Attack on Titan: LOST GIRLS Manga Reaction & Review!

**Double Trouble Headphone Warnings**

It was requested that I review these two manga volumes before I dive into the contents of the "final" AOT season in preparation for the last of the anime adaptation -- and to be honest, I had forgotten a LOT more than I realized of these two short one-off's!

Still, the two stories, ESPECIALLY Mikasa's felt like much-needed reviews before we get to Marley, the Warriors, and the final laps of the roller coaster! It's all downhill from here, right?

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

Attack on Titan: LOST GIRLS Manga Reaction & Review!

Yeah, I feel that the No Regrets material might have been requested or passed down from Isayama because it ties SO closely with the manga and Ilse's story. I do like Annie's insight into her character and backstory throughout this -- while the narrative is a little superfluous for me, the character work adds a lot and I appreciate that! I definitely get what you mean by it being a bit "on the nose," but I agree with you -- it'll be interesting to to see what the series does by the end and if any part could reference back to this! :) Thank you for the kind words and comment! We're getting closer to that point!

It would be interesting to know how these OVAs/extra chapters came about (including all the previous ones). How much came from Isayama? Did he ask for someone to make this extra content? and/or how involved was he in approving these chapters (and of their content) being made? Out of all the extra material most seem to put "No Regrets" followed by "Ilse's Notebok" as the most important ones but i do enjoy them all, and they all give us a bit more insight into our characters. I think with how much Annie is missing from the main story (and gains in importance when she rejoins the cast) her extra chapters in "Lost Girls" are quite important, not only to let us peer more into her mind and her story but to keep her on our minds. With how much Annie isn't actually in the anime/manga she always felt very present to me, maybe "Lost Girls" is a big part of that. Mikasa's "Lost Girls" OVA is probably my least favourite of all AoT "main" content (still not bad but AoT keeps a very high standard). While this manga was interesting because it was quite different from its OVA counterpart, only the first part of season 3 is this different comparing the anime and mangas, it didn't really change my mind about it. With a different timeline (or whatever is going on), things that didn't actually happen and, for my taste, it feels a bit to much on the nose. But if there is one thing AoT is great at it is recontextualizing things when we get further ahead and get more... well context. So perhaps, after we get to the very last part i will change my appreciation of these chapters and what they mean.

And I think one of her coping mechanisms are that she just accepted her fate. Maybe it‘s not obvious but she cleary has self loathing and accepted that she is a terrible person.

I think the relationship between Annie and her father is a bit toxic because she has been abused by him her whole life and yet she forgives him so easily. I think the reason she forgives him so easily is because she thinks no one else will love her or care for her and she believes that her father is her last chance to have a normal life. Because of this, she also becomes blind to other people who like her. For example, I don't think she knows until now that Bertholdt likes her, although it was very obvious. It‘s very sad actually. I think she was never really happy in her entire life and basically she had no childhood.
