Kuroko's Basketball: Manga Volumes 27-28 Reaction & Review!

**SHADOWY HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

After the devastating Teiko arc, we're at the FINALS and it's against our most dangerous foe, Rakuzan -- and they've come in for the kill, targeting Kuroko's own skills he's worked hard to hone this series!

Everyone is pitted against their biggest rivals and the fight for the "Phantom Man Status" is called into question -- but Kuroko is NOT going down without a fight! Everything is building these volumes towards the conclusion and I'm not ready for the manga to end!

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

Kuroko's Basketball: Manga Volumes 27-28 Reaction & Review!

Comments

Thank you so much for the kind words and comment! And yes, Fujimaki apparently loves to drink our tears. Glad we got confirmation on that! T_T And yesss, Mayuzumi having the shadowy effect with his misdirection is one of the best art decisions in this series, I feel! And yes, so proud of Furihata and him standing up and doing his thing, even to make Akashi so confused, hahaha! I also agree that the manga is making me appreciate him much, much more than the anime did. All the little touches are so perfect! Yeah, nothing like the darkest before the dawn, right? :) Thanks for the kind words and comment! :D

Great reaction and commentary!!! FUJIMAKI JUST STRAIGHT UP SAYING HE LIKES CHARACTER CRYING XDDD Love that for him XD Love that Mayuzumi has a black effect to his misdirection!! XD I loved Akashi getting so cunfused over Furihata. He really went "??????" But all things considering, Furihata did so very well under all that pressure!! And that basket of his when Mayuzumi underestimated him!! It was glorious! Sometimes its so weird how much different Akashi is in manga than in anime! She is so much more fleshed out in manga and I love it! And the bit about him having a horse... All the little conversations and different expressions! It really makes me appreciate his character even more. But mannn, did this set of volumes consist of Seirin getting their collective asses kicked XD Glad that the situation became better at the end and it didn't just leave off at their lowest moment. The little extras at the end we pretty fun too!!

Fujimaki revealing that he’s like Gege and Isayama and feeds on our tears…should we be surprised?! He HAS really gotten well at drawing emotion, though! I love that Mibuchi is the one that has Akashi’s trust, but I get it – if Midorima was a little more flamboyant…maybe he’d seem more like Mibuchi? ;) I seriously did almost forget about Mayuzumi! And yesss, Mayuzumi was what Akashi wanted Kuroko to be with Teiko! I LOVE the passes are in black to show how they’re different than Kuroko’s. Kuroko may seem useless but he’s part of a TEAM darn it, that’s right! I love how they all band together with Kagami to pull Kuroko up! Even though Kagami sucks with compliments, I’m sure Kuroko got what he meant! ;) Furihata, what a bean! I love him in this! That makes sense with Hyuuga’s comment on Mibuchi! I guess we could take Hyuga’s comment as why he likes Riko because she isn’t “girly;” it’s still a bit off-putting but I’m glad the mangaka seems to be pretty open with Reo otherwise and everyone else likes them. AND WHAT! The confirmation that it’s CANON that Mibuchi is gay or trans is HUGE and I love it! <3 Thanks for that information! Now we just need confirmation with Nijimura! But yes, I think Akashi is the one Mibuchi is crushing on, too! Hayama’s just too friendly to have TOO tense of a rivalry with! ;) Imayoshi and Hanamiya deserve each other, FOR SURE. I’m not a horse fan, either, but I like the softness of Akashi having a pet horse he grew up with. The dunk Akashi does IS honestly so well-drawn! I actually love it! The manga also makes Akashi seem WAY softer than the anime, I agree! Shutoku being shocked at Midorima any time he EXPRESSES EMOTION is hilarious to me! They honestly think he’s mostly a robot (except Takao). And YES, Riko and Momoi’s cooking could so be a Cluedo murder “weapon!” Kuroko looks so good in this volume set! This volume set and the “extra” at the end was great! It’s so crazy we’re nearing the end of the manga! But it’s been a fun ride! Thank you for the kind words and comment!

Fujimaki's comment about the crying...so *that's* the real reason he likes to hurt us so much! Definitely interesting that of all the Rakuzan members, Mibuchi's the one that is specifically mentioned as having Akashi's trust. I love that Rakuzan all consider Kuroko 'useless' so Seirin bring out all their big guns to show that they're a TEAM. Number 5 on Rakuzan is actually Mayuzumi, so the title Identical is in relation to Mayuzumi and Kuroko's shadow play styles. Manga really doing such a good job with him that you nearly forget about his presence on the court 😂 The KagaKuro moment on the bench 🥰 Kagami's just too straightforward to be able to compliment someone properly. All of them trying to help Kuroko pull himself together is so sweet. I love the camaraderie of their team. The manga is really making me wish we'd had the coaches with their teams in the anime during this game, just for that extra input and some more time with them. Interesting that Harasawa likens Rakuzan to a sumo champion. Mayuzumi's character is honestly so interesting, and I do think his selfish traits are why Akashi thought he'd be better than Kuroko. Also realised with you calling Mayuzumi a copycat, Kuroko's finally experiencing what so many other players have when facing Kise. Kuroko's abilities are the only ones he can't copy to the same extent because Kise can't diminish his presence on the court to the same capability that Kuroko and Mayuzumi can. All the reactions to Furihata coming out on the court are just as hilarious as in the anime. I loved it! All the Furihata love though 🥰 Also yes with AkaFuri, Akashi loses a lot of his sense of grandeur when with Furihata. I think when Hyuuga calls Mibuchi the best 3-point shooter in their generation he actually means their age/year in school; i.e. of all the second year high school students, Mibuchi is the best 3-point shooter. Personally glad the discussion between Hyuuga and Izuki wasn't in the anime, though I do like Izuki pulling out the Riko card with Hyuuga being unable to confess to her. I know some people in the fandom took the way Hyuuga said his comment regarding 'effeminate men' as him being homophobic. Maybe it is more homophobic in the original Japanese, I don't know, but with how it's translated into English it could be passed off more as Hyuuga just doesn't gel with people who typically fall under the categories of girly girl and effeminate man. It's definitely confusing about Mibuchi. The syntax Mibuchi uses is more typical of how females speak Japanese, and there are several instances when it really makes you wonder if Mibuchi is an effeminate gay man; or if they identify as trans, or even non-binary. In the Characters Bible Plus (which I cannot get my hands on a copy of to check the original Japanese and so just have the fandom wiki to base this off of, with no citation to the translator) Mibuchi came out as an Onee (オネエ) i.e. homosexual (sometimes transexual) in high school. Yeah the Kagami and Hayama face-off is the most wholesome. Even the Izuki and Hayama face-off isn't fraught with the same kind of tension/high emotions as the Kiyoshi and Nebuya/Hyuuga and Mibuchi/Kuroko and Mayuzumi battles. Imayoshi's commentary this game really makes you sure that he and Hanamiya are deserving of each other 🤣 I love the different artistic style for Mayuzumi's passes. It really helps highlight his whole character as being different from Kuroko. As much as I do not like horses, Yukimaru is a very cute aspect of Akashi's character. Hayama is the most grounded and adorable of the Rakuzan players. He's definitely up there as one of my favourite sunshine characters. I do gotta say I love Akashi dunking and his comment about the stereotype that only tall people can dunk. Also looks amazing in the manga. Mangaka is just seriously stepping up his art game. Shuutoku being shocked at Midorima empathising with someone, and that someone also being from an opposing team, is just hilarious. Mangaka is just showing off with his ability to draw all these emotions on these characters 🥺 That moment of Kuroko declaring he wants to win with them...so emotional! But yes to the Dirty Dancing quote! The image of Kuroko on Chapter 249's cover is probably the best Kuroko has looked so far. I seriously love the use of light and shadows with this manga. The official translation seriously having Kagami roar like a tiger sent me into a fit of giggles. Making him just become more and more animalistic as this game progresses 🤣 The detail in that panel of Kagami in the Zone versus Akashi looks so dang good. Especially with all the empty space around them and blank background. Really makes you feel like they're in a world of their own. Softer Akashi definitely looks more truly soft in the manga. I don't know if it was the lighting, or potentially the background music, but in the anime that moment just made Akashi seem like he was putting on a pretence. Fujimaki's comment about Riko's cooking being able to take out the Generation of Miracles made me realise that her and Momoi's cooking should be another 'weapon' for Kuroko no Cluedo 🤣 (Also making me imagine all the Generation of Miracles passed out from eating similar to Quan Yizhen, Shi Qingxuan, He Xuan, and Pei Xiu in Tian Guan Ci Fu with Xie Lian's concoctions 😂) I love Hyuuga and Aomine just lightly pushing Riko and Momoi out of the kitchen to save everyone from actually dying. Their cooking could bring a new meaning to the idiom "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach". Yes, Himuro also reminds me of Hatori in Fruits Basket! But yeah seahorse connotations I think the same as you 🤣 I do like that as much as Alex kisses the kids, she's very much all about them *being* kids and so it's not romantic in any sort of way. But Mibuchi joining in on the Girls Talk and giving us confirmation that Mibuchi 1) likes guys ('cause there are no female managers or anything on Rakuzan), and 2) that it's most likely Akashi he has a crush on. I love Akashi filling in as Santa because Kagami's too busy eating the KFC 🤣 I want to say with the squiggly lines around the body it's most likely Furihata being terrified to approach Akashi to get a present. The whole skit of Riko being more like a female lead was hilarious.
