I was thinking about s1, and how Thors knocked Thorkell out in one punch in that one flash back. Thorkell himself mentioned having the tendency to threaten people with one of his punches if they were thinking of dying (I think?? It’s somewhere in episode 18/19 of season 1. Plus, knowing Thorkell he’d probably kill people with his punches 😩). And here we have Thorfinn breaking the retainer’s jaw with a single punch, and for whatever reason I suddenly started thinking about the first OPM opening. The idea is both very cursed and very funny to me lmao. But yes!! Thorfinn taking the ‘fall’, yet he actually means to do it this time instead of just being all “yeah, whatever. I don’t care what happens to me 🤷‍♀️” is just *chef’s kiss*

Thinking of Thorfinn as a "One Punch Man" is hilarious! I do love that he stands up for Einar and takes the "fall" for him, like what he was wanting to do back against Olmar and the other "guards." Thanks so much for the kind words and comment!

As much as I love the conversations and the dialogue between Thorfinn and Einar + Sverkel in this episode, I think it’s a little funny to think about Thorfinn upholding his family’s legacy of being a literal “One punch man” lol. No, but for real, I think Thorfinn being the one to punch says *a lot*. Loved the reaction! :D

23:12 - Its ok simping for thorfinn, gotta say, A man who has the ability to be so strong like thorfinn, who went to hell and back showing this kind of humility and beauty towards life its something quite unique and dare I say, attractive. and besides. when thorfinn stops being chronically angry, he is a damn fine man 48:58 - Its a very interesting point, to the average man, thorfinn doesn´t look like a warrior, he doesn´t fit that estigma, he is soft, quiet and relaxed. but for a warrior, like snake, he can see who he is, maybe in his scars on his hands and skin, maybe even in the expression he carries, the expression of someone dealing with a long past. maybe can be because thorfinn was even a famous man, the blonde little kid who defeated the giang thorkell, almost like the story of david and golliat. certainly thorfinn carries around a "legendary" status, that only certain men can pick up, but for everyone else, he is an average man 52:28 - the very frustrating part of einar saying "we wasted the fertility but we will not have a harvest", its extremely frustrating because chances are, the wheat took all possibility that they could make a new growth there, the nitrogen back then to grow plants was limited to the soil and was not replenishable in that time without "guano", an ultra expensive "poop" used as fertilizer back then. that land not only died, it might not even be able to regrow anything again considering they are slaves without that kind of access for fertilizers, they would have to start at point 0 and cut down trees again. Amazing episode
