Xie Lian is stuck in the Heavenly Realm with a quite sinister Jun Wu, but Hua Cheng isn't going to let him stew there alone too long!
Hua Cheng's "special friend" arrives and XL and HC team up to try and find the Guoshi to get some questions answered, but before that can happen, they are going to run into some other "familiar faces" dealing with demons of their own!

It's good to know that farmers are held in higher regard in Ancient China - they definitely deserve it! HuaLian really giving off the "detective WangXian" vibes as they roam around eavesdropping; that's a funny point about the radish and CuoCuo as well! And ugh...I just want Feng Xin and Jian Lan to settle things and be able to be together. :( But SERIOUSLY, that MXTX just CASUALLY drops that bomb that Cuo Cuo was the one singing the song in Volume ONE is insanity. Should we be surprised at this point, though? And Hua Cheng is so overall unconcerned about everything that making out with XL before getting answers is perfectly acceptable haha! Look, after Book 4 and all this tension MXTX is giving us with JW/BWX/WHATEVER -- I will take all the flirting we are given! :P Thank you so much for the kind words and comment!

I just love the idea that HC has these "magical girl" transformations into new forms; that's so sweet! And yesss, Yushi Huang is Queen and I'm living for her! 2023-11-26 21:58:46 +0000 UTCi love seeing Hualian act like an actual couple, i find that too often in romances the story is cut off as soon as the main leads get together and you don't really get to see them as a real couple. I also love HC teasing XL but stopping after XL gets starts to get serious and focus, it feels like HC knows XL's boundaries and how much XL is comfortable with before he has to stop and I LOVE it. Also, the reminder that our fashionista HC can change his appearance at will... I can IMAGINE all of the mischief he gets into. Yushi Huang is QUEEN and I never really thought that much into about how much of an impact a god of agriculture could have across the board, so I really enjoy the stakes set.

Also love the respect given to her and how much power she's given because she's the god of agriculture. I know from a Western standpoint farming and farmers were considered on the lower end of status in comparison to the status they held in Ancient China. Glad I'm not the only one to think of that creepy-ass moment with the baby in Trainspotting for that moment with Cuo Cuo. But I do adore that Cuo Cuo heard his mother's words of "only poor b*stards and silly gods eat those things" and decided the perfect recipient of the radish would be Feng Xin 🤣 Technically (considering how poor he was when he met Jian Lan at the brothel) both of those descriptions could be fitting for Feng Xin. Heavenly Realm is fraught with tension so Hualian naturally think it's the perfect backdrop to be so damnably adorable and loving with one another 🥰 Also they really do love just listening in on everyone's business with Hua Cheng's butterflies 😂 Feng Xin and Jian Lan's whole relationship always hurts my heart. You can really understand both sides and their individual pain/issues which means as an outsider you can't really take sides. I loved how shocked you were about something that happened way back around the beginning of Volume 1 suddenly getting answered now 😆 And no, the spirit that warned Xie Lian back at the beginning didn't get brought up with the introduction of Cuo Cuo. Hua Cheng really taking *this* moment of trying to discern which is the Brocade Immortal to make-out with Xie Lian...he is a Ghost King of opportunity 🤷♀🤣 Mo Xiang Tong Xiu is a master at her craft for being able to give us such a tense and emotional chapter, only to follow it with Hualian shenanigans around the Heavenly Realm 😆 The squeezing of the hand during the exchange of gifts really makes me think of that sensual XiYao moment too!!!
