I know that there is angst on the horizon, but for now, can we savor the sweetness that was THIS EPISODE?
The Field Day at the daycare where Rei gets to see the other parents alongside Kazuki, vocalize his support for Miri, and get confirmation that the three of them, at least in Miri's eyes, are a FAMILY? MY HEART! I'm not ready for the storms to come, so let's take advantage of this wonderful episode for now!

Ooohhh, I definitely want a happy ending or at worst a bittersweet ending hahaha! But as long as Rei and Kazuki end up together with Miri, I'll be happy! I love that Kyu has seen Kazuki and Rei at their worst, so I hope that he doesn't do anything to actively hurt him -- I want to give Kyu more than that! And OOH, the symbol on Rei's shirt being that of a sniper scope makes PERFECT sense! And it's on his heart, SO - symbolism! :P I love Anna -- she's just a GREAT character! And Taiga's family is EXACTLY what they should be. I wasn't sure what I imagined, but now I can't see anything different. The "family" note and Rei's development is just *chef's kiss* i n terms of development! I LOVE IT. And I had NOT seen that full ending! I'll have to listen to it! And YES, I love Kazuki, but Rei took me by surprise and hasn't let go since -- I've been so actively rooting for his character and this episode made me SO happy! I love how much he's been growing and YES -- it's sort of like Langa or other characters from Sk8 growing as the season has gone on as well! And oooooooooooohhhh, it was Miri holding REI'S HAND. I hadn't thought of that but that's so true! Will this become my comfort anime by the end of this?! We shall see! :) Thank you for the kind words and comment!

2023-04-01 00:28:47 +0000 UTCRei geeking out about physical training is absolutely adorable and I am 100% into it that he’s a gamer but also a secret gym bro (or not so secret) and that he tries to get Kazuki in the “gym life” and he just CAN’T hahahaha! I was totally fine with Kazuki’s over-the-top reaction because it’s a great audience insert and Kazuki…constantly acts over-the-top with his emotions haha! I was very proud of Rei, even if he didn’t “quite” stick the landing on it overall. My heart hurt too when he was self-conscious about his cooking as well, so I’m glad the kids were okay with it! <3 And the two of them experiencing childhood through parenthood is very angsty but also a little ray of sunshine. I would like to think that Kazuki has found his way into the Mum Chat now, too! 🙂 Taiga has no hope! Hahahaha, if they are able to raise Miri to her adolescence, Taiga needs to WATCH. OUT. I’ve rooted for Rei this season and his growth, so him screaming for Miri was just ICING on the cake! And the fact that Kazuki is respectful for Rei is just #couplesgoals!! The emotions of that “family” note just GOT ME. IN THE FEELS! And Aozora’s Daycare is the type of inclusive environment we need in this world. Agreed. I have all of these thoughts for the end of the season, but I haven’t watched the last episode yet, so….**nervous laughter** I’m so ready for y’all to see the reactions for Episodes 10 and 11, but not ready to talk about them because it means the “end is nigh”...for now, hopefully, anyway. 2023-03-31 14:06:29 +0000 UTCI kinda want angst with a happy ending but I also kinda want a sad ending. I do believe though that the series won't give us a bad ending. Kyu-chan saw both Kazuki and Rei at their worst so I can't imagine him being put in that position of knowing that this family will soon probably get destroyed after seeing how good it is for all of them. I think maybe Kazuki gets kidnapped by the boss ans that will be the big conflict. That symbol on Rei's shirt looks to me like from a sniper gun like the target, I'm not sure if that's what it's called. Like other people have commented I love that Anna is just Anna. She wasn't written with all those stereotypcal troupes. I couldn't have imagined Taiga's family differently. Perfekt. XD Rei asking Kazuki to also help cook something was so suprising but so good. I'm so glad to see that he's trying really hard. Seeing Rei giving himself the fault that Miri didn't won the race was sad to see. But luckily that resolved quickly. Kazuki was me when I found out on Miri's note was written 'family'. That was so sweet. She's so wonderful in this series and there needs to be more of her! And how she instantly accepts and doesn't question Kazuki and Rei; I love it so much! 2023-03-28 00:27:37 +0000 UTC8 & 9 are most definitely my favourite episodes of Buddy Daddies and that’s saying something as every single one episode has been pretty fantastic (episode 2 is possibly the weakest but still enjoyable). For me as soon as I saw Rei in the beginning of the season I knew he was going to be my favourite. I gravitate towards those type of characters anyway and I could kinda see where they were going to take his character. But with all that being said I’m genuinely super surprised at how much depth they were able to pack in for being a 1 cour show. For everyone not just Rei but he’s a pretty big stand out. Again very similar feelings to how I felt during Sk8’s run. Both being presented as some quirky fun and then half way through fully unleashed the A N G S T. Seriously what happened to my ‘comfort anime’?! I LOVE it though. Also I adore the detail that Miri is seemingly really tactile with Rei and is almost always found sleeping on him. It’s super sweet and it really suits Rei in a strange way. Him being quiet but that’s how he really shows affection for her. 🥺 OH and the moment I realised that in the OP we have the line towards the end “there you go you’ve got me wrapped around your finger again” and it shows a quick flash of Miri holding an adults fingers and to realise that that was Rei & Miri all along. God I’m really gunna miss this show!

2023-03-26 20:39:46 +0000 UTCRei is usually the one that can explain things at Miri's level of understanding so it's interesting that when it comes to training he immediately goes into a high level explanation. Could be that we've found an area of his life that Rei likes to geek out about. Kazuki's reaction to Rei helping to make food for Miri's field day is a little over-the-top but it is honestly a huge thing. Great way to show Rei's own growth as a father. Was so proud of him in this moment...until the later reveal of the fillings he chose. He has the unrefined palate of a four year old! But my heart did hurt for Rei feeling like his onigiri weren't good enough to share. I love that both Kazuki and Rei are getting to experience things they should have experienced as kids, through being Miri's Papas. It's angsty and painful to think why they didn't experience such things, but the fact they can now takes some of the bitterness away. Kazuki's interaction with the Mums really feels like it's now actually canon he's in the Mums chat. Rei's progression is now that he is as, if not more, protective of Miri as Kazuki when it comes to her being around the opposite sex. Poor Taiga. This episode really makes you root for Rei just as much as you root for Miri to do her best. But you really do want to just give him a hug when he blames himself for Miri tripping. I love though that Kazuki is concerned for Rei's mental wellbeing and knows not to push any harder for him to join them. He knows Rei well enough where the boundary is for when Rei needs space or needs a push. Rei now waves back to Miri when she calls out to him and waves. She no longer has to call and call him. Such character growth! The three of them running like that made me worried they'd get disqualified. But dang they're too cute. Was not expecting a scavenger hunt item to hit me so hard in the emotions. Your comments during the ED about them setting us up for a fall made me laugh a little because the show really didn't give us any time to bask in the sweetness before throwing us back into the incoming pain train. If we get rings I may lose my voice from screaming in happiness! Someone else on Twitter also pointed out the two women together and I do like the idea that they're together. And not just so there's more representation, but also it fits with how accepting Aozora Daycare are.

2023-03-26 18:23:11 +0000 UTCRei just looks so soft throughout this entire episode. Clearly the episode showing us how they have all accepted and settled into their role as a family. Also this is probably the first time in his life that Rei has raised his voice. Poor guy isn't used to this at all^^
