Kuroko's Basketball: Manga Volumes 23-24 Reaction & Review!

**FLASHBACK-FILLED HEADPHONE WARNING**

We finish the Semifinal match against Kaijou, where Kise's looking the prettiest, and start the MUCH anticipated TEIKO FLASHBACK!

There ARE some little nuggets of extra goodies so far that are definitely worth the read, and all the ANGSTY art is so good -- but I'm very excited, albeit NERVOUS to see what happens from here...this seems like the sunshine, with the darkness slowly creeping in...

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

Kuroko's Basketball: Manga Volumes 23-24 Reaction & Review!

Comments

Yay! So excited! 😀 I love Kasamatsu getting respect and Kise getting his ability but also showing us how human he is; the manga did a great job with that! I definitely am a DIE HARD KiseKasa shipper, too! Kise had some amazing moments in this manga volume set! Kise deserves all the hugs, though! Ooohh, that’s interesting with the Bibimbap flavor! Kagami and Kuroko and their trust, Midorima and Kagami’s moment, I love it so much! I definitely love Hinata and Kuroko’s connection! The manga definitely makes Akashi seem softer than the anime! I feel it’s so weird seeing Akashi softer compared to the moments of Aomine and the Teiko arc ripping out hearts out! It really is the “I’m fine” meme! Oh, I’ve had mishaps in PE, too, so can relate, hahaha! That makes sense with why Nijimura got to play! I LOVE that image of Kuroko fading to white – it’s so pretty; the manga handles “shadows” and “light” so well compared to the anime! I feel weird about him being “okay” with the decision with Haizaki, since the light novels show he leaves immediately after graduating, but he wasn’t going to be there to help, so maybe he felt he didn’t have a say in it. Captainhood definitely matured Akashi, though, I agree! Mura being good at physics and relating to him doing well on the exams is a nice continuity! Maybe Akashi recognizes he’s naturally intelligent and gravitates towards him and Midorma because of it? The darkness with Aomine is so heartbreaking, but the manga does an amazing job of portraying his struggle with depression sinking in. The Teiko mentality just rubs me the wrong way with everything in general, hahaha! Ogiwara proves Kuroko has a type! Hahaha! And yessss, getting the expansion on this game is crazy – definite Miya Twin vibes! Thank you for the kind words and comment! But yeah…the next set….**NERVOUS LAUGHTER** it’s…definitely painful! Can’t wait to read your comment!

Finally got time to sit and watch this. Giving Kasamatsu that respect as Kaijou's captain with him being shown for the character page 🥰 Kise's seeming a bit more subdued at the beginning of this set could also be to show that he's tiring a bit/how tiring using Perfect Copy is on the body. I'm honestly really pleased with how the mangaka has shown Kise's ability. It was one of those that I wasn't sure how well they could render it in manga form in comparison to the anime. Those flavours for Murasakibara's favourites are honestly taking me back to being in the convenience stores in Japan and trying to carefully translate to work out the flavour of things so as I didn't get something I couldn't eat 🤣 It isn't typical though that, at least in anime and manga, a person who likes snacks happily eats both sweet and savoury like Murasakibara does. I've never tried squid ink pasta or anything before (though I do know a couple of restaurants here that do it), mainly because I can't typically eat anything with fish sauce in it and I believe squid ink has a similar flavour just saltier (which I'm also not a huge fan of). Bibimbap is a Korean rice dish typically consisting of slices of meat, some veggies, and an egg over rice. I've made it a few times myself and it is pretty tasty...but I'm not sure if I'd be up for that flavour in crisp form. The Kaijou/Seirin double spread you can really feel the intensity with the art. I think I'm just too diehard a KasaKi shipper to ship Kise with anyone else 🤣 But I do still like a lot of the fanart for AoKi and KiKuro. Aomine being the one to comment on Kise being able to give that pass to Kasamatsu after how he treated Kise when he beat him at Inter-High due to a similar pass...Honestly makes me love Kise all the more. He took those losses, accepted them, and moved on. He didn't let them hold him down. The final point of this match was definitely just as hype in the manga as the anime. All the trust between Kagami and Kuroko; and then to end the game with Kuroko (who never had a scoring record at Teiko) to get that buzzer beater 🥺 Just wanted to give Kise a hug after this loss 😭 I do love the moment between Midorima and Kagami, and Takao and Kuroko. Like Takao says it feels very reminiscent of when they trained together. Kagami cooking with Riko feels like him having learnt his lesson after Riko poisoned the hotpot with protein powder the last time they came to Kagami's place for a post-match dinner. Kuroko's introduction to basketball also reminds me of Hinata's to volleyball! Yeah the anime made it more that Akashi wanted to do as he pleased and not turn up being chauffeured. His driver in the anime was immediately accepting and said he'd pass the news on to Akashi's father whilst Akashi said it wasn't his business. The way it's worded in the manga however gives it more the feeling of the driver is working for Akashi's father and takes his orders from him, but Akashi wants a little breathing room from the way his father wants things to go. Or at least that's my interpretation of it. Akashi definitely looks softer in the manga in that moment. In the anime the scene of Akashi helping the girls did slightly give off a more princely vibe rather than a sweet caring one. Crying Kuroko just ripping my heart to shreds. Then directly followed by Aomine's words of support being what kept Kuroko playing the game he loved. Being able to see Aomine's dorky self almost makes up for how much pain the Teiko arc doles out. Same for what cutie patooties they all are. Chapter title: I'm fine. Yeah doesn't at all make me think of the meme of the dog and everything on fire. Kuroko's faceplant gives me P.E. flashbacks (I was always rubbish at sports in school except for gymnastics), but it's honestly such an adorable panel too. I think Nijimura got to play because there may be no other First Years on the first string (Kuroko's currently temporarily out of commission and Haizaki is skipping practice), and so as Captain he's potentially the reserve player to go in if there is an issue. And that's why the assistant coach pulled him for his plays when it's supposed to be a practice game to observe the First Years' skills. Aomine giving me all the AoKuro feels with his utter belief in Kuroko. Wow! That visual of Kuroko fading into the white background as he shutters his emotions away looks so good! I definitely prefer how they did this than the anime, with his eyes losing their light and making him look emotionless and broken. Murasakibara being good at physics is a bit of a shock. I like for Aomine his best subject is only when he's forced. But Akashi really is that overachiever kid, isn't he? I think the question on Kagetora's marital status could be because there has yet to be any mention on reference to Riko's mother. I do feel like the manga does a better job of portraying what a tough decision it was for Nijimura to give up the title of captain. Also interesting that the anime chose to leave out showing Nijimura was okay with Akashi's decision as captain on how to deal with Haizaki. Could be so as not to rock the boat, but also suggests that even Nijimura may have reached a point where he didn't know how to help Haizaki be the better version of himself that he can be. I love that so far Fujimaki's best side profile is Akashi! But yes that panel makes him look so good. Almost like the mantle of captain has matured him. The darkness seeping in around Aomine is such a great visual effect to show his state of mind at that time. Heart-breaking, but also a great artistic choice. The comments about the assurance of the team to win just rubs me so wrong. Way too much pressure put on these young kids to always perform well and to always win. Shirogane's approach of giving all you have is just like Kuroko's mentality, and what he chides Aomine for on several occasions. Manga Ogiwara really is a perfect mix of Aomine and Kagami in looks and personality! That image of Kise and Aomine goofing off instead of doing their cleaning assignment is so cute and funny, whilst the Teiko days are slowly darkening 🥲 Yup, I knew Fujimaki would make me hurt way harder with the manga than the anime 😭 Midorima's dang Oha Asa always being right... The only time in the anime that we got the whole Kise getting fouls thing (in Middle School) was with Tsugawa [who joined Seihou]. This match with a team with twins definitely would have been interesting to see animated. Especially with the Miya twins in Haikyuu!! Great reaction as always. Why does Fujimaki hurt us so?! Hoping to watch this week's on Sunday (providing this dang cruddy feeling I've been having goes away). I know it's gonna hurt a lot more than the anime considering how many moments so far have been even more painful.

Anime Annie

RIGHT?! Yes, this is it. Nothing else to see here -- no further Teiko angst, no tears, no heartbreak; just fluffy happy times! **sobbing intensifies** The next volume set is PURE. PAIN. Definitely recommend having a furry companion around to make it better. Thank you for the comment and kind words!

And thats where it ends, right? Just a nice little flashback, everything is fine, some minor issues which will be solved totally healthy off screen! We just do the finals next time, no need to look further into Teiko, cause everything was just soo happy and fluffy it would be boring to watch, right? RIGHT? 😭 Preparing myself for the next part, might need to borrow some pets to have something to hug during the pain thats coming our way.
