Man, this series is so good and it just dips you RIGHT back into the tension and drama off the bat! The emotions, the anxiety, the animation, the pacing -- it all is so good in this opening episode and while I was worried the OP and ED wouldn't live up to season 1...I think we're in good hands!
This season is going to be a CRAZY ride; I can already tell! I just am sorry y'all have to wait a week in between with me!

SERIOUSLY, all that art and hints that he was dead, I was DREADING this episode! Seriously! I really hope this season answers the livestream questions too! Oooh, I can so see the relation to Arcane in that opening sequence, too! 🙂 And the OP is a JAM so far! I am with you, I was so worried the new OP and ED wouldn’t live up to how good the first was, but it was GREAT! My heart went OUT for Cheng in this episode! Him staying calm for Ling and then shedding tears for Lu – show, why?! I really feel for him, for Chen, and for Lui Min in that his own FATHER didn’t even care for him! And yeah, after episode 2, I’m not sure about Qian, either! No trust for ANYONE is a relatable feeling with these donghua! Thank you for the kind words and comment! That is crazy about the color theory from Bilibili - I’ll definitely have to bring that up in the discussion before Episode 3! But yeah, “sudden backstory” really hit our poor officer hard, didn’t it? Thanks for the comment; there’s so much to think about with this series!

Oh, I really hope they're gonna answer these questions that were in the livestream. I love that we went straight back in where we left of. The animation of the first scene reminds me of Arcane, with all these "double lines"(?). The OP is so good. I like the song a lot and even after having watched it a lot of times I still find new things and have new ideas about what it could mean. I was worried that I wouldn't like it but it's great. I really like that the shorts are canon and we get to see moments that tie back to it. Cheng Xiaoshi best boy. Him staying calm for Qiao Ling. Omg Cheng Xiaoshi crying while eating with these amazing and painful moments was so unnecessary. For what? Do they like to see us suffer so much? XD I knew when we found out Chen has a wife something bad would happen to him but I wasn't expecting it to already happen this episode. And the theory that his "daughter" could be the "friend"?! Omg, that would be crazy. I can see it. Wtf, no wonder Lui Min turned out the way he did when his father is like that. I actually do feel bad for him. I'm not sure what to think of Qian yet. I do believe he will not be on our side. He seems not good. Maybe I'm wrong and he actually is good and will help us in the future. But I don't trust him. Or anyone at the moment. I was also worried about the ED but they did a great job again. It doesn't give me the same vibe as the last one transition wise but it's good. And the visuals are interesting. Just with the OP and ED alone there are so many theories in my head. Wish you a wonderful day!

I remember an interesting theory on bilibili that all the abilities are powered by souls and the color of the eyes are the symbol of the power of the ability. Red Eye's the strongest so he can make his soul go into any person inside the photo, Cheng's yellow/orange eyes are slightly weaker so he can only be the photographer and Lu's by far the weakest so he can't even make his body go inside the photo, only sending parts of his eye sight and hearing into the photo. If this really is the case, then for Red Eye to 'take other people's ability' they just need a selfie with the other party included, and jump into that person's body and use his/her ability, so Lu and Cheng might be taken hostage rather than killed if you ask me. Also, Red Eye's ability seems to be taking over the body included in the photo in real time despite the actual time the photo was taken, so if Red Eye's powerful enough to neglect the rule between Cheng and Lu 'one photo can only be entered once and the maximum duration is 12hr' (actually till now we never really see the consequence of violating this rule, and each time Cheng seems to be exiting the photo on his own rather than 'booted' out by whatever it might be), they might even be able to jump between multiple bodies without returning to their own one, even in the current timeline, the body they're using has a possibility of not being their 'original one' I knew officer Chen's doomed the moment he began showing Cheng the photo of him and his wife and talking about not having a marriage......but I didn't expect it to come this quick. RIP officer, you'll be remembered.
