Vinland Saga Season 2: Episode 23 Full Length Reaction!

**DUAL HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

Who knew that two angsty teens from season 1 would grow up into such BEAUTIFUL young men, inside and out! I love the passion and ambition these men share in this episode, truly two sides of a similar coin! And I'm not even sure that Thorfinn realizes just HOW much influence he's had on everyone, the King included!

This episode was so gorgeous, following perfectly in step from last episode! Excuse me while I fangirl hardcore with this episode and all the full circle moments!

I love that this is historically accurate -- it happens SO fast in the episode, that it almost seems "rushed," but I get the symbolism and thematic tie-in with Thorfinn inspiring Canute -- it just happened so quickly! I like that Thorfinn reached Canute -- a flaw with the episode for me is that it happens SO instantly -- like this one conversation completely undid the ideologies Canute's had for YEARS? I'm glad that he's realized someone else shares that belief that paradise can be reached without violence, but I hope that it's not an "instant" change from what we've been given, as happy as I am that Canute's on this path. Maybe the power of Jesus Thorfinn IS that strong. I would rather that Canute still struggles with his path, because even if Canute was instantly swayed (and we don't blame him), it will be interesting to see how his men and the country of Denmark (England was totally down for this change, as they should be, because it means they aren't overrun with Danish Vikings anymore) will react to this -- no spoilers, though, please! I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing how Thorfinn and Canute move forward with this checkpoint and their paths diverting, as I talked about at the end of the discussion. :) Thanks for the comment!

Thorfinn's unwavering pursuit of freedom and his rejection of the cycle of violence inspired Canute to reassess his own methods of leadership. after all canute withdraws his forces also on england even if it goes against his own beliefs of the past. funnily enough, all of this its actually historically accurate! I think thorfinn teached canute that there are indeed other ways to reach paradise. and that his assessment of the situation can be flawed, there are other ways, other methods, and thorfinn has learned as well "the first method", canute was sure thorfinn was a very dangerous man and he was about to order his men to kill him because of his reasoning. he was wrong. so wrong, he laughed at how ridiculous reality actually was. he realizes that he is flawed in his beliefs, there are other ways to reach paradise, which dismantles the saying that "the end justify the meanings" wich was canutes reasoning in all of this episodes, makes him happy to know that he doesn´t need to be a ruthless king to reach paradise. canute its looking for that after all. and he always has been, he just didn´t know that you could do it in any other way. Canute its like the critics of the ideology of the series thinking that only violence can be the answer sometimes even if your goals are just and good.
