Kuroko's Basketball: Manga Volumes 29-30 Reaction & Review!

**BUZZER BEATER HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

I can't believe we're at the final volumes of the main series! The artwork? INCREDIBLE! The emotion and stakes? INCREDIBLE! The fact that this manga ACTUALLY made me CARE for Akashi?! INCREDIBLE!

I can't wait to talk with you all about these two amazing volumes! There's - of course - still more Kuroko's material to look at this fall, but this manga has been just incredible to visit!

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

Kuroko's Basketball: Manga Volumes 29-30 Reaction & Review!

Hahahha, I’m glad I’m not the only one to think of Cyndi Lauper with that title! XD And yes, ALLL the KagaKuro vibes this volume set! That fan art of him holding Kuroko over Akashi is one of my favorite moments for them, even if it is a blooper. I love that each of the GoM have ways of “cheering” on and it reflects perfectly on their personality! I love Koganei and him getting to have this moment against Mibuchi! <3 And Mitobe with him? UGH, my heart! Your mom having six siblings! Crazy! And same – it’s a miracle my brother and I made it out unscathed, hahaha! I agree, we needed more bratty Mayuzumi moments in the anime! And yes, the manga giving us more to understand with Akashi in the manga! The Kagami dunk over him looked SO GOOD. I do appreciate that Rakuzan tries to show concern for Akashi along with Kuroko. But yes, Mayuzumi having his Senpai moment! I agree, the manga condensing the flashback was a detriment to Akashi’s character. I never thought I’d compare him to Oikawa, too, but you bring up great points as well with the comparison. Hyuuga and Teppei having their banter and showing how much they have each other’s backs! MY. HEART. The True Zone in the manga really makes it more ambiguous as to who is the “gatekeeper” and I want Aomine to be a dungeon master for the GoM playing D & D and getting into it, surprising everyone! But yes now I can break open the fan fic flood gates! Ahhhhh, Aomine’s reaction to “It was You” AHHHH yes! I am jealous you got that card! It’s so good! Hanamiya getting surrounded by people supporting Seiren was hilarious! Maybe Imayoshi can comfort him later about it. ;) The collage of all of them is SO GOOD – i love how everyone was breaking it down in the Discord chat! The little boxes of all the reactions while showing Seiren in the forefront was so well done! I agree, while I think the manga ends abruptly, it’s done properly! I personally love that we get the OVA as well! :) Thank you so much for the kind words and comment! Now we have Last Game! 🙂

So much happening in that first chapter's cover, but every bit of it is so incredibly detailed. "Time After Time" gotta admit that the Cyndi Lauper song *did* start playing in my head when you said that at the start 🤣 Glad I wasn't the only one to think of it! I do love Hayama's character with him being able to take a breath and calm down. The difference between how Aomine chides Kagami (that we know is his way of cheering him on by wanting him to do better) and Kise's way of cheering on Seirin a little more openly. Though the latter did also do it the way Aomine is in this moment when Kagami was trying to rely on the Zone during the Yosen game. They really went with 'Kitty' for Koganei 🤣 Such a great moment of humour during such a tense game. I love how unimpressed Fujimaki makes Mibuchi look in this moment, only for him to immediately change his expression when Koganei's instincts make him able to change his own stance to match Mibuchi's. It's Koganei's second year of basketball considering he played some in their previous year. It is amazing that he's doing such a good job of going head-to-head with Mibuchi. All the Mitobe and Koganei stuff 🥰🥺 I need more of their 'conversations'. I just love Mitobe's silent support of Koganei. It's such an interesting range of types of family for all of our Seirin team. But I'd have loved getting even just a glimpse of them all, especially when some of them got their families (and the dynamics within said family) shown. I can somewhat imagine Mitobe's craziness with his family as my Mum is one of seven. Personally I'm the same as you. I can just about handle having an older brother, (and we just about survived our teenage years without us killing each other or destroying the house 😆) don't need any other siblings. I feel like if in the anime we'd had more of Mayuzumi being bratty in his head back to Akashi in that moment (similar to how he was towards Kuroko when Kuroko was on the bench observing him), this moment with Akashi using Mayuzumi wouldn't leave just as bad a taste in my mouth. Yet another moment when the anime pushes the agenda of Akashi the Antagonist. I like Hyuuga telling Kiyoshi to not go overboard. Shows what a caring captain he is. And shows how well he knows Kiyoshi. Definitely agree with you on the idea that Murasakibara also understands how Mibuchi does his three forms for shooting, but there's nothing really in it for him to give a better explanation. Himuro plied him with snacks when they were watching the Shuutoku-Rakuzan match, so he was getting a return then for giving explanations 😂 Such a little thing, but just having Akashi practicing in the light rather than the dark makes him far less pretentious (which is how a lot of that moment came off in the anime). I do have to admit that I like the 'Kneel' moment in the anime more 😂 I definitely feel the manga highlights Akashi in the Zone vs. Kagami in the Zone as a direct contrast better than how the anime portrayed it. Honestly in the manga the shadowed figure for when Aomine's talking about them looks like Aomine to me. Almost like potentially the mangaka was going to go with Aomine having to defeat (or accept) a part of himself to gain entrance to the deeper Zone. I love Aomine being a dork with his understanding of the 'lore' for the Zone. That moment of Kuroko rewatching the tape and analysing really does feel reminiscent of that scene with Oikawa. I love them detailing the bond and trust between Kuroko and Kagami 🥰 KagaKuro flag is flying high with the quasi Emperor Eye 🤣 Kagami getting that dunk over Akashi's head looks so damn good! And yet more contrasts with Kagami and Akashi with Akashi feeling *he* has to win, whilst Kagami is carrying the hopes of his entire team so as *they* can win. I feel like parents who are trying to bring their children up in a way so as they never fail is just setting them up *for* failure. It ill equips them with being able to accept a loss, or not doing well at something, and they're more likely to internalise it and potentially spiral from that one loss. Whereas, in my opinion, children who are raised to understand that it's okay to fail and that everybody fails at something/you can't be good at everything are less likely to feel as negatively about a loss. Especially if they're taught that failing isn't important, it's what you do afterwards that is (i.e. if you persevere and try again, or accept your loss and move on to something else that could be better in the long-run). That blooper of Kagami holding up Kuroko killed me! 🤣🤣🤣 Also reminded me of all those fanarts of how some of those End Cards could be possible/what's happening outside of the frame. It is nice seeing not only Rakuzan's concern for Akashi, but also Kuroko's (and that the latter is able to push that concern to the side until after they've won). Mayuzumi's realisation that he has to be a proper senpai in this moment and bring Akashi back to himself 🤣 Kiddo Akashi! 🥺 Yup mangaka managed to make this whole mini flashback more painful. The anime definitely condensed all of this way down which I think was so detrimental to Akashi's character. Like it would have been better just including even one or two of these lines to help explain the personalities better, but also make him seem much more sympathetic with him wanting to give his former teammates this seemingly unstoppable opponent to face off against. Akashi's passes, the ones he also used with the Generation of Miracles, really are very like Oikawa's sets. Definitely interesting that we see Oikawa's concentration and observation with Kuroko; relationship with his players for giving them the set/pass best for them with Akashi; his general bubbly personality with his fangirls like Kise (along with the IwaOi and KasaKi similarities); and his drive to train to the best of his ability like Midorima. I don't know that Aomine, Kagami, or Murasakibara have any traits I can see in Oikawa. But it's definitely a fun comparison between Kuroko no Basuke and Haikyuu!! The crying out moment 🥺😢 Definitely hit so much harder in the manga. But Hanamiya's reaction to the outcry of support for Seirin made me laugh after almost crying. Oh, our trash king...😂 The question about who's more popular 😂 With the crass comment, I figure it means that Kise might beat Himuro in a numbers game, but Himuro's fangirls are of a better standard. Could also be Fujimaki's way of saying Kise's flighty with girls, whereas Himuro's more long-term. Kagami breaking open the door...like you now with AO3 and Kuroko no Basuke FanFics 🤣 Aomine's realisation causing him to have a Xie Lian moment...😭When I got the card of that moment of Aomine crying I felt both lucky and also so pained. It's one of my favourite Aomine moments but it also hurts so damn much. Mangaka really showing off as we come to an end with that Direct Drive Zone spread. I'm the same of you in that I love Izuki having this massive moment in the match. It shows that the player who has got to where he is simply through persistent hard work is the one that manages to keep his calm at the end in order to get that steal. Especially against such absolute beast players. Okay, the flash through all their time as a team as Hyuuga's about to take the shot did almost bring a tear to my eye. Nijimura palming Haizaki's head...I can just hear him call him a brat and chiding him for his behaviour whilst also question him on what the heck he did to his hair 😂 Hanamiya is definitely protesting too much and it looks like Furuhashi is in agreement with us. There are so many moments in this one image. I love that they managed to include so many of them and create all these little interactions, even with players that never met in the manga or anime before. I absolutely love the way the mangaka created that double spread of Seirin winning and everyone's reactions in little boxes. Such a great visual. The manga does end *very* abruptly. It feels right to end there, somewhat. But for me I do like the show content ending with Kuroko's birthday OVA. For me that feels like a nice round up, interspersed with some great moments for interactions between characters outside of a tournament.
